  1. So, that settles that. It was the swing. Thankfully, it's just a bruised hand. Big sigh of relief!
  2. There it is. I refer anyone to our recent Friday GT re: Quero and a possible injury we witnessed after the rain delay. @wiguy94opined at the time (a few posts above) he didn't think anything happened. It may have looked benign-ish. I opined, it seemed clear (to my eyes) something may have happened after the massive swing and miss and unorthodox manner by which he re-entered the batters box or the manner by which he pulled up running the first base line. It's funny how two avid watchers see two entirely different things but that's why we watch the games. What was absolutely clear to me, at the time, was pulling Quero after his AB was anything but planned. You don't pull your star catcher in a 6-1 game. That is far from 'in the bag'. We'll just have to stay tuned to the live Shuckers games and pre-game interviews this week to see if we get anything from announcer Javik Blake or manager Mike Guerrero. Hopefully, this is just a nagging something!
  3. - INF Alexander Perez was assigned to the ACL Brewers from the Carolina Mudcats
  4. RHP Justin Jarvis continues to struggle in his adjustment to the International League. 2 1/3 IP, 5 H, 5 BB (yikes), 2 K, 6 ER That's going to do some damage to the ERA and WHIP...
  5. Boy the Mudcats sure got charitable after they reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the 5th. Must have been the 5-0 series lead and the 13-1 victory Saturday. The bullpen gives up 13 runs from the 6th onward 🥴 Mudcats lose 17-7.
  6. 3B Ben Metzinger just got a hold of one in the 6th to straight away left center field. It was a two run shot with two donw scoring OF Hendry Mendez who had gotten aboard leading off the frame with a single. The T-Rats have tied it up 4-4. DH Darrien Miller stayed red hot early hitting his 7th long ball of 2023 to take the brief 2-1 T-Rats lead. There are two down in the 6th as the Rattlers will look to try to keep the runs scoring.
  7. OF Jace Avina is doing his best to get above the Mendoza Line. He is 2-for-3 so far today with 2 more RBI. After the Mudcats had tied the game on a 5th inning 2-rbi single by Avina, they took the one run lead on a INF Jadher Areinamo sac fly. However, RHP Tyler Wehrle gave that lead right back with a two-run jack. He just gave up his 2nd 2-run jack of the inning on a two out 1-2 count. Mudcats suddenly trail 8-5.
  8. There have been many more good nights than 'bad' ones in this early second half. Here is hoping we are in store for a very special second half of Brewers Minor League baseball. If baseball is the ultimate sport of sample sizes, then I am going to simply keep enjoying and savoring the heck out of the current one. Happy Sunday, everyone!
  9. Something tells me tonight's 6 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 1 ER, 6 K isn't going to damage this output all that much: 😯 Muh man. I've loved him since his first outing as a Mudcat in 2022. He has that 'It' you look for in a starting pitcher. Highly competitive. Unafraid. Has stuff. Will throw it.
  10. Much sharper version of RHP Thyago Vieira coming off his recent stint on the IL. He was done in by a weak infield chopper that advanced 'Manfred's Man'. He gets the 10th inning ending K on a 100 mph blazing heater. Really refreshing showing in Xtras.
  11. He missed a grand slam by about 3'. Man that was a deeeeeeep tailing fly to the high high left center field wall - 104 mph off the bat. Dang. That would have been something.
  12. In a re-watch of RHP Cam Robinson's 9th inning: He was also a subtle victim of a very tight strikezone. Other than two heaters that got away from him, I didn't dislike any pitches. I'll take those walks. He didn't give anything. He got out of it with a weak pop-up into 1B foul territory, a sinker K on a very dangerous lefty, and a hard ground out to 2B. You'll take that from your closer on any night, honestly - not ideal...but you live with the nibblings and the umpire's zone.
  13. You think INF Tyler Black has some strength? Look at his drive arm here. His elbow is sitting in his hip. That's an elevated high and inside heater he turned on at the last second and absolutely muscled over the wall in RF for a two-run jack. The man is on another level. Wind was casually blowing in from RF as well. Just Bobby Muscles.
  14. INF Tyler Black. He's kind of a good hitter. Holy hyeck we are going to LOVE his game with the Brewers. LOVE. Everything about the way he plays is a turnkey Milwaukee experience. He is going to pair so sublimely with Frelick. Oh babyyyyyyyy.
  15. Also, kudos to Montgomery! They went with their 'Kimchi' look tonight. Only in Minor League baseball would you get a 'Kimchi' moniker and celebration. AND, I love it. Kimchi is awesome!😅 It's a celebration of Korean culture and food and I am absolutely here for it. Korean food is amazing. 16. I'm going back and re-watching the end of the 8th and the 9th in Biloxi. It was 5-2 Montgomery and Vennarro hung an absolute meatball 2-2, two out slider (well, it looked like a call for a slider and a slider that just never slid - I could be wrong - but, it was a hanger) that sat for maybe 30 seconds over the heart of the plate 😅. I still can't believe what I witnessed in the 9th.
  17. Bump. When you've watched this young man play in Biloxi and Nashville for over a year, you know: his defense is elite. Undersold across the board with his glove and arm. Happy he proved it, again, tonight! What a debut.
  18. RHP Robbie Baker has now allowed at least one HR in 8 of his past 11 outings. He allowed another long ball tonight. 3 IP, 1 H, 1 HR, 1 ER, 3 K. A much better outing, all things considered, but he can not keep giving up these long balls and expect to make headway in the system. Shuckers trail 5-2 late. Chourio is 2-for-4 with his first 3B of his season. OPS is fast approaching 0.800 after months of waffling between 0.690 - 0.740.
  19. Well that Mudcats Box is filled with intrigue. Really nice to see that relief line for talented RHP Jesus Rivero. How about OF Jace Avina going 4-for-5?!?
  20. I discussed it in last night's GT. Looked to me like he possibly tweaked something on a mighty swing and miss in the 6th or possibly while exiting the batter box during his ground out in the same AB. We likely won't know any time soon, unfortunately.
  21. He's been great this past week. Hopefully, he runs with this. He will surprise you with his glove and arm, to boot. Very underrated arm.
  22. After the DSL Cerveceros were swept by the DSL Guardians clubs in the am, the evening affiliates and rookie ballers went a combined 4-1. The lone loss the T-Rats dropping their first game at Dayton. We're seeing some really good nights here of late. Hopefully, we can keep these good results going!
