  1. Metzinger's numbers impressed in the ACL. Hopefully, we see good things from him in Wisconsin! This is a tough series so they'll need his bat to stay hot.
  2. A little Mid-Day LHP Robert Gasser love. Check the twice-mentioned (previously by moi) slider action in this clip. He can really drop that puppy wherever he wants and however he wants in his Mix. It's a beautiful pitch:
  3. Yeison Perez did not knock an XBH today. He did end up 1-for-4 with an rbi. Not a double. Not a triple. Not a home run. I hope he's OK.
  4. Indeed. It's infinitely more easeful and convenient.
  5. With it just officially announced Robert Moore to Carolina and Ben Metzinger to Wisconsin, one might wonder: is Zach Raabe on the move to Wisconsin? Is Zavier Warren taking that recent hot streak to Biloxi? Is the Ethan Murray injury serious?
  6. To add on top of this post, a few other moves were just officially posted: INF Robert Moore has been assigned to the Carolina Mudcats INF Ben Metzinger has been assigned to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers INF Jheremy Vargas has been assigned to the AZL Brewers Blue (from the Mudcats)
  7. And, another game played, and another Yeison Perez double - his 15th of his season. The Brewers 2 fall 4-2 in a closely contested match-up with the DSL Mets 1. While the Brewers 2 successfully swiped four bases, C Brayan Oropeza strutted his improved results throwing out all three Mets' SB attempts. Also of note here: whereas Jhonny Severino continues to induce 'concern' or valid questions abound about his error-prone ways between his time at short stop and third base, DSL Brewers 1 17-year-old infield prospect Juan Baez has quietly caught my eye. Baez has had a productive season at the plate and he has half the errors of Severino. Plenty of time for both players to continue to grow, but it's worth noting Baez is making a name for himself in 2022. Baez finished his day 2-for-3, 1 RBI, 1 2B (his 8th), 1 K, and 1 SB (his 12th). On the season, he is now hitting 0.286 with a 0.729 OPS in 154 AB's (typically batting second in the line-up).
  8. Another game completed for the DSL Brewers 1, and yet another LHP Osbriel Mogollon stellar outing. This young left continues to shine: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 1 R, 5 K Brewers 1 win 5-1. 18-year-old lefty batting catcher, Edgardo Ordonez, continues to catch my eye: 2-for-3 today with his 3rd double and 2 runs scored batting clean-up. He had gone 0-for-7 to start August, but today's numbers are more in line with his season to date: 78 AB's, 0.282 BA, 0.803 OPS. Ordonez also threw out a runner attempting to steal 2nd base where he is currently throwing out 35% of base runners. Luis Lara and Johnny Severino have both cooled off recently - they went a combined 0-for-6 today; 0 K; 0 BB. And, alas, Severino commits a fielding error at short stop. He now has 18 errors combined between short stop and third base in 44 games played and overt 272 1/3 innings in the field.
  9. Here’s the commentary: 100. Jace Avina, OF, Brewers Avina was a 14th round pick out of high school in ’21 and has looked good in rookie ball thus far running a .294/.436/.630 line until his promotion to Low-A. He’s aggressive and doesn’t have loud power but he often hits the ball on the barrel while also putting it in the air so when he does make contact it’s almost always quality. He whiffs a ton, but the raw tools are good and he has 55-grade power with the upside for average to above skills offensively.
  10. Thank you, yes indeed. Lol. I didn’t read the full thread and hadn’t checked the list myself as of yet - it came up as an alert. In other words, I was lazy. Lol. Thanks for clarifying and correcting! Yes, Mason’s lists are always fun and well-inputted as well.
  11. Jackson Chourio arrives at number 2 in Baseball America’s updated ‘Top 100’ list. Chourio and Eric Brown Jr. make it in there as well while Joey Wiemer predictably has precipitously fallen out. But, really, this is simply another Jace Avina post. He is now in a separate top 100 at #100. Holding down the back end and getting into his first Top 100z We see you, Jace. Major congratulations are in order. Here is Jace:
  12. Jace Avina checks in at 100. Well, how about that?!
  13. THIS is a choice choice ‘Mic’d Up’. I already liked Arbert Cipion. The like now runs deep.
  14. Choice cuts from Brewers PD: First, the Shookster’s recent dominant outing: Next, we have switch-hitting Nicasia’s vastly improved production of late (of which my stalwart cohort @damuelle so keenly alluded to this past week): And, lastly we see DSL Brewer RHP Daurys Mora’s recent run of excellence:
  15. Other than a bullpen blown game by Wisconsin we are close to another 3-1 affiliate evening. Sounds lead 8-4 late. Now, if the Brewers could get their act together…
  16. RHP Victor Castañeda is starting to stack outings again as he furthers his time away from his IL stint. This is very encouraging to see him add another quality start - his second in a row. 1B Thomas Dillard continues his surge. OF Tristen Lutz continues his tear of the past month plus. An entire starting outfield gets promoted, and the Shuckers roster says: "We'll go about our buisness." Such a tremendous series for manager Mike Guerrero and his young men. To potentially go 5-1 at Mississippi is such a huge boost of confidence and brings them within meaningful distance within the standings.
  17. I think this is accurate. I watched his entire outing last night. There is so much to like with this young man's arsenal. He just turned 23 in May. He's already pitching like a Vet - he literally made one mistake pitch last night. One. Everything else was moving, changing speeds, dropping horizontally and vertically. Fastball sitting at 94 mph touching 96. Slider dropping down to 76 mph (!!). One pitch in the center of the zone. Everything else teasing the zone or falling out of the zone. He had a plan of attack in every AB. He has a four-pitch mix right now and can probably add a fifth into the Mix (?). He's already ahead of Ethan Small for me - and, honestly, it's just not even that close.
  18. The ongoing struggles of RHP Joey Matulovich continue in Wisconsin. They've really needed him to step in another direction since the many call-ups and, unfortunately, he's been struggling quite often of late. Let's hope he turns it around.
  19. The Jace crush is becoming quite real. There's just so much there to like beyond baseball as well - by every measure from an outside perspective he seems to just literally get what's important in life. Hard not to be falling hard for this young man. This early production in a step up in competition is quite literally bonkers. Through 2 Low-A games, Avina has a very sustainable 2.111 OPS. ?
  20. And, now, our Avina fix: Super impressive second dinger:
  21. You can’t possibly be talking about the same Quad Cities that’s 27 games under 0.500? LOL This being said, QC has a winning record against South Bend (9-7), they have a winning record versus Fort Wayne (4-2), they are 5-7 versus Peoria. Wisconsin has far and away given the River Bandits their most losses (19 of 64) and is responsible for 15 of their 27 games under. That’s significant. Your point stands, in flavor. I’m just clarifying the deets.
  22. RHP James Meeker shuts it down with a third out strikeout to get yet another Save and increase the wide gap of dominance over Quad Cities in 2022. 3-2 T-Rats victory!
  23. 5 K's through 4 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB for LHP Robert Gasser. This is a young pitcher who is literally just scratching the surface. And, he already has a plethora of piñatas to work with. Very very impressive young hurler. He has made one mistake today. One. Every other pitch had intent and purpose. He doesn't give anything. It's all meticulously around and near the zone. Rarely exposed. This is a student of the game.
  24. Who other than INF Cam Devanney to knock in run number one for Biloxi? I mean, come on Cam! He hits a sacrifice fly to middle right field sending OF Garrett Whitely home who had taken third with a super savvy move to third base off a well hit chopper single from OF Tristen Lutz. How did he get there? Savvy and wheels. Whitley is extremely fast. 1-0 Shuckers into the bottom half of the 4th inning.
  25. Through 3 IP, 4 K, 1 H, 1 BB for Gasser. What a debut. 0-0 into the 4th inning.
