    1B/DH/LF Yeison Perez alert: 2-for-2, 1 R, 3 BB Season BA up to 0.313 and OPS up to 0.841 He's starting to wake up and make some more noise...let's go, young man!

    Another facet of the DSL Cerveceros Uno Box and Game Logs that is popping out to me as I finish up my Minor League report: Don't sleep on OF Brian Sanchez. Very intriguing contact numbers. Very healthy BB:K ratio. There's definitely enough there in 94 PA's to be very intrigued.

    Agreed. This was a much improved game from Zamora, however, and I'll absolutely take that. He needs to make these performances routine and that type of lazy eat him up grounder the absolute exception. As my eyes see it on the nightly, that's his Achilles' Heel at present: too suave and nonchalant with those weakly hit grounders. I've seen him biff too many in 2023 to date and they are plays we all know he can make. He's an incredibly smooth athlete overall. As a fan, I simply want to see him expedite that sense of urgency. The arm has the strength and it would appear - for the most part - the pre-injury 2022 accuracy woes are mostly behind him. Murray even gave you a nice web gem grab and rocket to first from beyond the 3B foul line. Fun game to go to!

    Fantastic work from Vieira. We will take that effort any night. Just really really dialed in with his off-speed stuff early and often and that made his heater lethal. He gets 2 K. A weak 91.3 mph dribbler through the infield scored 1. BUT he gets the Save and helps the Sounds win a big one they really had no business winning for the majority of the game. Love the fight. Love the spirit. Great win.

    Rough outing for LHP Clayton Andrews tonight. He just didn't have it whatsoever. He leaves the bases juiced with only one down for RHP Thyago Vieira. The Sounds are clinging to a 10-7 lead. Andrews came to the hill with nobody on and nobody out to start the inning. Since his option assignment from the Crew he just hasn't been nearly as sharp.

    He bruised his hand on the swing in the 6th inning this past Friday. I talked about it at length in the original GT this past Friday. Cyrt Hogg confirmed it today in a tweet that it was indeed the hand (my speculation here as it was the only swing during the final AB it could have been - fwiw, I linked the GT in the Minor League Transactions thread if you care to look at it.):

    Robinson follows with a beautiful curve for the swinging K for the first out - spin rate on that was roughly 2600 rpm while 83 mph on the gun. He gets the deep line out to Sparks in RF. He closes with the weakly hit grounder to 2B. He dug deep. He executed during adversity. He grabbed his 8th Save. Wonderful work, Cam!

    RHP Cam Robinson is on the hill attempting to protect the 9th inning 7-4 Shuckers lead. His first batter faced hits an absurdly weak topped swinging bunt down the 3B line and he gets aboard. He now walks the next batter on five pitches. Man, this is just classic 2023 Cam. Let's hope he finds some form and gets out of this. It just never feels easy this season.

    He escapes! He gets the weakly hit infield looping flare and INF Gregory Barrios successfully charges and snags it. Mudcats win 6-5!

    RHP Jeison Pena just sailed another pitch to the backstop getting the tying run into scoring position. He still has the precarious 6-5 lead. He has two down. He has a 2-2 count. Lets see what we get here...the suspense is palpable!

    C Wes Clarke is pulled from the game after taking an inside heater that rose up and in directly off his lead elbow pad. That was a square smack - the umps originally mistakenly said it hit his bat (nowhere close). He was writhing in pain at what was clearly something nerve related going on with his hand. Let's hope he's OK!

    Oh my word. What a play to keep the lead! The Firefly batter sends a high pop fly down the RF line. Castillo charges and catches cleanly. Two down. The runner tags. Castillo throws accurately to home plate. Sibrian collects it while laying on the dirt where he had to corral the catch about 4' up the line. The runner charges and leaps entirely over Sibrian but lands past home plate. Sibrian sees this and quickly leaps to tag the runner as he fails in an attempt to get back to home base. WHEW! 6-5 Mudcats baby. Heck of a play by Sibrian. Seriously impressive. Tie goes to the Catcher, BABY!

    Pena got a pop out to 1B in foul territory. But, on the ensuing batter he skies a pitch high and outside to the back stop and it sends the runner to 3B. Come on, young man. Dig deep here. Let's get out of this.

    Meanwhile, Devanney just roped a lunging liner down the LF line and the Sounds suddenly lead 9-6 after trailing 6-5 moments ago with the bases dripping and two down. What an awesome rally.

    Leading 6-3 in the 8th, manager Victor Estevez turned to the RHP Jeison Pena experiment. Not a favorable one in 2023. I've seen this young arm blow leads and give up many runs in many outings. He has already given up two quick runs here on three straight hits. Nobody down. He just isn't an arm you can trust at present. Ugh. Let's hope he can turn it around from here. I have my own doubts.

    This may be the Sounds best chance to tie or take a lead here in the bottom of the 8th frame. They trail 6-5. A Josh Van Meter walk loads the bases for INF Abraham Toro and he delivers with a 2-rbi liner to LF! Sounds lead 7-6. Whoa. That was wonderful.

    A clean inning for RHP Ryan Middendorf with two clean scoops and throws from SS by INF Freddy Zamora. Confirmed: an angel got its wings.

    The Shuckers are going to break their single season steals record of 162 (set last year) with 47 games remaining. This offense is just ridiculous. SO much Double-A talent with the lumber and on the base paths.

    Not to be outdone! 1B Wes Clarke rips a back-to-back liner off the light pole over the left field wall. He stings it at 104 mph off the bat. 6-4 Shuckers. 32nd Homer of July for the Shuckers. This is the 11th time in 12 games the Shuckers have scored 6 or more runs. Zamora rips a 102 mph liner the SS makes a leaping snag of. Tune into the Shuckers, folks. This offense is on an electric run right now.

    His name is Collins. Isaac Collins. 414'. 101 mph off the wood. 5-4 Shuckers as they take the lead Meeker just gave right back. Collins is ridiculous right now. That's the Shuckers 31st homer of JULY. Wheewwwwww.

    OF Luis Lara, hitting in the 3-hole, just smacked a deep fly triple to the wall in dead right center field. Knocks two runs across. 6-2 Mudcats. Let's go!

    1B Tayden Hall grabs that Columbia run right back knocking across OF Jace Avina (lead-off dub, advanced via sac fly) with a hard hit line drive that short-hopped and bounced over the 2B. That ball was smacked. 4-2 Mudcats. Guilarte follows with a looping liner to LF and we now have men on 1st and 2nd.

    C Nick Kahle just rocketed a 105 mph dart over the LF wall for a 3-run HR jack. Shuckers now lead 4-2! Glorious.

    Kudos to RHP Chase Costello for escaping that bases loaded jam with only one run allowed. He was hung out to dry by Barrios' error and dug deep. He allows just one run on a liner back to the mound and off his glove. He then gets the fly out to end the inning after K'ng for the first out. 3-2 Mudcats.

    By golly the Sounds just tied it up here in the 6th after a Naquin solo jack and a Payton Henry two-run bomb. It's 5-5 and we have a new ball game. I would absolutely love to see the exit velo on that Naquin liner. That was an absolute line drive bullet that left the yard in what felt like a half second. Henry's oppo liner was no bloop either. Both balls were hit extremely hard.
