    Mudcats now lead 11-2 while the Fred Nats trail 6-0. Let's GO! As a point of following the Mudcats quest for a second consecutive Playoff berth: Upcoming series vs last place Delmarva, then @ Charleston ( tied with this Myrtle Beach team at 5 games under .500), then a HUGE Home series vs the Fred Nats before finishing the first half @ Columbia with the 2 Makeup games in an 8-game series.

    Even more important given the Fred Nats trail 4-0 in the 3rd. Gotta take this one and hope that score holds so we can get our deficit back to a 1.0 GB.

    Big congrats are due for RHP Enoli Paredes: Let's hope he runs with this opportunity and help solidify that greater Brewers bullpen depth. We all know another Sounds OF'er is quite deserving of a 40-Man opportunity as well. Let's hope our favorite 'Brewer' gets his chance to shine as well!

    - The Brewers have selected the contract of RHP Enoli Paredes from the Nashville Sounds (I do believe this would indicate a corresponding roster move would need to be made)

    - RHP Logan Henderson was officially activated off the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 7-Day IL. He had been rehabbing with the ACL Brewers. AND it appears Jim and I published this at literally the exact same moment. In. Synch.

    Well, when you are batting 0.383 and walking twice as much as you whiff that apparently is what happens. Even with only 48 AB's, it's extremely fun to watch his ascent (even if mainly in Game Logs at present). He's like a four years younger Boeve...which speaks to his already extremely advanced plate approach. At just 18, it's hard not to be excited.

    I have had this very same take since about 3 months into the ABS and Challenge system implemented in the International League last season (Jeff speaks to it here). Everything he says and then some. ABS is rigid; takes away framing as an art; is inconsistent ballpark-to-ballpark where each park has its own system - ie the zones are not uniform they are contextual to the the set up in the ballpark. The Challenge system is a complete no-brainer...which, in professional sports, typically means the powers that be will make the wrong choice. Goodness me oh my, please MLB show some competence: Challenge system 24-7 365.

    Been saying this same very thing for over a month. I mean, I am dead serious when I say this: I think Yoho is an MLB pitcher today. Full stop. His stuff is that absolutely filthy. I wouldn't think twice to get his feet wet vs MLB hitters in mop-up duty to see how his stuff plays. So much movement. High-A hitters have absolutely no chance. None. And, for all us Yoho stans, don't forget to check out his 'T-Rats Talk'

    It's his Achilles' heel. This is why I've compared him to an even raw-er version of Abner Uribe (without the emotional unpredictability and volatility). You can really date these walk struggles back to August 12th of last season vs Delmarva. It's kind of where it all began. Before that point, even though his ERA was a bit elevated he was dominating batters and it was clear to see the ERA just didn't tell the story. In 2024, even when he was dealing in the earlier part of this T-Rats season, he was still walking guys but his stuff is so good when he's within himself it didn't matter outing-to-outing. There is still high-leverage reliever in his arsenal. It's blatantly obvious. BUT, none of that matters if you can't own the zone and control your stuff. You can essentially group Rodriguez with Rivero and Low. All three guys have electric stuff. All three guys reallly realllllllly struggle to replicate success for long periods of time. Thankfully they are all 22 and younger. So much talent there. Many many miles to go.

    Focusing on the positives, indeed! From August 2nd of last season from yours truly (HERE): It would appear the trajectory is still quite byulllllish. Been a big fan. Still a big fan. I can not wait to watch he, Bitonti, and Di Turi in Carolina.

    Hats off to LHP Justin King for his second consecutive scoreless relief outing. There are pluses in that Biloxi box score we just have to squint and find them. At this stage of their disappointing season, I'm looking for bread crumbs. It's hard to fathom a worse start for INF Ethan Murray. This is bringing deep shades of his offensive struggles at High-A Wisconsin back in 2022. Last season gave me great hopes he had set a new baseline offensively. It's hard to see this as anything other than a significant regression. A darn shame.

    With Dunn and Clarke everyday guys in this current Sounds lineup (granted, we're playing Charlotte here) the Sounds suddenly have a little bit of firepower and savvy in that 1-through-5 in the lineup. Much more enjoyable watch for this ol' codger.

    Man, this Carolina skid is making me all sorts of sad face. Gotta grind and get back in the win column! RHP Jesus Rivero still trying to find his form from early season - 2 1/3 IP and 3 more BB's. Ugh. On the flip side another scoreless bounce back outing from RHP Aidan Maldonado.

    Just getting down to check what happened in the system after about a 14.5 hour Dad and Farmer day. Drove an hour four times. Took a kid to swimming. No animals died (yet). Ready to watch some innings before I pass out and do it again tomorrow.
