  1. They plated 2. 5-2 game now headed to the 7th. Wes Clarke might have a chance at the not-so-coveted Golden Sombrero if he gets another AB. Struck out for the 3rd time to end the 6th in an 0-for-3, 3 K line so far. Errrrr, scratch that. I mistook that for the 3rd out. Derp. Owen Miller just singled to CF to score Collins (who had advanced to 3rd on a WP). 5-3 game now!
  2. After missing two bombs earlier in the series, really nice to see Pratt come back in a pitcher-friendly park in Charleston for his 2nd dinger of the season. He has power in that frame - believe me. It is only a matter of time as he adjusts and learns to access it. He missed two long dongs by circumstance. Now he is rewarded. Mudcats lead 6-2 late.
  3. You mean this Jesus Made? DSL Brewers Complex has that Family Vibe to the gills!
  4. Same level-headed likable James Meeker. With just a slightly bigger smile 🥰
  5. THAT is a top 10 classic DSL Hit right there. No doubt about it. Like a fresh beer getting un-capped.
  6. All this DSL talk makes me nostalgic for the 'old days'. Let's get ACL happy! It's Gery Holguin day:
  7. By low 90's here (Spencer's tweet) he means Sinker/4-Seamer sits 91-94 mph. His sinker tends to sit in that 92-92.5 range. The 4-seamer essentially is a 93.5mph pitch. FWIW. Slider dips down to low 80's. Cutter sits 87-88.
  8. It will be quite interesting to see how Meeker's stuff plays at the MLB level. When he's on, he's very very solid and works through innings quickly. When he's off? His stuff tends to flatten out and he gets hit fairly hard. These 'rough' outings have been fewer and farther between. It's an amazing story for a guy who only two winters ago was pitching in the Aussie Winter League - albiet, winning Reliever of the Year (kind of a Brewers thang now - see RHP Sam Gardner this past winter...now pitching well with Biloxi). Like the Packers and UDFA signings, Indy pitchers have to see a very very real shot to make it if they sign up with the Brewers. So many success stories ongoing. Heck RHP Ryan Middendorf is coming back on strong - he looked fantastic in his last outing with Nashville. Anyhow, very excited for Meeker to get the call up. Let's hope he brings his 'A Plus' game and gets after it!
  9. Fantastic work, Daniel! Our first highly-coveted 9-game report duties and you smashed it out of the park. Really unfortunate news for Boeve and Cornielle - we can only hope these are minor aggravations. Also, from yesterday's thread, I shaew for all you readers the tantalizing RHP Hayden Robinson off-speed arsenal:
  10. I think you underestimate how lazy the pop fly to CF was for Doston. 2-3 false steps back toward the wall as opposed to reading it off the bat allowed it to drop. That was a very catchable ball by my goggles. Then, a run scores directly because O'Rae throws a ball up line and to the stands/dugout. If that's not directly a run plating because of a misfire in your eyes, well we are watching two entirely different games. 😁. Before he forced the throw, the runner was standing and staying @ 3B. As to the thinking of "The runs would have plated later anyway." I just don't agree with that whatsoever. IF any of those plays are made in the correct manner, I like to think the pitcher's mentally are more fine tuned and elevated to the moment. Anyhow, all my blather is meaningless in the end. They were scored earned.
  11. I know Wehrle had a troubling 8th inning BUT the scorer crediting him w 3 earned runs is absurd. That is all I have to aay about that. Hrmmmpf.😅
  12. Lets get our first collective look at last year's 14th Rd draft pick out of HS, RHP Hayden Robinson. Certainly has movement on these off-speed pitches. Yowza!
  13. Hey now, we have an Jash Adamczewski sighting as he's playing his first ball of 2024! 1-2, 1 2B, 2 R, 1 RBI. You love to see it! ACL Crew lead 5-1 in the bottom of the 2nd.
  14. Next pitch? A standing triple to deep right CF. All the way to the 405 sign. Wehrle likely pulled here? Nope. Just a mound visit. Fly out to LF to end it.
  15. AND, those errors realllly caused a meltdown. Wehrle hangs an absolute meatball breaking ball dead center. 5-1. Two run jack. I'll mirror Mehring's sentiments: "Oooooof."
  16. AND, this one cost the T-Rats. Wehrle. This inning should have been over. Sigh. Doston completely misread a routine bloop pop fly to deep left CF. He took too many steps back and then couldn't reach it and then bobbled the gather off the bounce. Woof. THEN, an utterly uber-weak roller to O'Rae at 2B who charges and misfires on a ball that never should have been thrown. The runner was safe. Eat the ball, Dylan. He throws up line and to the dugout and the runner scores rounding 3rd with ease. Has to be frustrating for Wehrle. That run crosses with 2 down. T-Rats now trail 3-1. That's their 3rd error of the night. Ruh roh.
  17. Doston's second error in LF over the past week allows another runner to take 2nd base on what should have been a routine single. Uncharacteristic from him.
  18. We can only hope. We know it's in there. It certainly hasn't come out all that much so far in 2024.
  19. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two down - the T-Rats relief duo of Wehrle and Costello having wasted RHP K.C. Hunt's 5.0 IP, 5 K, 0 R masterclass - and trailing 2-1 Tayden Hall's High-A struggles continued as he went down swinging on a heater center cut. That's 2 K for Hall as he is doing his darndest to mirror EBJ's offensive output in Biloxi. 2-1 and they head to the 8th frame. T-Rats trail. Is another improbable late comeback 'W' in their cards? They picked up a game on Cedar Rapids last night. They hold a 2.5 G lead atop the Division.
  20. Yup. I said it coming into the season. AND, this season has only reinforced my opinions: the lowest levels are just ridiculously interesting and the bedrock of confidence in the system. Given how the Brewers find pitchers anywhere and have shown a commitment (let's be honest, mandated by budgetary need) to working reclamation projects for the end-of-bench spots with the big club, the Double-A and Triple-A environments become somewhat less important. This isn't to say they are neglecting those environments whatsoever (tho, the Shuckers are sure acting like frumpy petulant teenagers in their first half - yikes). The Sounds repeatedly showcase a roster capably filling the 'we are an extension of the Big League bench' role over the past several years. It's uncanny how solid those Monasterio; Koenig; Paredes; Peguero etc role players have been. In the past few seasons, the Brewers appear to have really stepped up another level in three areas: Indy and Undrafted FA signings; Minor League Free Agency, and now we are possibly seeing another step up in the International scene. With the new Academy and with the early returns of Chourio (and if Quero can get back healthy - not to mention the young pitching, Yophery's growth curve, Baez etc.) and now this class's potential? It certainly would appear they are building a new foundation to strengthen the Big League house. It also just gives the organization all that much more flexibility at the deadline. Just look at what a guy like INF Jhonny Severino gave both the Brewers and the Pirates: the Brewers got their much-need second half stabilizing force at 1B and the clubhouse, the Pirates got a meaningful lottery ticket (he's having a fantastic early FCL - he's even working toward cutting back the K % though it still is slightly high.) Anyhow, long old man way of saying: entirely agreed.
  21. Well, I say 'regressed' in regards to Black as an 'over the duration' remark. He simply hasn't improved anywhere defensively on the diamond in his time with the Brewers. I've loved his bat since his first season. Just as I've loved his competitive spirit. He's gotten stronger, he's got wheels, power etc. They've tried him at 2B, CF, 3B, and now they are tossing him mercifully to 1B. The problem there? He is involved in too many plays. It's just the honest truth. He doesn't have the wingspan to overcompensate for his lack of comfortability. He doesn't make the challenging play - he certainly doesn't make it look effortless in trying. Whereas in 2023 I thought he could be a Zobrist type guy whose bat was too good to leave out and you could hide him in multiple locations, I now feel like he's probably the carrot dangled to acquire help elsewhere. The bat is so enticing. But given you can't really hide him on the diamond and he will likely negatively impact a game at some point(s) (and you see that inevitability), do the Brewers want to exercise the patience needed in call-ups for his bat to adjust to the MLB level? I just do not see them calling up a DH when they have Hoskins and Sanchez - like, at all. SO, I go to the logical place: a trade package. It's not personal in this thought exercise. I just think it's logical. And, I wish I wasn't having these thoughts!
