  1. The DSL Brewers 2 game versus the DSL Tigers 2 was suspended in the bottom of the 3rd inning. 18-year- old righty, Daniel Corniel, was dealing through 3 IP with a sole hit surrendered and four strikeouts in the tally. However, the real news of this game, perhaps: Yeison Perez, playing right field today, hit his 15th double of the season in his sole AB. That’s now a 0.351 BA with a 1.127 OPS after 114 registered AB’s.
  2. 19-year-old RHP Kevin Briceno is quietly making a case for a serious promotional candidate - in 2022 still (less likely) or to begin 2023. He gets the win tonight in a bullpen role. 4 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K, 0 R. It caught my eye that he was one of only two Brewers pitchers to qualify in Baseball Larceny’s recent 25 and under list: RHP Stiven Cruz also makes this list BUT Briceno is in the top 10 (!!) six slots behind Marlins super prospect Eury Pérez. This really startled me.
  3. That’s Middendorf’s 1st run since his Low-A promotion some time ago. He covers 4 innings here. 3 H, a solo HR, 6 K’s. I’m a believer. And, it seems they might be stretching him out for bigger things?
  4. Do you think Carlos Rodriguez was ready to show out in High-A? 3 IP, 0 R, 7 K.
  5. We may just need to call the fire department in Quad Cities: Zavier Warren is on ?. He just ripped another double. Yowza.
  6. I almost made the same joke. Thank you for appeasing my self-restraint with big time action!?
  7. Man, the flurries continue across the organization. This has been an intense Deadline!
  8. Lost in yesterday's shuffle, it appears, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have released LHP Arman Sabouri. We wish him the absolute best in his next endeavors - be they baseball-related or life in general. Best of luck, young man!
  9. From the first week, he's been incredible. This is an extremely exciting season!
  10. Indeed it is. He was promoted last week - he and reliever RHP Ryan Middendorf. Around that same time, ACL Brewers arms, RHP Alexander Vallecillo and LHP Leoni De La Cruz were promoted to Low-A Carolina filling their roster spots. All four of these young men have been fantastic in 2022. And, you'll see Vallecillo will be on the Hill tonight for the Mudcats. I'm excited to see how he fares in his promotional debut - he was pretty dang fantastic in the ACL.
  11. The man, the first week of August myth, the legend. INF Zavier Warren:
  12. Lastly, we've discussed the incredible season INF Cam Devanney has had at the dish (and, it's been something). Some here who haven't had the opportunity to see the games have asked about his defense. It's quite good. Truly. Since game 1 he's shown a steady glove and a cannon for an arm. Check out this spinning stop just past the third base bag and his momentum bringing him into foul territory. He makes these plays look routine with that rifle on his shoulder: (Also on the Biloxi twitter page is a OF Corey Ray solo home run shot and an OF Garrett Whiltely 2-rbi triple. Both young men have taken their assignment with absolute class. Let's hope they can get red hot and continue to further their careers.)
  13. Here are some RHP Edwin Jimenez highlights from his career-high 10K outing. I've said it a couple times this season, but he really does have some ol' RHP Mike Fiers stuff to his aresenal. A lot of off-speed deception and sink:
  14. Oh hey! It's a Yeison Perez triple - his 3rd of the year. Perez is now doubling, tripling, homering or walking in 28.7% of his 122 AB's. 0.345 BA with a 1.114 OPS. Whewwwwww baby. Coming into this game he was strutting a 0.343 ISO.
  15. A special tip of the glass is in order for @damuellewho continues to give us great recaps even amidst a prolonged family vacation (stateside at present). It's commitment like this that will get him to the 'Big Club' some day. Hopefully, he'll remember us when he's a big timer. ?
  16. Oh, hey! It's a Yeison Perez double - his 13th on the year. Perez is now doubling, homering, or walking in 26.4% of his 121 AB's.
  17. Eric Brown Jr. with a 1-for-3 night - 1 2B, 3 R, 2 BB, 1 SB. Noiiiiice!
  18. T-Rats Game recap ”Warren continued his torrid pace in the series. The Wisconsin third baseman was 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, and three runs scored on Thursday night. In the first three games of the series, Warren is 9-for-14 with three doubles, two triples, three homers, eight runs, and ten RBI.” ?
  19. Good stuff in Carolina as RHP Edwin Jimenez strikes out 10 in 5 IP and LHP Leoni De La Cruz pitches 2 scoreless innings in his Low-A debut. The Mudcats win 7-4.
  20. Zavier Warren hits another double helping the T-Rats plate 3 in the top of the fifth. Creeping back and it’s 8-5 Quad Cities now.
  21. Man, Garrett Mitchell just continues to impress. After a rope extremely well-hit ball smacks off the wall in deep right knocking in two for Norfolk, he collects it on the hop and throws a dart to second base as Brice Turang grabs the runner and gets the Sounds out of the inning. He is just playing such good good baseball right now. A true pleasure to watch.
  22. Lotta definitive statements in this Game Thread. Lotta season left. I encourage everyone who is struggling with the Deadline decisions to take a step back, take a deep breath, and get ready for the games ahead. Just as an ugly unfortunate sweep can happen on the road in Pittsburgh, so can a 10-12 game win streak at any point in time. It’s going to take some time. And, who knows, maybe the Brewers really aren’t good enough in 2022. This could definitely also be true. I’m going to be rooting for them to get red hot at the perfect time. It can certainly happen.
  23. And, well, Sal Frelick just smashed a double deep off the wall in right field. That's SIX HITS in 3 games in Norfolk for Frelick. My goodness!
