  1. Well, if the Desert Dogs lose this game they can thank their defense on routine plays. Several extremely rough moments on very routine plays in a championship game can most definitely come back to bite you. An airmailed throw from the Red's prospect (McClain) playing SS (more naturally a 2B by my look) on a routine grounder ties the game at 2-2. Onto the 6th. Naturally, the runner had advanced to third base off two wild pitches.
  2. Hey now, Zavi Warren! Capitalizes on a mistake pitch here off a red-hot Colton Gordon (Lefty in the Houston org) roping a gapper. Men on the corners now. 2 down. Still 1-1 in the 4th inning.
  3. On for his 3rd inning. Why not see the ump blow a strike 3 on a glorious slider and follow it with a ripping 4-seamer to strike out Easley for the 2nd time. He's just dealing folks. 6 K's thru 2 1/3. Unfortunately, his outing ends on an oppo HR blast. All told, just an incredible outing. 1-1 tie ball game. Hugely successful showing, overall. The Brewers evaluators will be salivating.
  4. 4 consecutive K's. 5 total. 2 IP so far - they might give him 3 innings tho after his elevated pitch count in the first I doubt it. Love some Middies. Nothing middling about his stuff folks. I've been saying this since I first saw his box scores in the ACL and then watched him dominance in Carolina. Incredible performance. This is a gem for our relief corps.
  5. WHAT a tone setting first inning from Middendorf. His guys were botching routine infield plays, mis-communicating on routine foul pop-ups. The bases get juiced. What does he do? Guns down two straight guys with punch outs. I love this young man's game. His K:BB ratio continues to impress. I don't know if a single batter touched his zany low 90's fastball - so much movement. He has a couple versions - it might dip from that low arm slot. It might rise with high spin. On to the 2nd. Still 0-0. Warren playing 3B.
  6. Middendorf getting absolutely butchered by some highly questionable defense from his teammates. Ugly classic Minor League stuff early. I won't get into details. Watching the game. LOL.
  7. Game on, Gents. We are live on MLB Network. Glendale batting first.
  8. LOVE this. They've got the 'bullpen game' horses in that Desert Dogs Pen. This is a huge opportunity for Ryan. Let's hope he can rise to the occasion.
  9. Glendale Scores Late AGAIN ensuring their place in Saturday's (11/12) Championship Game with a 6-3 victory over Peoria in the Play-In Game Box Score / Game Log What a late season run these dogs are on! The only Brewers field player making an appearance here was Zavier Warren - playing his vintage 3B role and batting in the 5-Hole. He went 0-for-3 with a BB and 2 K. He has cooled off a bit of late - but given his torrid pace since July, this is hardly surprising or disappointing. BUT, let's again tout the highly impressive work of (soon to be protected from Rule 5, surely?!?) RHP Abner Uribe: 2 IP, 2 BB, 0H, 5 K, 1 S Yet to concede an earned run in the AFL ? *** Championship Game write-up: HERE Saturday, 11/12 8PM EST - game will be televised live via MLB.tv and the MLB Network If you've been following the AFL, Glendale will face the Surprise Saguaros (19-10 - overall AFL Leaders). Surprise owns the AFL season series edge over Glendale 5-1. As they say, however, "...on any given Saturday". Or, something like that. I will say, given my ongoing overall indifference toward 'Top Prospects' Lists (ergo, MLB Pipeline et al), it is quite something an over-emphasis on these relatively meaningless lists would fail to mention Abner Uribe as a 'player to watch'. I digress. Tune in and enjoy!
  10. AND, let's dive deeper. There's a an AFL Post-Season. And, our Glendale Dogs are showing quite the bite so far! Glendale Dogs Howling into AFL Postseason **Above mentioned (quoted) Quero double - scoring Ward - included in article. Another beautiful oppo laser.
  11. Just wanted to quick piggy-back on Jim's incredibly helpful output during this entire AFL period: Glendale wins their season finale 5-2 and close out their AFL 'regular' season 15-13 overall. Box Score / Game Log LHP Russ Smith closed out his brief AFL season going 5 IP/ 6 H/ 3 BB/ 6 K/ 1 HR/ 2 ER (men on base continues to be a problem - tho, the result here and the 6 punchouts obviously favorable) OF Je'Von Ward grabs his 4th SB in a 1-for-2 showing at the dish INF Zavier Warren finishes his season playing 2B (!!) going 0-for-1 with 2 BB C Jeferson Quero ends his work going 1-for-2 (2B); defensively, he was 1-for-3 in the CS department *** Batting Statistics: Zavier Warren, Je'Von Ward, Jeferson Quero, Tyler Black Pitching Statistics: Russell Smith, Abner Uribe, Ryan Middendorf, Luis Contreras; and never actually pitched but surely enjoyed the weather, RHP Logan Henderson
  12. Bobby has such a sweet stroke man. Butter. He's got a lotta Frelick in those hip flips. Switch-hitter to boot. I'm excited by what I continue to see.
  13. Agreed - I was having the same 'feeling'. And, if I'm being honest, given the middling performance of trying to plug-and-play acquisitions (recency bias) at the trade deadline I don't quite know what to think. Granted, the counter to this would be the incredible success of finding gems during last year's Minor League FA signing period. We'll just to have to see what Captain Arnold and his staff have in store.
  14. One of the more interesting DSL prospects - having followed and written about them weekly, he caught my eyes on more than one occasion scanning game logs and box scores. Had his up and downs as a 17 yo, but he was definitely a player I was watching. An interesting fringe trade for both teams, honestly. What will be interesting is if Esteury Ruiz and he are playing together in the early going - they had quite the dust up in their last Triple-A series (Henry then a 'Jumbo Shrimp'). ** As an added aside here: I personally find the MiLB links more applicable and informative when looking at the ML prospects. For instance, in Batista's case, his numbers are skewed because of a poor showing in August - 44 AB's that negatively impacted his BA, OPS etc. Previous to that, he was hitting to the tune of 0.275-.280 with a plus 0.700 OPS. Definitely enough there to warrant taking a roll of the dice for the Marlins.
  15. Well, that's interesting. Several thoughts here...but, most prominent among them is a small sense of validation for my consistent comments re: Reminton Batista's output in the DSL. He was a very under-the-radar steady performer and I had him up there as one of the better performers across both the DSL 1 and DSL 2 rosters.
  16. I feel like the Rays should consider combining teams and locations at this point - the whole shebang. Tampa can benefit from the Brewers fan base. Brewers fans can benefit from a broader talent pool and a neo-tropical locale. Additionally, there is some serious Metal merch to be sold with the moniker 'Devil Brewers'. The team could brand their 'Red Ales' accordingly. Considering the highly successful, and routine at this point, mutual benefits when swapping players...there's a lot of side hustle to explore here. I digress. Love, the Knarrly man. I feel like their is a sub-genre of pitcher type in the Brewer's system at present and this group is led by Knarr, Castaneda, and Hasler. I want to know which of these young guns can squat more weight.

  18. You might say, initially, the connection didn't 'Click'. My work is done here. Carry on.
  19. Well, we received news of a wagon train of players most likely leaving the station electing Minor League FA - joining beloved, RHP Josh Lindbolm in the baseball bachelor circuit - in the past 24 hours: OF Corey Ray INF Yeison Coca RHP Carlos Luna OF Matt Lipka RHP Zack Brown RHP Miguel Sanchez RHP Hobie Harris INF Pablo Reyes INF Antonio Pinero I wish each and every one of these men success. Perhaps, we're lucky enough to see a few of them back in the fold. Always a bittersweet part of my own process.
  20. Just bumping this as our friendly reminder: The Brewers (and all MLB teams) have until November 15th to protect players from the Rule 5 draft (December 7th). That is less than 4 days from now. Let the countdown clock commence… As many of you know, I will be paying steadfast attention to one of Elon’s finest, INF Cam Devanney. For his latest thoughts check HERE (note: subscription required for interview). I think it’s quite obvious (at least, it should be) RHP Abner Uribe has locked himself into protection. BUT, I for one am going to return to consult Jim’s awesome work above.

  22. Love me some Bobby Moore, baby. Smooth switch-hitting stroke. I’m excited to watch his first full season! Wagoner dominancing certainly isn’t surprising given what we saw in Carolina. Nice to see Meeker and Jordan chipping in quality work as well. Let’s go!
  23. What was really great to watch in Knarrly's overall season was how he faced adversity and overcame it in Biloxi. It is not easy to pitch in the Southern League - at all. He came aboard initially and was phenomenal. He faced adversity after his final 3 starts in July and into early August. Something clicked, some adjustments were made (?), an approach changed (?), after facing the Braves on the road in early August. Personally, I'd love to hear about this particular stretch of games and what he did to close out the season so strongly. He was striking out batters incredibly well in July but the walks went up into August and his WHIP had jumped to 1.42. In the three games I watched in September he slashed that way back to a very respectable 1.19 WHIP. Anyhow, 2023 is another big year for a young Brewers hurler and this will absolutely be true for Mr. Knarr.

  25. You might remember my in-season request the Brewers seek out a trade of Jerar Encarnación from the Marlins to pair the corner outfield upstart, one Joey Wiemer. Encarnación is a 5-Tool prospect. He has size, speed, range, massive power, improving. contact, and a cannon of an arm. Of course, after he was promoted from Pensacola it was left a mere dream of my own making?. He's a stud.
