    Well, just had a 13 hour day. Including a mid-day three hour jaunt into Sandpoint, ID to get my kiddo situated for her first day of school tomorrow. Taught her how to ride her bike after training wheels were taken off (much success!) and came back home to do some fire mitigation work and then squash harvest with a bevy of farm animal duties in 100F heat. Yeah, I'm ready for Fall. Great Scotts! It's a 4-0 beginning to the week!! First half time machine! Let's GO! Ok. Time to write a report. 🙃

    I see LHP Bjorn Johson got out of Hernandez's bases loaded two out jam in the 6th without surrendering a run. I see he then gave up a five-spot in the bottom of the 7th? Yeeesh. 9-5 Mudcats. Trying to hold on for a 'W'.

    They've needed their more tenured bats to get going... Di Turi 2-for-4, 2RBI, 1 2B, 1 R, 1 K Bitonti 2-for-2, 2 BB, 1 R, 2RBI, 1 2B Melvin absolutely doing Melvin things. Can he pitch all 7? 😁

    Well they haven't exactly given is all a lot to write about, if we're being honest. Labor Day is also a family holiday. Grateful the Shuckers broke their skid and atarted this week with a victory! It's my harvest season, now, and all my farm work is ramped up to the gills. Kiddo #2 starts school again Wednesday. I am going to be minimally active in game threads this week amd will likely only be able to speed through condensed games for myself or watch select innings here and there.

    Yeah, the Quad Cities outing wasn't all that impressive - that's why you likely didn't come away feeling all that, well, impressed. Everything was up. Nowhere near the movement we had at Beloit. If you want to see the pinnacle expression of how his stuff currently plays, imho, do yourself a favor and go watch that previous road Beloit outing.

    Just really exciting to hear RHP Manuel Rodriguez go on record and say his upcoming off-season will feature a heavy dose of focusing on increasing his Velo. Really really hoping that pays dividends.

    It's obviously not an ideal August - on both sides of the ball. But, I would opine he is simply an 18-year-old who is likely pressing after a promotion. This is our first experience seeing him in any kind of slump. My only takeaway at present is his first taste of High-A was a cruel one.

    Really nice to see a bounce back RHP Garrett Stallings 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 7 K, 0 R outing! Great way to turn the page to September after an uncharacteristically poor August. LHP Brian Fitzpatrick followed with a clean 1.0 IP of 1 K, 0 BB, 0 H. 0 R 7th. Sounds lead 4-0.

    I had a nagging feeling when RHP Aaron Rund came aboard, walked his first batter and then threw a first pitch ball to the next it was likely not a good sign. His tailspin continues in 2025 as the 26-year-old Indy signing from 2024, unfirtunately, blows another one in his 1.0 1 H, 2 BB, 3 ER outing. He certainly hasn't had an ounce of luck lately but I think, given his age and experience, the Brewers are likely looking for more. T-Rate lose again 4-2. Sooooooo many losses in this second half. Really a rough system-wide full-season affiliate kind of spiral. Grateful the Sounds are playing better of late and grateful the Shuckers are appearing to get healthy at the right time.

    Indeed. I feel you and I really feel for those long-tenured fans. Would be just incredible to give them a Home Playoff game.

    Nope. Failures to execute in the clutch for the young Pups. It certainly happens. Just happening a little too much in a Stadium send off. It's also extremely hard for this line-up to do all that much with Bitonti and Di Turi swinging the bat like they are. That is overly relying on the very young and inexperienced Handelfry, Anderson and Ebel. I think Ragsdale is showing he can get on base quite well. Payne is swinging a decent bat but he is typically leading off or at the top of the order. The Run Producers aren't really producing. Still Seven Games remaining to go for the improbable! Season isn't over yet! Encouraging pitching signs of late. We can lean into that.

    The Five County and Mudcats fans deserved a much better send off than this very likely last Home series played at Five County Stadium. The Hush Puppies close it out with another loss in a 1-0 Shutout. I can hear their mascot now "Woooooooooof!".

    I think the late rebrand for the Mudcats offense might be... 'The Hush Puppies' (Come on...trying a little reverse virtual psychology 😉)

    Yeah and with the way they are playing over the past month? This half looks like a replica fade alá the first half. Uncanny. I have very little confidence things magically turn around but I certainly am hoping they do and will be rooting for that outcome! How about the young men start with a victory in the last ever regular season Home game at Five county Stadium. Showing some grit and pride for the Legacy of that org and ball park. 😬

    This Devanney news got me all nostalgic for the 2022 Shuckers season. I recall he essentially took the starting 3B job from Ashton McGee as an injury replacement in the first game of the season @ Pensacola. Cam really never looked back. It got me looking elsewhere. It appears RHP Zach Vennarro (High Point) and RHP Kent Hasler (Gastonia) are both pitching in the Atlantic League. Hasler is having a really nice relief year with 57 K in 41.0 IP.

    Black has a 7-Game hit streak that has helped bump his August numbers to .256/.440/.339. 21 K:20 BB. A really solid month. Hopefully the best is yet to come. The 2 2B and 1 HR as the sole XBH's (3rd HR of his entire season tonight). are certainly a thing. Miles to go.

    Looks like the sleeping Mudcats will be 2.0 GB after tonight Fayetteville is also trailing Myrtle Beach late. They would fall to 2.5 GB.
