    Fantastic work by Corniel to reclaim his tools and make a monument to end the inning - two swinging K's. He gets the last on a beautiful change-up that dipped outside the zone at the last second. He works around the walk and the brief inaccuracies. Let's go, young man! Find that groove!

    And, after a pop up to 3B foul territory (nice charging sprinting grab by LF Yoshwar Garcia) Corniel walked the next batter on 5 pitches (none particularly close). He goes 2-0 on the next hitter and that's six straight balls. He struggles to find the zone here early.

    Castillo strands both on a first pitch sky high chopper to 1B. On to the bottom half where Corniel will look to bounce back from his disastrous third inning his last time out.

    Boy, Cooper Pratt missed a two-run first inning HR by about 3 feet. That was a jack in most every Carolina League park. Charleston? Not so much - a known pitcher's park. He got a hold of that one. The lengthy LF'er caught it fully stretched at the top of the wall. A Yophery BB. And, now David Garcia lined a single to CF. Men on the corners. Two down. Good start considering yesterday's snoozy woozy six hit effort.

    Hey 5 IP, 2 ER with this version of Ashby? Can not expect any better vs this Phillies lineup. Saves the Pen to a degree. Doesn't completely embarrass himself or the club. This is a big W regardless of how this game goes on many more levels than a simple W/L. It's early June. Phillies are studs.

    In 2024, Aaron Ashby can walk anybody and everybody. You literally never know what you're getting.

    AND hit the game-winning 2-RBI 8th inning single to RF in the T-Rats comeback 'W'! Heck of a return!

    Nice showing for the T-Rats today. Lara had his moment. Patient AB's in the 8th. Cruz did not show well, unfortunately. Rund made his mark. Kuehner continues to validate my early faith in his tools. Love seeing the big kahunas make it upstate to watch their team!

    I mean let's give RHP Aaron Rund some more LOVE: First affiliated SVO. First Save earned. Check. 1-0, 1 SV, 19 1/3 IP, 1.03 WHIP, 15 K, 8 BB, 2 HB, 0 HR, 0.188 BAA That's just fantastic production. Given he's approaching 25 mid-month, I'm imagining the Brewers are looking at him as a likely Double-A promotion candidate if he can keep this up in high-leverage spots moving forward. Slightly older for the Level. BUT, again, this is his first affiliated action in 2024 - he went to the Frontier League after finishing at Campbell University via Sacramento City College. The Brewers will find you. Just keep doing your thang.

    Pressure is on you, now, Cedar Rapids. You trail these pesky T-Rats by 1.5 G. You are on the road at Great Lakes. 13 games remain for these Rattlers. Let's win a division half for the first time in over 12 years!

    Rund gets the fly out to RF. The groundout to 2B. AND, he takes a 3-2 count and rips a gorgeous 94 mph tailing heater to the upper corner (righty bat). What. A. MOMENT! That's Rund's FIRST Save in affiliated baseball in his first SVO. What. A. Comeback. Opportunistic. Gritty. Never say die T-Rats. Flashback: Rund was signed out of the Frontier League in December of 2023. He played all of last season for the 'Florence Y'alls'. He has been consistently solid all season long for manager Victor Estevez. In 19 1/3 IP to date, he now is 1-0 with 1 S in 1 SVO. Only 3 earned runs allowed. 15 K: 8 BB. Just a really understated and undervalued pitcher coming into his own. He has a three-pitch mix he leans on and his heat has plenty of movement to cause uncertainty with hitters. He is 24 years old.

    Unsung RHP Aaron Rund will try to close it out in his 15th appearance. BIG big moment for him in his first SVO.

    And, the threat ends on a chopper up the middle DP. 2B steps on the bag and nabs Areinamo running to first by about 10-12 feet. With the bases juiced, that ball was hit right into the defense, unfortunately. Big inning none the less! T-Rats will try to steal this one 6-5 as we head to the 9th!

    O'Rae walks on four pitches. Wow. Areinamo will be the 9th batter of the 8th frame. What a wild and unexpected frame. Bases juiced yet again!

    Lara takes 2B. Eliminates the DP. 18 or 19th SB. Can't recall.

    WOW. An 0-2 ripped two-run single to RF. What an AB by Lara. He pulled that rocket through the right side off the glove of the diving 1B. 6-5 T-Rats. O'Rae to the dish!

    Vargas lines an RBI single in a 1-2 count over the leaping SS. Ball was slightly left up. Huge hit. 5-4 deficit. Tying run at 3rd. Lead run at 2B. Lara, in his first game back off IL, will face the new pitcher. One down. Bases still juiced. Whew. What a development.

    3-1 count to OF Eduarqui Fernandez. One down. Bases juiced. He lays off and takes the RBI walk. Bases still juiced. 5-3 deficit now. Vargas to the dish.

    It's worth noting, even though the T-Rats hold a 5-2 series advantage coming into today's knock they only lead the run differential by 2 vs these River Bandits. These games have been much closer than that mark would advertise.

    And, now his 4th hit conceded to a lefty bat. A line drive single to RF.

    Cruz gives up his 2nd HR. He is really struggling against these lefties. That ball hit hard and deep over the straightaway CF wall. That's now two long balls. 3 total runs allowed. Three hits in 1.0 IP so far. Manager Victor Estevez is going to leave him in here to try and work his way into success. I should add: he's faced two righty bats so far and punched them both out.

    Areinamo gives it a ride to the RF warning track but the ball falls about 6' short of a HR distance. Lara stays at 1B. On to the 8th frame. Still 4-2 River Bandits. That hanging two-run jack looms large here late.

    WOW, the DSL Cerveceros Dos came back to win it in the 10th! That's an opening game DSL sweep. 10-9 victory for the Dos. Two huge Broca K's escaped the 10th. Then SS Jorge Quintana earned his first hit of his season in a 1-for-5 day by smacking an apparent triple scoring the winning run (Moises Polanco - RBI single) from 1B. Heck of an opening 'W'!

    AND, Cruz puts the heater right in Squier's wheelhouse. Bad mistake. He absolutely obliterated that pitch.
