  1. Darrien Miller just plunked again. The 15th time. My goodness the man has magnets in his skeleton. Fastball up and in at 89 mph off the hand. Uncanny how this man gets plunked.
  2. 2 K and in a scoreless seventh frame for Jeison Pena. You love to see it.
  3. Can't locate a curveball to save his life. BUT, that slider makes it inconsequential. Those pitches are ridiculous.
  4. It's RHP Jeison Pena time in Carolina. He gets a first batter K. Then falls to a 2-0 count to the next hitter. Thankfully, he gets the fly out to RF on the next pitch. He then falls 2-0 to the next batter. 3-0 on an outside breaker. Walks him on four pitches. The first Mudcat walk - fitting it comes from Pena with two down. Misiorowski finishes his second inning on a three pitch K - all sliders sitting low 90's.
  5. Rodriguez struggle with location early. He gave up 4 XBH's through 2 IP and they were hit hard. AND, yet, he pitches another Quality Start. What more can you say about this young man's ability to give his team a chance every outing. It's uncanny.
  6. He gets the K swinging at a 97 mph upper corner heater after he threw an inside 92 mph cutter the pitch before - both swings and misses. 2 K, 1 BB, and a pop out to 1B. We can work with this.
  7. Next pitch 99.1. Next pitch 99. He has thrown two curve balls now - one 3 feet up and out of the zone and the next one about 6 ' high and outside the zone to the backstop. He then walks the batter with two down on a 101 mph inside heater. The velo is back tonight. The curveball? Absolutely not early.
  8. Pitch 4? His first 100 mph heater of his season. YOU GOTTA LOVE IT. Let's GO!
  9. Pitches 1 and 2 from 'The Miz' a 98 mph and a 99 mph heater for strikes. He then gets the K swinging on 99 mph high heat up and out of the zone. NOICE!
  10. For those at Home. This is One we will absolutely want to keep an eye on. Play begins at 2:21:39. Clearly landed on by the catcher on what appeared to be his left knee. It happened very fast. A bang-bang play. Hopefully, he just got severely cleated and gashed/bruised. Let's put that energy out there.
  11. Pratt got spiked by the Hillcat catcher sliding into Home plate for the 4-3 lead on a hard hit Acosta ground out to 1B - he made it to the dugout under his own power but was clearly hobbled and limping. C David Garcia then hit an oppo grounder past the diving 3B - awkward dive and play. 5-3 Mudcats. Obviously, we'll want to keep an eye on Pratt.
  12. Guilarte followed with an oppo top-spinner that bounced past the charging RF down the RF line and it went to the wall. An RBI double. Pratt to 3rd.
  13. Pratt with his second ground ball single into left CF scored the first two runs. His 27th and 28th RBI's of his season.
  14. Nashville is Delayed, btw. The Shuckers are Home and it is gloriously sunny and clear. They'll start shortly.
  15. We got a big 5th inning rally now that the Mudcats have gotten into the Hillcats bullpen. It's suddenly a 4-3 game!
  16. After getting hit for an infield goose snort to open the 5th frame and seeing that runner swipe 2B, Rodriguez then gets the strike him out and throw him out. Chourio then flies out to Mercado to end the threat. It definitely looks that despite getting hammered for XBH's early, Rodriguez is going to have yet another shot at a Quality Start. Uncanny.
  17. OF/1B Reece Walling hit a jam shot ground out to 2B in the fourth frame. Leaving 1B he can be seen rotating his right arm is if he may have gotten some kind of stinger action on the ground out? Play begins at roughly 1:57:45 for those interested. Didn't look like much. BUT, he had also backed up into the wall on one of those second inning rockets off the RF wall. Hopefully he's ok!
  18. Through 4 IP, the Mudcats bats are getting absolutely dominated by 18-year-old Alex Clemmey. 2 H (groundball singles), 2 BB (both in the first), 6 K. Castillo goes down looking at a 3-2 inside breaking ball. May have been off the plate. He may have gone around anyway. Clemmey is such an intriguing prospect.
  19. Pratt smacks an oppo single through the 1B/2B gap. That breaks a 7 consecutive batters retired streak for Clemmey. Two down. That's the 2nd Mudcats hit. They trail 3-0. Bottom 3. Two down. Pratt on 1B.
  20. Two down. A 1-2 count. Rodriguez hangs another off-speed delivery up in the zone. He gives up his fifth hit already. A line drive single into RF. Just not sharp. An uncharacteristic outing.
  21. Clemmey struggles with consistent control. BUT, he's 18 years old and he already absolutely has Ace stuff in his bag. You can absolutely see why the Guardians targeted in the high portion of last year's draft. Three up and three down for the Mudcats in the 2nd. Clemmey grabbed his 4th K to boot on a gorgeous off-speed pitch for the K looking.
  22. He hangs another ball in a 2-2 count dead center at the top of the zone. It is lined very sharply to Diaz at 1B. He got lucky there. He just isn't sharp whatsoever. Too many pitches seeing way too much of the heart of the plate. 3-0 and we head to the bottom of the 2nd.
  23. Manuel gets the pop out to the shallow RF grass to Di Turi (2B), a fly out to Walling in RF. The runner advanced to 3B. AND, just like that, Rodriguez hangs an inside belt high breaking ball that is smacked off the wall. That's 4 XBH's off Rodriguez early. Lynchburg is all over his stuff. He is hanging a lot of meat. 3-0 deficit.
  24. Rodriguez is hanging pitches. And, he is getting hit hard and often early. Two balls off the wall - a stand-up triple and a stand-up double - in right field. Mudcats trail 2-0. Zero outs.
  25. It would appear he is actually not in the line-up. So, we are still on injury alert.
