  1. Mudcats stranded the bases full. Elevated Clemmey's pitch count to 28. BUT, struck out three times. I will say, I can very very much see why Clemmey is a highly thought of 18-year-old lefty. At 6'6" he has 2700 spin on his off-speed stuff. It moves horizontally and vertically. He touches 96-97 but with his extension probably arrives more like 99-100. This is a really raw but tantalizing tool kit for the Guardians.
  2. Pratt works the count 2-2 and goes down swinging on an off-speed offering (looked like a change-up by my eyes) low and outside below the zone. Fooled on that pitch.
  3. Di Turi singles past a diving SS. Steals 2B. Yophery Rodriguez then takes a K looking at a 3-2 pitch but is gifted first base. That was what we call a generous miss by the home plate ump. Pratt to the dish (hitting 0.341 over his last 10 games) and is quickly in an 0-2 count. Zero outs. 1-0 Lynchburg. Men on 1st and 2nd.
  4. The younger Chourio with a sac fly to RF. Lynchburg leads 1-0. Two down. Five lefties and four switch-hitters in this Lynchburg line-up tonight. Rodriguez is going to have to work for everything.
  5. RHP Manuel Rodriguez with an uncharacteristic 3-1 count to open the first frame. He then leaves a heater at the top of the zone dead CF and the Lynchburg lead-off smacks a double to the left CF gap. Ground out to 2B for his first out advancing the runner to 3B. One down. 0-0. Man on 3rd.
  6. RHP Nolan Blackwood was activated from the 'Development List' by the Nashville Sounds
  7. Indeed he does, Daniel: From the MLB Trade Rumors article published today. (Bold added for my own emphasis)
  8. Good for him! I wish him the absolute best of success(es) in his next stop(s). He was such a fantastic storyline in 2023. It seemed he definitely created a Triple-A baseline for himself this season - in the very least. Hopefully, he can get into the call-up game with a Big League ball club and finds a way to stick. Love that financial news for he and his family having just become a new dad. That's huge!
  9. Newly aquired (ish) RHP Joel Kuhnel says 'Not so fast, Mr. Kuechel!'. The Brewers staff/brass must have liked what they saw in his past two outings vs Durham. In his last relief outing (after Ashby and Meeker had really done the heavy lifting for the Sounds allowing 14 runs combined - whewwww), 1 2/3 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K, 0 R, Kuhnel tossed 29 pitches. He allowed a max exit velo of 88 mph. He has a five-pitch mix (4-seamer, cutter, sinker, slider, change-up) with extremes of 79 ish mph to 96 ish mph. Sits 85-to-94. Primarily works his 4-seamer, sinker, slider. BUT, will use the cutter and change-up to keep hitters thinking. Hitters managed a 0.211 BAA in his June relief work for the Sounds (four outings in total). His WHIP is elevated due to a 2 H, 2 BB debut inning of work. It sits at 1.40 with Nashville. It will be interesting to see how his stuff fares should he stick or if this is a classic Brewers 2024 stop-gap for a future DFA. You really never know this season.
  10. So, I'm imagining the logical roster move here would be, what, officially moving Gasser to the 60-Day IL? That would open a roster spot so Dallas can (Slo)'Kuech'?
  11. The DSL Brewers Dos are having perhaps their most impressive performance of their young season after winning yesterday's 2-1 nail biter vs their DSL Brewers Uno compadres. They just put up a four-spot in the bottom of the 8th and lead the (12-4) Cleveland Goryl 11-5 in the top of the 9th. Lotttttta spice in that DSL Brewers Dos Box. And, that game is now over - a 11-5 Brewers #2 victory. They move to 9-7 on the season. AND, what's more? We can highlight a Brewers Dos pitching performance from one 18-year-old Dominican RHP Wandy Cabrera for taking over in the 6th frame with a tight 5-5 ballgame on the scoreboard. He proceeded to fire his best work of his young season: 4.0 IP, 1 H, 3 BB, 5 K, 0 R picking up the 'W' and moving to 2-0 on the summer.
  12. LHP Darrell Thompson has been released by the Nashville Sounds Please respect @wiguy94 and myself as we mourn the loss of our red bearded gunslinger. Please wish Darrell the best - he just became a father this season. Praying for the best for he and his family.
  13. RHP Gabriel Colmenarez was activacted by the ACL Brewers from the 7-Day IL (and debuted 6/24) C Andy Yerzy was assigned to the Nashville Sounds from the Biloxi Shuckers
  14. Though Alastre's SS work, at face value, does not appear to be quite as bad as 2023 ACL Juan Baez's SS work, it certainly begs to ask the question: when he ultimately is placed in Low-A Carolina will we see all defensive work moved to 2B and the corner OF spots? His ongoing woes do not reflect what was a decent DSL season defensively at the same position. Perhaps it's just a couple bad outings. At the current 2024 ACL rate he is essentially suffering an error at SS every 12 innings. After last season, it certainly seemed 3B was out of the picture. His defensive lapses in the desert have given me some 'where will he land?' jitters.
  15. To be published in tomorrow am's Minor League Report: Final: DSL Brewers #2 2, DSL Brewers #1 1 Box Score and Game Log The DSL Uno y Dos squared up as foes once again to start the early week of Brewers affiliated baseball. And, the two young squads ultimately played a scheduled seven-inning 2-1 nail biter as the DLS Brewers Dos got the best of their brethren across the diamond. Ultimately, the two runs the Brewers #2 plated during 17-year-old RHP Ayendy Bravo's 3 1/3 IP proved to the difference. One might surmise Bravo was lucky to only concede two runs: 5 H, 2 BB, 3 WP, 1 K. His stablemates, RHP Gabriel Colmenarez (who returns from injury - now 18 years of age and in his first action since a respectable 2023) and RHP Ramwell Smith pitched a combined 3 2/3 scoreless frames with two punch outs apiece and very little activity on the base paths. In a game where the Brewers #1 offense managed only two hits in total we can give a nod to a familiar name in the box score: INF Luis Pena knocked his third double of his 2024 season. On the side of the Brewers Dos, we see last year's pre-season DSL darling INF Kevin Ereu caused quite a few problems at the dish and on the base paths - he smacked his fourth double of his season in a 2-for-4, 1 R day and advanced twice on Bravo WP's. Ereu is now hitting a very respectable 0.293 with an 0.852 OPS in 41 official AB. INF Jonathan Rangel had a fine 2-for-2, 1 RBI, 1 BB day himself while also hitting his third two-bagger of his summer. German RHP Paul Hoff picked up the win going 5.0 IP of 2 H, 3 BB, 2 K, 1 ER ball. His stablemate, 18-year-old Dominican RHP Johan Zapata, picked up the two inning hitless; walk-less; scoreless; 1 strikeout Save - the first of his 2024 season in his first opportunity. In 6 1/3 IP as a DSL Brewers #2 reliever, Zapata now holds a 4.26 ERA with 5 K to 1 BB. The DSL Brewers Dos move to 8-7 on their season. The DSL Brewers Uno fall to 10-6. Both squads will be back at it tomorrow morning facing very formidable foes in the DSL Orioles Orange and DSL Cleveland Goryl who own a combined 25-7 record 😳.
  16. - RHP Elieser Hernández has cleared waivers (sent outright to the Nashville Sounds) and has elected Free Agency
  17. I agree wholeheartedly. Injuries are just an unfortunate and significant part of the physics of the game. It stinks when they happen in bunches like this year but it's a real testament to the great depth of the system at large (and the personnel department) that the season has carried on in the fashion it has. I personally have been pleasantly surprised throughout the first half seeing many a marquis name having a ho-hum season (so to speak) while players on the fringes of discussions coming into the year really are balling out. The system depth is just such a gift for the everyday watchers and followers. It stands out. Just consider, for example, the outputs of guys like Isaac Collins, Yoshwar Garcia, Manuel Rodriguez, Daniel Corniel, Chad Patrick, Jesus Chirinos and his big hits and big moments, Brewer Hicklen, Jadher Areinamo, Craig Yoho and on and on and on. The injuries happen. They absolutely stink no doubt about it. BUT, in a season like this, we really see the wealth of depth the Brewers system contains well past the overdone Top 20 and Top 30 lists. There are really good players throughout the stateside 165 count. Their performances as a whole have helped the machine stay well-oiled, so to speak.
  18. Interesting. An in-season DSL-to-ACL promotion. I had been wondering about the 12:1 K:BB ratio in only 5 2/3 IP this year. He had also seen a wild 0.444 BAA with 12 H in those same innings. A promotion lends me to believe these weren't hit all that hard. Anyhow, congrats to Señor Broca!
  19. File under: 'Zen and the Art of Baseball Maintenance' That's a banger!
  20. No early morning DSL Game Logs to pant over makes Farmer Joe a dull boy. 😜 Sigh. I guess we'll just have to wait.
  21. One of the distinct reasons why you live and die with the Luke Adams development roller coaster (his freestyle swing may rub some the wrong way - ie he'll need to 'fix' that as he faces stiffer competition) and embrace the journey: He doesn't try to do too much. Which is quite amazing when you consider what a fun player Adams is - his energy and effort and quirkiness is real entertainment. He is sporting a 50:42 K:BB ratio with High-A Wisconsin. All a party to his current 0.411 OBP. Despite the power and the ability to smack the hyeck out of the ball, he is extremely patient and rarely leaves his shoes. This is his age 20 season. This is an huge plus in the plate presence department moving forward.
  22. Not to be lost in Knoth's superb outing: 21-year-old RHP Brailin Rodriguez and 20-year-old RHP Dikember Sanchez pitching scoreless and hitless 3 1/3 IP. Only baserunner came via a Sanchez walk. Rodriguez with 4 K in his 2 1/3 IP. Hitters now touching Rodriguez (thru 17 2/3 IP in the Low-A Carolina League) to a measly 0.186 BAA. Both young men are fun to watch on the mound - they have swagger and are actually quite athletic.
  23. It is really really nice to see Biloxi starting to play some competitive baseball again. #CameraGateWasReal
  24. Wait, Meeker gave up 7 earned runs in 1 1/3 IP? Did the DFA break him? <sad face>
  25. I was just digging back through Chourio's age 17 DSL season. He really didn't take off until his last month of that season and he still didn't have months quite like Peña, Madé, and Anderson. To see them performing like this so early...it gets me unreasonably excited.😅AND, that doesn't even factor in several other players having fantastic early goings.
