  1. I’m working on a new baseball non-fiction opus. Working title: ”The Rise of Middendorf”
  2. Currently doing push-ups and running laps preparing for the healthy seven-game line-up tonight. It’s fitting the ACL squads end it with a head-to-head. After Jim helped me knock off that 11-game bonanza last week, four games is going to feel surreal.?
  3. I know for Enagbare it's extremely limited snaps. I want to say 59? Check that: 'Fewer than 50'.
  4. Uglem was one of (if not 'the') biggest proponents of the Enagbare selection when it was made...
  5. Osbriel Mogollon is hitting his first 'slump' of his summer (5.03 ERA over 19 2/3 IP and 4 GS). It will be interesting to see how he responds his next time on the mound - the 5 BB today certainly seem like an anomaly more than a trend. When Yeison Perez is in the line-up batting clean up, the Brewers Dos are certainly a different team. I'm sure they're all happy he's back to playing every day after an unknown injury. (Looks at schedule...guess we'll have to wait til 2023)
  6. Thanks for making my Monday morning coffee filled with Brewers Minor League baseball, Daniel! ? I must say, what RHP Taylor Floyd has done since that absurdly awkward home plate ump display by one Glen Meyerhofer on July 26th versus Cedar Rapids is absolutely and undeniably impressive. Lesser men might have completely lost their season after that debacle. Floyd has turned it around, shut it down, and pitched with a fire and impact we hadn’t seen since 2021. I see a pitcher throwing harder, with more precise movement, and, frankly, revitalizing his career. I am so proud of this young man and his fortitude.

  8. Looking forward to another blog post!
  9. Don't blink but the Mudcats have suddenly pulled within 2 games of previously red hot Fredericksburg. A very exciting surge for the young men in Zebulon (27-21 now on the 2nd Half). They'll head to Carolina South's 3rd place Kannapolis Cannonballers (23-24 2nd half record) for a 6-game road trip this week. Fredericksburg currently leads Lynchburg 2-0 tonight - if they should win, the young Cats will remain 2.5 games back. The Nats will then head home to play the third place Down East Wood Ducks (26-22) this week. We're in the second half of the, well, second half...and, it would certainly appear our pennant chasers will be the Nashville Sounds and our young men in Carolina. It's hard to fathom Wisconsin making a serious run considering their injuries and sudden lack of depth in the bullpen. Biloxi appears destined for classic 2022 Biloxi things: roller coasters and waffles. Up and down, back-and-forth. Head on a swivel.
  10. Whereas RHP Taylor Floyd has salvaged his season with several solid outings of late, RHP Joey Matulovich continues to head South. That's several ineffective outings out of the bullpen for the young hurler. 15.26 ERA in August. 7 2/3 IP, 5 G, 13 ER, .395 BA, 3.13 WHIP? Woooooooof.
  11. I sincerely hope we can bring back Tyler Herb to Nashville next season. After scuffling a bit to start for Nashville, he's turned in several solid outings in various roles. He's a good veteran. He's a very likable personality in every way. I hope it works out.
  12. Yeahhhhhh Baby! Those Mudcats looking to pull off the 6-0 sweep! I’m excite!!!
  13. Well, if I'm not mistaken, then, LHP Kodi Madeiros was 18 when he started his first season in Wisconsin. Off the top of my gourd, he turned 19 in early June? This obviously doesn't qualify for the 'He's still in the system' requirement but I'm rummaging through roster recall. LOL. Unless, of course, by system you mean the Minor League system? Anyhow, he's not obscure either and I now officially give up and await any others' responses and the answer.
  14. Ohhhhhh. Ok. I get you now. I was like: "Wait, what?" LOL.
  15. Well, to be fair your trivia question specifies a pitcher. I had a very hard time considering this as I'm fairly certain - since 2006 at least - the youngest have been Jarvis and a Wily Peralta? Anywho, I might have guessed Feliciano...but, well, he's a position player. ? Regardless, thanks for bringing up my historical stat brain on a Sunday. It was fun.
  16. Sheeesh, 2006 takes us back to the Mike Guerrero led Low-A West Virginia Power of the South Atlantic League. Yowzers. At first glance I said to myself: “Herrera is 19.” LOL. And he’s 19 for his first Low-A start. But, I see the tricky wording here and he literally turned 19 4 days ago. Ok ok ok. Anyhow, it’s Sunday and I’m lazy but I’ll play along. I am going to guess - even though I’m fairly certain it’s wrong as I think he has a February birthday and he played age 18 in the now ACL (?) and then played his age 19 season in Wisconsin (then Low-A) - RHP Justin Jarvis.
  17. RHP Ryan Middendorf continues to strike out batters at every level. 5 K's through 2 IP so far tonight. This young man slings that biscuit.
  18. Beautifully said. He had struggled of late at Triple-A. But, this was a young man who gave his all for the Brewers. He will be missed.
  19. The early highs of the High-A Puello experience have now hit consistent lows. I hope he can salvage his season. He's a finesse and an unorthodox delivery pitcher. This is going to take some time. And, ultimately, he may become a bullpen arm.
  20. I personally just love Diaz's game. He's smooth. Reliable. He's starting to hit - which is a bonus. All the pitchers are comfortable with him. I love having him in the catching pool. Areinamo is a very good defensive player to boot. He made a play at 3B this past week that left my jaw dropped. He has a very good arm. He can play all over the infield (I'd personally like to see if he can play SS too in a break glass type of instance). Just a very exciting young player. I didn't put Jarvis and Knarr on my lists because they are known 'commodities' for me. I like both young men, but, they caught my eyes earlier in the season. I will say - Knarr has scuffled a bit in his second half.
  21. Right?!? The first time I watched that, I had a [puts beverage down. pauses]: "I'm going to have to go back and review that at the commercial break."
