    Boy these releases are coming in all too frequently this week. It's never easy to report these and, as always, we wish each and every player the very best moving forward. Thankfully, our colleague and friend @damuelle will give each and every player mentioned the farewell words they deserve.

    I actually have a weird sense of confidence this is the year Deguara shines. I personally feel he is a better player than given credit for and has improved significantly in the run game. I think Love helps him get involved quite a but more in the passing game.

    Great ?. Unfortunately, no. Lusk re-signed with the now Lexington Counter Clocks (South Division of the Atlantic League - they were the Lexington Legends as recently as the 2022 season) mid March. Hopefully he can get into affiliated ball some time this year, however. I believe he'll be managed by former MLB catcher Barry Lions in 2023 as well as pitching coach Cameron Roth (who managed Lake Erie of the Frontier League awhile back).

    As a perennial watcher of Sounds games, I am excited to see Keston swing the lumber at Triple-A. He can absolutely get hot and rake in the International League - I recall some key hits just last season down in Jacksonville that tilted the series very much in the Sounds favor. I've seen him hit some mammoth dingers down yonder. I will be entertained (I hope😄).

    Asking for protections back in 2025 if A-Rod doesn't return is a 'no go' from my vantage point. If they stick hard to that, dig in the heels. That's the risk they take for the opportunity to have a meaningful shot. The 2024 compensation is also the validation of why the Packers aren't demanding a 1st rd pick imho.

    Yeah, hopefully we amend and edit the article to reflect these recent updates. Thanks for the reminders @ARobsBrewCrew. Daniel and I thought Brady might get a shot to step into a relief role in 2023 given his work in the latter part of 2022 - I was sad to see that released back in December. Christian was released the month prior, if I recall. Junior Montero was released by Carolina back in early August of last summer on the same day as or right around the time Mendoza was given his walking papers in the ACL. I don't believe any of these young pitchers have signed on elsewhere - but I certainly could be wrong.

    As the Brewers spring training edges closer to it's finality, we have more roster moves: INF Abraham Toro and RHP Tyson Miller have been optioned to the Nashville Sounds

    Closing the spring training INF/OF Weston Wilson loop: Though he made it to the final cuts after a very solid spring, he was ultimately sent back to minor league camp. It would appear he'll take his talents to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (man, I love that name) of the International League. Sadly, the IronPigs don't face the Sounds in 2023 regular season play, so we'll just have to keep hoping Wilson gets his opportunity to show his talents with the Phillies at some point this season.

    I am going to go out on a very strong limb: No way is Middendorf starting in High-A. Nope. I just can't see it happening given his ongoing career arc. He'll most likely be given the set-up opportunity for Uribe down in Biloxi but he very well might start in Nashville (he hasn't given up a run all Spring). He really has a chance to be special and, as I've been saying for several months, he might be our best 7th/8th inning prospect at present. I consider Jakob Brustoski's #YearOfCommand 2023 season one of the more obscure but fun and exciting in all the Brewers Minor League. I really really hope his off-season posture assessments (neck issue in delivery) bear fruit. IF he could find control consistently, all the stuff is there to be a dominant high-leverage lefty. That's a big capital 'if', but that's largely the reason we love following and watching these guys. I'm rooting hard. As an aside, one of the pitchers that really caught my eye last summer in the ACL - despite inconsistent results and despite flashy numbers overall - was RHP Anthony Perez. Like many young pitchers, he struggled with command. IF, he can develop a more fine-tuned approach, there is a proverbial diamond in the rough here. Another young arm I am hoping to track in Carolina. Here's hoping he gets a shot in affiliated ball.

    Another surprise before our 2023 season. It's never easy to see these young men move on. Best of luck to Kent. I tend to agree with his performance coach here: this 'should' be quite an easy pick-up given what he's showed to date in affiliated ball. And (sighs), what a difference a year makes. Last year he was coming into the affilited regular season after successful appearances on the Brewers spring training mound. He quickly became Ayrault's lead set-up man for closer Cam Robinson. He never found that dominant form he displayed in High-A after was promoted, BUT, hopefully he showed enough promise that he is signed quickly. Thank you for your efforts, Mr. Hasler.

    (I don't know where to put this so feel free to move to the appropriate thread) Very cool article here about Counsell's recent trip to the Dominican Republic. He visited the Brewers Baseball Academy outside Santo Domingo as well as Freddy Peralta's childhood home and the diamond where Wily Adames first signed a professional contract. He addressed everyone at the academy in Spanish - which, if you've ever done in a Spanish-speaking country, is no small feat. Hard not to love him as the Brewers manager.

    That is odd with De La Cruz. Hopefully, everything is alright there with his health and with his family. He had a very solid year between the ACL and Carolina in 2022.

    Was just coming here to post his release. Alas, I was so happy to see you had beat me to it adorning it with those informational tidbits that you do so darn well. I wish him the best moving forward. He showed signs of an effective relief pitcher last year. I sincerely hope he pulls it together.

    Yeoman's work completing all these write-ups! Well done! If we are talking left fielders in Wisconsin, we have to include Carlos Rodriguez in that mix. He was playing the best baseball of his career as the starting left fielder before his ACL tear. If and when he is healthy again, every player listed is highly likely his back-up. Additionally, Eduarqui Fernandez more than made a name for himself late last year in Zebulon. I anticipate he'll continue to see split duties between CF and LF amongst a very talented crop of OF'ers. I personally don't see a way Perez starts his season anywhere other than Carolina's outfield grass given he's still 19 and struggled to find any consistency in 2022. Then again, if I pay attention to Minor League ST lineups, I might be entirely off base. Regardless, the greater group of Castillo, Avina, Fernandez, Perez, and Mendez is an extremely exciting and entertaining group. It's simply a hard proposition to imagine these talented but very young players heading North with the Lamar Sparks signing and Je'Von Ward's return. The organization also seems to covet Reidy Mercado in a manner similar to Terence Doston. It's going to be fun seeing how the rosters take shape to begin 2023!
