    Hey now. I mean, I wouldn't complain as you know. He's electric. I just tend to think the Brewers may be coming from a place of wanting to give him more innings and exposure.

    Got it. Thank you. I was just going off this year. I think that was his first hit he surrendered this year? I have been more concerned with the walks in 2023. And, tonight it bit him in the proverbial behind.

    I might be missing something but isn't that his first HR surrendered? I would say more than that how can he limit the free passes?

    The 'problem' I had with Junk coming up is he literally has to be perfect with his stuff. There's just no room for error given his velo and minimal movement. He actually reminds me quite a bit of RHP Dylan File - who is pitching in the KBO this season. It's a tough ask. At this stage, he really is a Triple-A pitcher by my eyes. And, that's not a bad thing. But, it's a big ask to expect him to fulfill meaningful rotation innings.

    Let's take a look at that gorgeous Tyler Black home run swing: Missed HR number 2 by about 6' with the wind blowing in fairly hard from RF. Fell dead at the warning track.

    Chourio has made very hard contact on his past two AB's just right at the other team. His bat speed, swing strength, and wrist turn is incredible. Such an incredible swing.

    I still can't believe the ball that rifles from that frame. He's such a bulldog. Easily becoming one my favorite baseball players anywhere. I pray he stays healthy and gets his shot. I really do.

    I continue to LOVE the ongoing early work of LHP Clayton Andrews. Just pounding the zone with 95 mph heat with wicked off-speed stuff. The slider development is such a boon to his MLB potential. That pitch really works well with his already highly dangerous change-up. Batter 1: K. Batter 2: grounder to 3B. Batter 3: a full count punch out on the outer stripe on a beautiful frame from C Alex Jackson (probably a wee low but who cares?!). That's now 4 1/3 IP, 8 K, 1 BB. Oh, and that vaunted Sounds Pen I keep drooling over? 7 IP / 12 K / 2 BB / 5 H / 0 ER They are just incredible. They are the clear early season Sounds MVP.

    Hey it's an INF Patrick Dorrian sighting! Nice. Glad to see him back in the ranks. He was fantastic for the Sounds late in the 2022 season.

    Sounds double steal and INF Eddie Alvarez continues to cause havoc in the batting order. He nabs third and the throw bounces into LF giving the Sounds a huge insurance run in the 7th frame. 4-2 Sounds now. RHP Luis Contreras and Cam Robinson each with excellent evenings. Have I mentioned the Sounds bullpen? I think I might have. Contreras has really impressed this season in his action. This is a great bounce back outing for Cam. 0 ER, 8 K combined (4 apiece) in 5 IP. That's just solid stuff. I'll be very interested to see Contreras compiled Statcast numbers after tonight's outing. Previous to tonight, he had 2400 plus spin on both his four seamer and his curveball. We'll have 50 pitches to add to his previous 44.

    Hey now, INF Tyler Black's first hit in Double-A is a solo jack oppo blast over the wall in far LF. Beautiful swing. Beautiful result. Let's get it going, Tyler!

    I really can not believe the amount of absolute basic fundamental mistakes I am seeing across all levels in early 2023. The defense, the throws, the catching...there have just been so many silly moments of plays I would expect at a high school game (reminds self several young men are actually of high school age in the lowest levels 😂). A lot of ugly baseball moments that shouldn't be happening in games. Just a case and point example. A Chiefs player just ripped a double deep to left center off the wall. Je'Von Ward let up as he should lest he want to smash into the wall. Doston corrals it. Tosses it lightly to Eric Brown Jr. in the shallow OF grass. He turns and throws the ball to 2B where Jesus Chirinos is running in but the throw is high for the bigger man and it deflects off his glove and into the RF grass. We just gave the runner a free base. Just as Wood gave Salem the free out rounding 2B because he wasn't watching the 3B coach in a crucial situation. And, that runner just scored on a grounder to RF. He would have held had he been at 2B. Instead of a 3-2 deficit it's now 4-2. Those mistakes are everything in tight games. It's early and it's often ugly. Let's get back to the fundamentals and tighten it up, men.

    Welp, the Mudcats lose it 7-6. I can not believe they didn't send Areinamo and he didn't try to tag on the fly ball. Just a very very weird sequence. Matt Wood over running the bag proved huge. That's a very tough loss. Quinton Low had an AB opportunity to drive in runners with the bases juiced and 2 down. He missed a flare single over the 3B and down the line by about 2' foul and then popped out sky high to the catcher behind the plate. So it goes. That's three straight losses at Home and 4 straight overall. Luke Adams continues to hit the ground running in Low-A, however. He's an extremely exciting young prospect with a frame and build of a 25 years old man.

    He's pushing. Really overdoing it because he's frustrated. But, he's still giving 100% 100 mph effort. It will shift. These spells happen.

    We are seeing some classic Low-A base running here in the Mudcats half of the 10th. Areinamo is held at 3rd on a looping single to CF and Wood rounds 2B too far and is picked off 2B. Then on a sufficient deep fly (by my eyes) Areinamo tags, takes off, but then mysteriously returns to 3B. Goodness. If they lose this one...that's some lack of courage on the basepaths by my eyes and a mental error rounding 2B. And, on an 0-2 count OF Jace Avina took an inside heater up and into his hands. He was writhing on the ground for a minute there but is up and going to 1B - well Nicasia is on to pinch run tho Jace does look OK. What a wild inning.

    OF Sal Frelick's early season struggles continue as he is now below the Mendoza Line. An 0-for-3 night so far sees his BA dip to 0.190. The Sounds do lead 3-2 here in the middle innings.

    I go to dinner with the family. I come back and the Mudcats trail 7-6 in the 10th. Well, darn.

    Oh man he dug deep in that one and grabbed two consecutive punchouts - the final K on a full count from a 3-1 count and a very tight zone. Fantastic stuff. Hitting 95 on the gun. Tossing in a splitter and a change. Great finish Tanner!

    RHP Tanner Shears running into trouble here. Bases juiced with one down (on a web gem play from Areinamo at 2B). We have a single up the middle, a walk, a SB, and a walk.

    LHP Adam Seminaris worked around a two out double too the deepest part of the ballpark (although, it seemed like CF Carlos Rodriguez didn't take the best route to that ball that hung forever) by striking out his third batter with an off-speed (change?) that sunk to the dirt. A clean inaugural inning.

    Luke Adams will get the chance to knock in Areinamo here. He is up with Areinamo at 3B after the sharp grounder to 1B by Wood advanced the runner.
