  1. Wiemer just roped a 109 mph laser shot off the wall in left center in his first AB returned. Yowza. Scores Ruiz. Wiems and Severino on 2nd and 3rd. One down. Devanney at the dish. Take a look. This is a laser:
  2. How is it this late in the season and I just found out the Sounds had their own Medium page (apparently largely populated with posts by Sounds Media Relations Assistant, Collin Perry)?! Epic. Here's today's 'Sound Bytes'
  3. RHP Jason Alexander is on the one Sounds start every month call-up/send down plan. Hopefully, we get a vintage 2022 Triple-A Alexander performance - ie shutdown and dominancing.
  4. I don't see anything that is ailing him as overall preventatives from staying at catcher. That's clearly his best option and his position. He's still very very young. He simply needs experience and a commitment to improving his defensive game, first and foremost. There seems to be a lack of expediency or urgency in the framing/catching component - several just what appear to be 'lazy' (for lack of a better word) efforts. A subtle uptick there in reaction and movement and preparedness would do him worlds of good - how he gets there or if he gets there is obviously on him and the greater coaching staff. The arm, well, at this point in time that one actually concerns me - just as Darrien Miller's arm concerns/ed me behind the dish (tho, I would be remiss if I didn't point out Darrien has improved significantly there in just a year and he's shown he has quite a bit more versatility - DH, 1B, lead-off (!!)). The bat is already a plus attribute quite clearly. The power loss is strange but the stroke is so pure so I don't place too much emphasis there personally. He's a prospect, after all. He has work to do. And, honestly, more than anything what it does for me is remind me: Jeferson Quero level prospects are extremely rare. Joe Ayrault knew what he had in the first week. And, on the record, he stated (paraphrasing from postgame pod recall): "He's the most complete catching prospect the Brewers have had in quite some time." It's really Quero and then a large gap in talent. And then everyone else. Feliciano is definitely near the top of the that list - he simply needs to continue developing. My two cents.
  5. Woot Woot. I'm excite. Let's get to the playoffs HEALTHY please. ?
  6. He certainly has a bat that can play anywhere as I've said before. The absence of any power - for the most part but more say a week or a series or two of play - is maybe concerning (especially for a DH candidate) and something to track. I truly think it's another scenario whereby he simply needs more time to develop. He just isn't MLB ready by my eyes. I've seen several throws from behind that dish that literally left me with a jaw-opened look of disbelief - let alone the ongoing passed balls issue...which is definitely an issue. I certainly hope he puts it together, no doubt about it. But, I have concerns with his overall toolkit.
  7. If you scroll above: his offense is and was literally never in question. And, bashing, at least from my end, seems quite a bit overstated. His defense is just, well, not good enough. That's not bashing. It's based on watching him this entire season. He needs to work on this intensively over the next couple of off-seasons and it also bespeaks as to why he hasn't broken in at the MLB level.
  8. Another early farm day for me. Hopefully, the good guys can pull off their 90th win. Best of luck!
  9. WHAT a job by Justin Topa. Two K's. And a hard groundout to Singleton manning first. He collects it calmly (like he always does) and trots to first base. Still 4-4. Sounds to the plate for the bottom of the 9th.
  10. Navarreto is having a fantastic season. I wish I could watch him behind the dish more frequently. He's a joy to watch. And, he's just a great great personality.
  11. Also, this is the top of the ninth. The missed throwout is one thing. The passed ball another. But, then he almost threw the ball straight into left field trying to over-compensate for his error. It's a serious issue here that isn't talked about when people on 'Fanatic' simply put him in their Top 25. His defense alone is worth serious asterisks by his prospect status. This is why Jeferson Quero is already a better prospect by a country mile.
  12. I'm trying to be more diplomatic. But, yes. It isn't pretty. And, it's gotten worse as the games have increased in importance. If I'm manager Rick Sweet, he's 3rd on my catching depth chart for the Playoffs - behind Severino and Navarreto. *I should also be clear: I am a Navarreto stan. Unapologetically. Just as I am a Brent Diaz stan. These young men can catch the heck out of a baseball game. Complete afterthoughts for most. Not on my watch. They are studs.
  13. RHP Cam Robinson works around two consecutive two-out walks to escape unscathed on a harmless pop out to Lipka in RF. On to the bottom of the 7th and it is still 4-4.
  14. Singleton smashes a beautiful deep sac fly to RF. And, just like that, it's 4-4. Wunderbar. Classic fundamental opportune Sounds baseball.
  15. Turang misses a grand salami by about 3 feet (I think, the Sounds feed was awful). Knocks in 2. The ball appears to have struck about 3' from a ding dong. Another dub for the upstart utility Ace. Sounds trail 4-3 now.
  16. Getting interesting here in the bottom of the 6th. Bases juiced. No outs. Ruiz at the dish.
  17. And, another passed ball for Mario Feliciano. I'm telling y'all, his path to the MLB starts with improving his defense. It is really not good. The bat plays anywhere. The defense needs serious work. On an 0-2 count, Feliciano completely misses a tailing pitch from RHP Zach Brown and it goes to the back stop. It scores a run. His 14th passed ball of his season.
  18. Castaneda getting tagged here in the 3rd. 2-run jack. Deep fly out to dead center. Hit an run advances runner to 3rd. Ripped a single through the 1B and 2B gap. 3-0 Redbirds. 2 down. Bullpen active. Castaneda is already at 68 pitches.
  19. Lead-off walk. Two-run HR off an Castaneda off-speed pitch dead center. 2-0 Redbirds.
  20. 114th walk for Big Jon Singelton. Man, he is absolutely crushing the International League walk leaderboard. Absurd free pass production.
  21. Matt Lipka makes a fantastic sliding catch in right field to end the Redbirds' 2nd inning. The unexpected productivity and solid play from both Lipka and Dorrian have been under-the-radar very important stealthy pick-ups for the Sounds. Both players have really stepped up and played consistently solid baseball in every facet. On to the bottom half of the 2nd frame.
  22. RHP Victor Castaneda will get the nod yet again for the Sounds. Let the Sal Frelick and Joey Wiemer injury speculations commence:
