    RHP TJ Shook worked around some hard contact (mostly of the good kind right to his defense or in their vicinity) in his first inning plus but really showed fine form in a challenging relief ask after the rain delay. He really came into his own the final two frames. His final line reads: 4 2/3 IP, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 ER, 4 K Fantastic effort. Not to be lost in the same line of observation, RHP Max Lazar came on for the final inning of work with the 6-1 lead. Just dialed with the sinking off-speed breaking ball deliveries for consecutive K's to start his work. He works around a two out shallow liner to LF and gets his 3rd K in just one inning of work on a swinging miss of a high heater to the upper corner of the zone. You absolutely love to see this work from the relief staff in what has been an unpredictable adventure. The Shuckers move to 10-9 in the second half tied with Pensacola. Woot woot. Let's keep it going!

    I am befuddled by the number of routine errors I am seeing between the talented INF's Ethan Murray and Freddy Zamora at SS in recent games. It's uncanny between these two. Both very talented defenders. Both making ridiculously silly errors of late. Murray with another ridiculous botch of an extremely routine grounder right to him to end the 7th...but, now it goes right through his legs and the inning extends. They can stop now and get back to handling things the way I absolutely know they can. Let's go, gents.

    BTW, Chourio is now only 6 HR away from being the first teenager to have a 20/20 (SB/HR) in the High Minors since at least 2005. He's, ummmm, special.

    OK. @wiguy94. I surmise something may have happened during the third pitch of his AB. Monster swing and miss on an off-speed delivery that ducked low out of the zone. After the swing and miss he turned out of the batters box. Re-approached and had to walk away and take a timeout. He doesn't look comfortable to me when he gets into the box. The ump is looking at him to survey the scene. He's working something out in his shoulders. Takes a big hack on the next pitch. Next pitch is a ball. He's still working his upper body in the interim. He hits a 3-2 chopper to the mound. He sprints out of the box then immediately slows down. SO, I would surmise it's either something during that massive hack. OR, it's something tweaked (?) leaving the batters box down 1B line. That's my take on the situation. Or, as you say, he's just pulled in a 6-1 game? Not likely, imho. For any alternative takes or to watch the AB, anyone can go to 4:21:28 on the MiLB.TV replay.

    Just watched an infield ump blow another call versus the Brewers org. INF Tyler Black easily stole 2B. He came off the bag for a nano second. The Biscuits tag was deliberate and clearly after Black got his foot back on the bag (4th time on base - 3rd walk here in the 6th). No matter, it's the Minor Leagues where nearly all infield umps are, ummm, working on their craft. Yeah, that's it. Naturally, that was a big blown call as Chourio lined a single into right CF on the very next pitch. Black scores on that knock. Boooooo.

    The Sounds now have TWO different 8-run innings tonight. LOL. Let's do this every night. We're on to the 7th, mercifully. Still 17-3 Sounds.

    Toro makes it 5-for-5 with a well hit liner to RF. My goodness. 17-3. LOL. Whewwwww BABY. Just gimme gimme gimmmmmmmme.

    Oh dear. It. Is. A. ROUT. INF Luis Urías now has a 4-RBI game. He hits a looping liner to shallow LF and takes 2B on the throw. It is now 15-3. One down. Men on 2nd and 3rd. These games are much much more fun when the Sounds have the bigger number😅.

    Dorrian is up in a full count looking for his second grand salami. After fouling off five straight pitches in a full count he strikes out on a really nice change-up low and dipping below the zone. Fear not, OF Monte Harrison grabs his third knock of his evening a single into LF and it's now 13-3 Sounds. My goodness. Still one down. Bases still juiced. The Jumbo Shrimp will look to make a pitching change.

    Boy INF Cam Devanney just missed an absolute rocket launch 3-run HR by about 6-9' left of the LF foul pole. That ball was absolutely crushed. Instead, as we know, it's a reallllly long hard hit foul ball. He takes ball four inside on the next pitch. The bases are juiced now. STILL nobody down. We may see a field player for Jacksonville this inning.

    The ongoing 2023 RHP Jeison Pena 'experiment' is in it's trial phase tonight. Four runs allowed so far. Walk, HB, wild pitch, single, double, sac fly. Mudcats still lead 8-5. Two down. They came into the inning up 8-1. Pena really can't get it going in 2023 - it's a roller coaster. OK, Mudcats win as Pena strikes out his last batter. 8-5, baby. Meanwhile Skye Bolt just sent two across on a 2-run single to RF. It's 11-3. Still nobody down. Men on the corners for C Payton Henry. AND, Henry singles a ball into CF. Five in a row reached here in the 6th. It's 12-3. Men on the corners again. Nobody out.

    Hiura takes a four-pitch walk and the bases are juiced now. Nobody down here in the bottom of the 6th. Sounds lead 9-3. OF Skye Bolt is the batter. Let's see if the Sounds can really break this open.

    Line drive base hit knock to LF and Abraham Toro is 4-for-4 tonight. He is a ridiculous 10-for-16 in this series. The. Man. Hits.

    OF Sal Frelick just came up lame after taking a rocket foul ball off the top of his right foot. My goodness. He was writhing in pain. Got up and hobbled like an old man using his bat as a cane. Assistant trainer came out. He stayed in the box grimacing. And, on the next pitch, ripped a groundball single into RF. He appears OK. Please stay healthy, young man!

    They are still delayed due to rain in Montgomery in the 4th frame but, make no mistake about it, the talented Shuckers offense was on full display. The worst part of this game, as it currently stands, is if they restart this one they'll surely lose further work from their Ace RHP Carlos F. Rodriguez. It would really stretch their beleaguered bullpen.

    Things are getting preposterous for 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. as we head to close out the month of July. Whewww. Before tonights 2-run HR blast? 64 PA, 0.404 BA, 1.118 OPS, 2 2B, 4 HR, 12 R, 9 RBI, 7 BB, 10 K, 4 SB, 1 CS Again, before he hit another two-run jack tonight. In essence, in July he is hitting a double or a homer in 1 out of every 9.57 AB's (if we count tonight's current AB's and long ball). 😲

    INF Luke Adams continues his mid-season surge. This was a matter of time. 2-for-3, 2 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB (25th of 2023). Man, I love this young man's game. So much potential yet untapped. This feels like the tip of the proverbial iceberg. The work ethic and passion is so obviously there.

    I see Mr. Abraham Toro continues to showcase why he is a primary 1B fill-in candidate. He continues to play solid on the receiving end. He continues to hit the hyeck out of the baseball. 3-for-3, 2 2B today.

    The Sounds will look to take a 3-1 series lead against the Marlins' Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp. RHP Janson Junk will definitely look to reverse his fortunes and outcomes from what has been a very rough July to date - 2 GS, 5 1/3 IP, 12 H, 10 ER, 1 HR, 1 HB, 5 BB, 4 K, 0.462 BAA, 3.19 WHIP, 16.88 ERA. Yikes. Let's turn that around, Mr. Junk. Meanwhile, the ongoing Urías lead-off experiment continues and I'm not sure what to think about that😅. Can OF Sal Frelick continue his personal best output from last night? Stay tuned...

    The hot bats is a thing across the system at present - and oh how sweet it is! Here are some Biloxi Shuckers tidbits. Be sure to check these out: I've been touting INF Isaac Collins under-the-radar season all week and it is really nice to hear some thoughts from the Shuckers very likable hitting coach, Chuckie Caufield.

    We have our lineup in for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers - we certainly hope they can keep the good times rolling as their games have been a barrel of fun at Dayton! RHP Tyler Woessner has been solid in July, if unspectacular (.261 BAA), and has managed to keep the scores down with a 2.08 ERA - execution when it matters most. If the T-Rats bats keep swinging like they've been swinging, however, it may not even matter. From today's Game Notes: Yeah, that'll play!
