Milwaukee and Chicago open their series at American Family Field today at 1:08 p.m. CDT, with right-hander Freddy Peralta scheduled for the Brewers and left-hander Matthew Boyd for the Cubs. Peralta threw 176 2/3 innings across 33 starts with a 2.70 ERA, a 3.65 FIP, a 28.2 percent strikeout rate, and a 9.1 percent walk rate. He allowed 1.07 home runs per nine innings. Boyd logged 179 2/3 innings in 31 starts with a 3.21 ERA and a 3.65 FIP. His strikeout rate was 21.4 percent with a 5.8 percent walk rate, and he allowed 0.95 home runs per nine innings. Both the Padres and Cubs have pretty obvious weaknesses. The Cubs' offense is sputtering and has been for quite some time, and the Padres' offense has little to no power. On the pitching side, the Padres are rolling out the desiccated corpse of Yu Darvish today, while the Cubs are equalling that with Jameson Taillon. Both teams are quite good, but they have significant warts.

Teel was a 30-60 prospect at the time of the trade. If I was the White Sox, my ask would have been something along the lines of Made and Misiorowski. So yeah, big ask, probably a price the Brewers would be (and should be) unwilling to pay.

Ortiz has had three months this season with an OPS in the 400s, including September. There comes a point when it ceases to matter how good a guy's defense is, it can't overcome 200 points of OPS.

The Brewers are heading to the playoffs. When they get there, what's your biggest concern that could hold the team back from advancing?

I know these games don't matter, but c'mon.

I don't really "care", but it's a nifty thing to accomplish. I'd rather see them do it than not.

In this case, it does matter a little bit. But the team I do not want to play is the Dodgers. I’d certainly rather play the Reds than the Padres.

Zimmerman getting the start in this game that does not matter for the Brewers. But still, they kinda need to win two more times so they can set a new franchise record.

Agreed. As much as I'd like to see him stay with the Brewers, he's been waiting for a payday for a long time, and it probably shouldn't come from Milwaukee. Not a good on-field value for the team.

Our resident physical therapist and injury expert put it at 6-8 weeks, I believe. His first response was "Woodruff is done this season". Such a colossal bummer. But I'm not sure why people are questioning his career from here on out. While this is a huge disappointment for both Woodruff and the Brewers, it's not the kind of injury that puts a career in jeopardy, like at all.
