  1. I love that I didn't even consider the 2 week discrepancy in his last reported stat line ?. Hello, Monday! I would also imagine there might be some aspect of the drop-off in surroundings. All I ever hear about playing in Nashville is it's a class act unlike most (if not all) Minor League experiences. They truly are setting up to be a future Big League city. And, man, they are going to sell out with ease. Incredible baseball town. And, then, beyond that in the purely speculation realm I'd have to imagine the fact he has a youngster; a wife; and a family (and I believe their home base is in Scottsdale, AZ)...it was simply more appealing to reset and prepare for the future with his loved ones.
  2. And, after a 4-2 series victory on the road in Durham...you guessed it: post-series interviews via Jeff Hem's Blog On the docket for this round: manager Rick Sweet (as per usual - always a good interview), INF Patrick Dorrian (who is getting more PT of late and is swinging a fairly hot bat), RHP Cam Robinson (his first interview since his promotion to Triple-A), and C Brian Navarreto. Check these out!
  3. Not necessarily a transaction yet. BUT, ugh. Just, wooooof.? Posting it here as Rosenthal was playing with the Sounds when this injury occurred.
  4. It would appear David Dahl hasn't quite gotten things going in Rochester (Nationals Triple-A affiliate) since his release from the Sounds. It certainly doesn't appear he's playing poorly - it seems to me, by basic box score glancing, he's adjusting to a new setting much like he adjusted to Nashville early in the season. It's simply taking a bit longer. Dahl's 'breakout' with the Sounds came on the heels of a 3-for-4 outing 35 or so AB's in. Currently, for Rochester he's played in a mere 18 games: 67 AB/ 0.224 BA/ 0.647 OPS/ 10 R/ 10 RBI/ 5 2B/ 1 HR/ 8 BB/ 22 K/ 1 SB/ 0 CS
  5. Well, that's interesting. Happy for Wes. I'm sure his father is stoked. It'd be nice for him to learn under Thomas Dillard for a brief spell - see if they can trade taking pitch stories!
  6. It certainly hasn't been for lack of opportunities. After Lipka was thrown out trying to take home in the 7th on a sac fly, Wiemer pops out to the Bulls dugout and strands Frelick at third base and Ruiz at first here in the eighth frame. Still 3-1 Bulls. On to the bottom half.
  7. I can't tell you how good this baseball is for Triple-A. There are MLB players galore. The quality of play is fantastic. RHP Jake Cousins is on to try and finish the seventh here after Walden grabs the first two outs. I keep looking for the Jake Cousins of a couple seasons ago - I've yet to see it. Let's hope he can find that stuff. You can see he still has the movement in the kit, it seems to be a matter of sharpening his tools - location and execution. Hopefully it comes with more reps. Frelick made quite a nice run down out that was tailing toward the left field foul line to get things going here. He sprinted full speed, made the grab, and lept into the padding with full force. You won't sneak any hits past these speedsters.
  8. Doh. Lipka tested the wrong arm in right field with nobody down and a Dorrian fly ball skied to the foul line in middle right field. Man. Nary a run crosses. We move to the bottom half of the 7th frame.
  9. Lipka just smashed a lead-off triple high off the wall in left field. Nobody down. Top of the 7th. Let's bring him home, lads!
  10. I don't really spend much time ranking them at present, honestly. I just enjoy watching them play. They all do different things and apply pressure on the opponent in different ways. We'll simply need to wait and see how they adapt to MLB pitching, really. I mean you can not sleep on 70 stolen bases. That's patently absurd. We're in for a fun ride, though. That much is certain. This being said, I did mention to y'all in the Major League threads if anyone was going to get called up it would probably be Mitchell. And, well, here we are. Extremely happy for him - a well deserved opportunity to get his first PT up with the Big Club.
  11. Boy, Taj Bradley was extremely lucky to leave the 6th with no runs crossed. Baseball. What a game. Still 3-1 Bulls. Ruiz is stranded on 3rd base after he took 2nd and 3rd for his 70th stolen base of the season. Wiemer has a second strike called on a 3-1 pitch - as he was backing out of the box his bat somehow foul tipped into the catcher's mitt. Crazy play. Singleton misses a first pitch HR to right field (that was absolutely obliterated) as it hooks foul. Then lines out hard to CF.
  12. Ummmmmmm. Can we talk about Joey Wiemer’s series at formerly first place Durham?! My goodness. Another ding Dong?!? After a lead-off dub. This young man is something else.
  13. Serious heat check: Wiemer just ripped his 9th dub in Triple-A ball in his first AB. Man, he is on an XBH tear at present.
  14. Jefferson Quero threw out a runner to aid the aforementioned struggling Peña in the top of the 8th. How about a solo shot in the bottom half to pad that lead back to 3 runs?!
  15. Also, Jeison Peña is really struggling to adjust to his new surroundings. The youngster may need some lower leverage spots to get comfy.
  16. Yeah, some serious bush league stuffs coming for the ‘Nuts’. I mean, it was a slider that hit his back foot and he acted like Morales broke into his apartment. Super odd.
  17. An absolutely incredible stateside managerial debut for Estevez. With Fredericksburg down 6-0 to Down East in the 9th frame, it also appears they’ll move back to 3.5 games back of second half first place. Big win today!
  18. This just in: Carlos F. Rodriguez can pitch the baseball. My goodness. What an incredibly promising season for the young hurler.
  19. Can we please briefly discuss Cameron Wagoner’s Low-A debut?! 3 IP, 4H, 0 BB, 0 R, 7K ? Eagerly awaiting the Brewers PD Twitter clip of this display.
  20. Let’s enjoy Jim Paschke in the booth as well ?!? Awesome!
  21. Man, THAT is awesome. Just when you forgot Chourio had season left, he returns and smacks a Johnson.?
  22. So far: 2 IP, 22 pitches, 18 strikes. That’s good stuff, Mr. Wagoner! Chirinos just smacked a 2-run dub and it’s now 3-0 Muddies.
  23. I think that's RHP Ryan Middendorf's first blown anything (?) since he came aboard in the ACL early summer. He loses the 1-0 lead in 1 2/3 IP - he still manages his standard 4 K's but he gave up a deuce. That's a tough pill to swallow for LHP Brandon Knarr, who pitched his finest innings in quite some time - 6 IP, 3 H, 4 BB, 6 K, 0 ER.
