  1. 3rd K for Gasser on a breaker in the dirt. 7 batters in and he's made one mistake. Still 0-0.
  2. Mudcats win 9-3 behind a heck of a start from Alexander Cornielle and the ongoing output of the ACL Crew. Hedbert Perez also goes 2-for-5 in the lead-off slot. All in all, the Mudcats knock 15 hits. Heck of a game!
  3. 2nd K for Gasser on a nasty slider down the heart of the plate after a sweet change-up lower outside. I am extremely impressed here early. He has a plan of attack.
  4. Jeeeeeez, these recent ACL call-ups in Castillo, Fernandez, Areinamo, and, Avina are dealing. Fernandez just led off the 8th with a triple for crying out loud. They're crushing it.
  5. Indeed it is. And, it moves. Like it really moves horizontally and then dips a good foot. This young man has that 'It' you look for in a pitcher. He's doing all sorts of stuff with speed, movement, and placement. That interview where he spits all the analytics talk and spin and movement is legit. I'm seeing it live. Let's also remember: He just turned 23 in May. So, this is a young 23. If that means anything (it doesn't). LOL.
  6. Who other than INF Cam Devanney to suddenly make LHP Dylan Dodd look pedestrian? He smashes a deep left center double off the low wall and the Shuckers have a man in scoring position here in the second inning.
  7. Oh boy. It's early. It's only two batters in. I don't care. We're going to love Robert Gasser. 94-95mph on the heater. Slider drops to 75-76. He's got a change and a curve ball. Man, this kid has a lot of tools. We might have a really really good one. AND, he just picked off a runner with a super savvy move. You love to see it.
  8. Well LHP Robert Gasser will have a tough act to follow. Braves lefty (and coveted recently promoted prospect) Dylan Dodd misses an immaculate inning by a single ball striking out the side on 10 pitches. Welcome to Double-A Robert! ?
  9. Apologies to Adrian Houser and the rest of the Sounds but it's time to check in on Biloxi and LHP Robert Gasser's debut. Sounds lead 1-0. Dorrian just walked. There are two down and Dorrian on first and Wiemer at third base (after a weak ground out from Alex Jackson).
  10. Wiemer just absolutely roped an rbi double to the wall in right. A fantastic swing and oppo smash. Why was it an rbi double? Well, because the insanely fast Garrett Mitchell was on first base after an extremely disciplined 3-2 walk. Glorious nectar!
  11. 25 pitches in his first inning but all in all it was successful after a couple full count batters. Houser gets a weak pop up to Turang at shortstop, a nice K on an extremely small batter, and the shallow pop up to a charging Joey Wiemer who forcefully called off a back-pedaling Pablo Reyes. It's on the second inning and it's 0-0.
  12. RHP Adrian Houser is indeed starting for Nashville tonight. His first pitching of any kind since June 30th. His first pitch was straight into the dirt. After working ahead 1-2 he fell to a 3-2 count and ultimately gave up a seeing-eye single between Reyes and Turang into the right center field grass.
  13. INF Jadher Areinamo is quickly turning into one of my favorite prospects. He just took an 0-2 count and smacked a single to center field. He's 2-for-3 on his afternoon so far. This is just a really really solid player with a bright future. One of my pleasant surprises of 2022. He has taken his brief cup of coffee in Wisconsin and converting that into wisdom and output. Just wonderful stuff.
  14. RHP Alec Bettinger has been released INF Alberis Ferrer has been placed on the 7-Day IL INF Ethan Murray and LHP Russell Smith were also placed on the 7-Day IL (apologies for the earlier "Arbert" or whatever that was usage - I was errantly auto-corrected. ?)
  15. @damuelle (my goodness that leg-kick is something. Talk about balance): AND, our first glimpse at DSL stalwart RHP Jeral Vizcaino (we've both noted his excellence of late):
  16. RHP Alexander Cornielle is doing his darndest to validate entering a lot of our Top 30's. He's dealing today. Through 6 IP, 3 H, 0 BB, 8 K (90 pitches - maybe he trots out to start the 7th tho I imagine his night is finished). You just have to love what we're seeing from this young man. He's gotten better as the season has progressed and he is staking his claim as the next Mudcat Ace. Let's go, young man!
  17. AND just like that: Jace Avina just smacked his first home run of his Low-A career. YES SIR! A two-run jack scoring OF Luis Castillo. Oh sweet sweet Jace! I should add: this was a 2-out jack to extend the lead to 5-0. Sorry, I got a little excited and was too busy hooting and hollering.
  18. I've been pleasantly surprised by Chirinos' work this past week and I really hope he keeps it up. He has such a nice build for a 1B transition - the results have been erratic. It feels like Vargas' season got away from him early and I hope he can build some momentum to close this year. I'm all for giving Perez more opportunities - he's given us glimpses all year. As always, I like your thoughts!
  19. Thanks for the share - I certainly appreciate positive feedback! Jim, Daniel, and I work diligently to provide decent coverage of the prospects for Brewers fans all over. To that end, my over-arching point is (and @damuelletouched on this in today's 'Game Thread'): Every one of our young prospects are legitimate prospects. Any one of them can get hot at any time - Zavier Warren our most recent example with his scorching hot week. Joey Wiemer was unbelievably good for a season plus and then, well, he ran into an unforgiving frustrating period at the plate and I want again re-iterate I have zero idea if it is a lingering hand issue there. It could very well just be a really bad slump. I understand the Brewers personnel department and organization at large has/have so much more insight into their players than I ever will. Guys get promoted all the time I find 'surprising' - Reidy Mercado the most recent example into the outfield at Wisconsin (listed as a 'Catcher' by MIlB). Terence Doston was promoted well beyond where we thought he'd go but he continues to do good things when given opportunities. I trust the right guys will make it to the right destinations - at each Level they reach and each organization they travel to; whether it be a Brewers-only experience or, as in the case of Peters and Kelly most recently, with other ball clubs. I could flip a coin on pretty much every prospect, in my humble opinion, beyond the top 10-12 players. And, even in those top 10-12, I could probably toss a coin. I just don't place much value on my list. What I place value in is watching these guys play and sharing my excitement with each and every one of the fans. TJ Shook had a fantastic start this past week, Nash Walters went un-scored upon out of the Shuckers bullpen for over a month, Victor Castañeda just had a great bounce-back performance, the aforementioned Zavier Warren hot streak is and has been unreal but he's always had the approach to pull something like this off, Edwin Jimenez's 10K performance felt like a sort of validation of what I've been saying for the last several months (that he has some savvy and some interesting tools to work with), James Meeker's current work holding down the T-Rats closer role is phenomenal, Miguel Guerrero taking his re-assignment with class and excellence, Eduarqui Fernandez cutting back on his strikeouts in the past few games and on and on and on. Every week something incredible happens and every evening something surprises me. I understand the Prospect Tracker is something we do and will do. And, I will participate. But, I really don't place much value in it. I place value in the players given their all and trying to make it. Thank you for listening to my Prospect Ted Talk. ?
  20. Given what I've seen this season to date, I can verify a thought that has never crossed my mind: "Hey, let's drop Areinamo down to the 7th spot." LOL. Victor Estevez must have grand designs for today's line-up card. I'd personally like to see 'Mr On-Base' Zach Raabe get some play in the 1-2 slots given his unique propensity to take walks.
  21. Nicasia has caught my eye several times of late. I'm loving what I'm seeing and, hey, grand salamis always taste good!
  22. Well, I'm not 'out of my Top 30' bearish. LOL. Stuff like that always happens to me. I would most likely have him somewhere in my 20-30 range. I have a list of guys that could easily push guys out - Lutz, Dillard, Shook, Knarr, Russ Smith, Perez, Castañeda, Severino etc. Hence, my overarching point of I enjoy the depth of our system at present. RHP Edwin Jimenez - I continue to like what I see from him especially coming off a career-high 10 K performance. Just as I don't place much stock in Top 20-30 lists overall, I certainly don't put much stock in my own...but, I do want to participate here and join in with y'all.
  23. He dropped quite a bit this round for me. And, the injury is my primary concern. This is now recurring - it appears to be the same ongoing thumb/hand thing that arose when he was shut down in the Arizona Fall League last year. I am guesstimating here (I don't have any real knowledge of the situation), but I would 'imagine' this is what sent him down for a time with the Shuckers and what recurred in an AB versus Montgomery. With that, we've seen a severe slump and a precipitous drop-off in power. Everything else is there: the athleticism, the defense, the arm. All wonderful. But, the ongoing hand thing is quite worrisome. It's a bummer. I hope he regains his form but I certainly don't see it as a certainty...even if I'm simply going off of speculation here.
  24. As always, I'll go back to this list in this week and realize I missed a few players - apologies up front. All I can really say as the DSL and the ACL have progressed, the draft and the Deadline have passed, is I suddenly feel quite a bit better about the System. Even with the loss of Peters and Kelly, there's a lot of intriguing developments happening across many a Level. And, surely, this list is fraught with forgetfulness and mistakes. BUT, I'll throw my cap in the proverbial dugout: (1) Jackson Chourio (2) Sal Frelick (3) Garrett Mitchell (4) Brice Turang (5) Esteury Ruiz (6) Tyler Black (7) Hendry Mendez (8) Robert Gasser (9) Joey Wiemer (10) Eric Brown Jr. (11) Jacob Misiorowski (12) Ethan Small (13) Jeferson Quero (14) Jadher Areinamo (15) Cam Devanney (16) Kevin Briceno (17) Yeison Perez (18) Carlos F. Rodriguez (19) Felix Valerio (20) Stiven Cruz (21) Mario Feliciano (22) Jace Avina (23) Jakson Reetz (24) Justin Jarvis (25) Zavier Warren (26) Cam Robinson (27) Ryan Middendorf (28) Robert Moore (29) Eduardo Garcia (30) Alexander Cornielle
  25. The Scoreboards shows LHP Ethan Small starting for the Sounds tonight, but, RHP Adrian Houser should be somewhere in the Mix:
