  1. Another big win by the Sounds as the bullpen completes 3 IP of scoreless work - Erceg, to Harris to Kelley to finish the game. 3-2 for the good guys. Tyler Herb gets the win going 5 IP with 2 ER - another fine outing for Mr. Versatility. Considering Columbus beat Buffalo, the Sounds will maintain their 3.5 game division lead. That Columbus road series to kick things off post-All Star break (July 4th - 10th), where the Sounds took it 5-1 is proving to be a huge series in the standings. Considering this current road trip in Durham, the Sounds continue to showcase they are the team to beat in the International League. That's now 9-2 over the last 11 games on the road versus two of the top teams. The Bulls, naturally, were in first place...before the Sounds came to town. Lehigh Valley has now snuck past them.
  2. Out n about in town with family…just checked the Mudcats box. Yikes.
  3. Top of the 1st anddddd Nashville is delayed.
  4. Circling back to some of the early season young men who were sent elsewhere as the Brewers scrambled to address roster issues... The Victor Caritini Trade: INF/OF Korry Howell: Howell was moved to San Diego's 60-Day IL July 23rd. He spent the entirety of his season manning all sorts of positions (you might imagine) for the Padres' Double-A affiliate in the San Antonio Missions. I would say, all in all, despite the injury, Howell and the Padres would see his 2022 as a successful debut with the new organization: 146 AB/ 0.253 BA/ 0.876 OPS/ 12 SB/ 1 CS/ 8 2B/ 4 3B/ 6 HR/ 37 R/ 20 RBI/ 25 BB/ 52 K C Brett Sullivan: Although, Sullivan spent an extremely short period of time with the Brewers (signing as another of the many ML FA's in 2021), he proved to be valued as a trade piece. Sullivan has turned in his most productive offensive season, one could easily argue, since 2016-2017 when he bounced between High-A and Double-A. His 2022 offensive numbers read: 338 AB/ 0.805 OPS/ 3 SB/ 0 CS/ 26 2B/ 4 3B/ 8 HR/ 56 R/ 63 RBI/ 27 BB/ 52 K (Defensively: 36 SB/ 16 CS/ 0.981 F%). Sullivan has also filled in semi-regularly as a 3B and a LF.
  5. RHP Alexander Cornielle debuts for the T-Rats as they try to get some consistent offense going. This is an exciting debut as Cornielle has snuck into several of our Top 20's as he's legitimately cut down on walks in the second half of his season while maintaining that stellar mix of strikeout stuff. I'll also be keeping an eye on RHP Tyler Herb's start in Durham. Herb has absolutely entertained the majority of this season. He's addressed what was plaguing him early in Nashville and is back to attacking hitters - recent results showcase the fine results. I've said it before, but I really hope the Brewers find a way to keep him in the fold - he can just play so many roles on a pitching staff and he's a really good interview.
  6. Man, this Mark Mathias news makes me SO happy. He’s such a likable athlete and was always a joy to watch in Nashville. Considering he was traded on the heels of the birth of his first child, this is just so great.
  7. A Saturday morning Cody Ponce drop. Nostalgia fills the air! Let’s hope we see a winning weekend.

  9. Yes. Yes he has. AND, he's stellar at the hot corner. He can absolutely nail down SS and 3B in a pinch. From earlier this season in Mississippi. He makes fielding look so easy - he has all year.

  11. I do. Whereas I can't fathom it with Valerio given his season overall (and, I'm still high on Valerio) and his defensive limitations, I can legit see a path for Devanney to stick. This obviously doesn't mean he is going to be protected. BUT, consider he was promoted from the ACL straight to Double-A right after the COVID-cancelled season. He was placed here again to start 2022. Whereas Ashton McGee started Game 1 - he was injured that same game - he was ultimately demoted after a significant regression at the dish. Cam came in from Day 1 of the season and grew into an MLB player before our eyes. I see quite a bit of upside potential in this player. The defense is stellar. The arm is an absolute cannon. And, now, well now we're seeing a player develop offensively. In a system incredibly thin on capable 3B prospects, it's an interesting proposition that Cam Devanney very well could be the current next in line ultility-knife infielder behind Brice Turang. The bat evolution in 2022 is the cherry on top. Everything you want to see. We simply don't have many players (if any) that can make this play:
  12. I'm not saying anything other than: (1) He is only just discovering the power stroke (2) I could get real used to a 1 HR every 5 games played pace The fun part is: we get to watch what happens.
  13. THIS is exactly why I see Cam Devanney as a very serious candidate to be protected in Rule 5. The improved bat is obviously one thing. The body-type is another. From Game 1, and I am dead serious, he has flashed the stalwart D and the cannon. He can fill in any spot on the left-side of the diamond. 18th HR blast just plated here in the 6th...he is trending UP. Check out this defense: And, how about a lil power stroke from 'down under'.
  14. AND, it's a home run palooza in Biloxi's bottom of the sixth. Not 1. Not 2. BUT, 3 jacks. Corey Ray, Cam Devanney (his 18th), and Thomas Dillard all smack solo jacks. It's now 11-5 Shuckers. Let's GO! Corey and Cam led off with back-to-backs.
  15. Oh, hey, I almost forgot! Shucks! Brice Turang hit another HR tonight. I'm going to say it yet again: He is just discovering his power stroke. He is 22 years old. I could get real used to 1 HR every 5 game output from Turang. ?
  16. Take a little bit of the bite off this current state of Brewers baseball. The Spirit Manimal is waking up. 3 HR in Durham in 4 games...including this mammoth shot late. Enjoy:
  17. Welcome to Double-A Mr. Baker - 2/3 IP 2 K's. He gets them out of that jam. Zavi Warren knocks home Dillard and Whitely after their double steal. 8-4 Shuckers. Warren now has 5 RBI's on the evening.
  18. Have a night Luis Castillo: 4-for-4 with 2 2B, 2 R, and 1 RBI. Fantastic stuff. I saw the early double deep off the right field wall. It would appear he tacked on another.
  19. The Spirit Manimal is Waking Up. Oh yes. Rise up, Joey! Rise up!

  20. Oh. My. Word. They keep throwing these off-speed meatballs. I think it’s fair to say Joey is seeing these.
  21. Hey Columbus finally lost during a Sounds victory. They gain atop the leaderboard and are now 3.5 ahead of the pesky Clippers!
  22. Welp, Valerio botched a sliding stop in the RF grass to let the first man aboard. Then with runners at the corner Zavier Warren botched a grounder right at him. Gasser gets run. OK. I'm turning it all off. Baseball break in order. ? Let's hope the young men can pull some games out of the hat!
  23. Sitting at 73 pitches, LHP Robert Gasser will come back to the hill to pitch the 6th. Sweeeeeeet. Let's go, young man!
  24. BTW, this is Eric Brown Jr's second consecutive game on the shelf. Robert Moore is playing SS. I wonder if this is just a 'Clear your head and take some time." kind of deal - he'd been scuffling at the plate some this past week. We'll have to monitor this into the weekend.
  25. OH BABY! Big Jon 'Bombs' Singleton just sent a 3-run monster laser shot on a 2-2 count sending Ruiz and Turang around those basepaths. He had literally just missed a rocket the swing prior on an inside breaking ball. Not the next pitch. No Sir! It's now 8-3 Sounds. Let's GO! Oh he bat dropped after that rocket into the deep stands in right field. That was above and beyond the entire set of bleachers. Whewwwwww. Let's get that OPS back above 0.800, Jon! Sweetness.
