I think this might be reading too much into the situation. Where it's easy to see why Civale wants to absolutely maximize the 100-ish innings he has before free agency this season, that's less likely to be the case in the offseason, particularly if he pitches well and receives a two-year deal.

I'm curious where people land on this and why. Personally, I don't have a problem with him doing it. But also given how pitchers go down about once every three minutes, it seems slightly rash to immediately ask for a trade.

Welcome to Brewer Fanatic! For clarification, this article was written in February. I mean, hasn't Jake Bauers been a solution this season, especially at the price? He's having himself a nice little season in a platoon role with limited usage. I don't think anyone believes Bauers is a long-term solution. The question is more whether Black has a role anywhere, something I've been skeptical of for a couple of years now.
