  1. What we do at Twins Daily is to send multiple writers down on a staggered time table that covers about four weeks of ST. What we do is produce *at least* one daily report and the occasional editorial piece about a specific player, coach, or whatever. We also capture brief player interviews to get some direct face-to-face after the long winter. Does this overlap with what you see in the Brewers landscape?
  2. So I've been kicking something around in my head but there are a *ton* of moving parts and I want to get a feel for how all of you follow the Brewers every spring. 1. How closely do you follow ST? Not the games but the players, progress updates, prospects, etc. 2. What news outlets do you follow to get spring training coverage? 3. Is there enough ST coverage for the Brewers and/or how could it improve? If as many of you could respond as possible, it will be VERY helpful. What I have cooking in my head is quite expensive and a pretty big jump forward and I don't even know if it's feasible but I want to explore the option for 2023.
  3. After watching a very disappointing Twins game at Target Field and then listening to two innings of the Brewers game on way home, I woke up to a very pleasant surprise in the box score. Do that again, please.
  4. Buxton obviously became a great player but he was abysmal for 2+ seasons in MLB. I’m not even saying don’t call up Frelick, I probably would… but scouting a stat line is very problematic. There could be significant issues the coaches see that we do not. But if this is a service time issue, BLECH.
  5. You know, I was actually going to type a disclaimer about that and then thought “Aw, no one will care”. ?
  6. This team cannot continue losing games like this and expect to play in October.
  7. Thanks for the consideration. Today my wrist itches like I was bitten by 100 mosquitos.
  8. Arghhh I can’t even sign up to Bally Sports + because my billing zip code is in Minnesota. Baseball broadcast rights are the dumbest **** ever.
  9. It’s so flippin’ irritating that the Brewers are playing so many day games while I’m at a cabin in northern Wisconsin so I’m blacked out of my usual services (including DTV Stream, explain that one to me).
  10. Oh sure, with that I agree.
  11. While technically correct, this underplays how bad Hader has been. He was put into a men on base situation last night so no runs were charged to him but he lit the stadium on fire. He only needed to get two outs but gave up a hit, walked a guy, and hit another guy while striking out no one.
  12. Sorry, merging difficulties led to a bit of confusion. I merged the softball forum into this one but this sticky topic was a remnant. Ignore this thread.
  13. Honestly, just lulz. Buxton was literally the number one prospect in baseball. And he failed. Miserably. And if you want a more recent example, let me introduce you to this man. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=torkel000spe
  14. Right now I think it's mostly sample size but I think there's something that will never return Hader to what he was. I advocated for the trade of Hader the same reason I laughed at the signing of Craig Kimbrel. Get out while you can, the Mariano Riveras, Billy Wagners, and Joe Nathans are few and far between. Get out before they're 30 and move on.
  15. On top of what we've seen already, he just came in to bail out Darvish tonight and was really bad. His ERA doesn't reflect how bad he has been despite it being over 10.00.
  16. I mean, maybe. But how often does a hitter have a wildly exposed weakness that is only exploited at the major league level? Answer: often. I can't even rattle off the list of players who were "can't miss" top five prospects who just bombed out for an extended time in MLB. Here's a great example and he plays CF at an other-wordly level, much better than Frelick: Byron Buxton, who was literally the #1 consensus prospect at the time. AAA OPS as a 21-year-old: .986 MLB OPS that season after the call-up: .576 Some player performance translates directly to MLB. Some take time. Some never perform. As I said, our data is limited and we should always keep that in mind when casting 100% judgment over a decision.
  17. Well, you don't have to do the visualization, we'll take care of that... but if you ever get a weird idea in your head that something with the Brewers is statistically aberrant, PM me and we can take care of the rest.
  18. While I would call up Frelick, let's not go crazy here. Most top prospects end up back in the minors at least once because they can't handle MLB pitching/hitters. Frelick has all of 13 games at AAA. Yeah, he's killing it, which is why I'd call him up... but also, I have a stat line and scouting reports to read. I don't have piles of data and internal knowledge from which to make a decision. We all need to take a deep breath and remember we have - at best - 10% of the information required to make a decision.
  19. Understandable, but you were one of the people I was thinking about while typing this because you use data well in your commentary. ?
  20. We do this at Twins Daily and our data analyst would love to also include the Brewers but doesn't have the institutional knowledge to know where to look. https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/twins-tidbit-luis-arraez-is-a-unicorn-r12889/ These are wildly popular at TD and we just need someone to give this person ideas where to look for interesting data. Anyone out there who is data-minded and would like to explore helping with this?
  21. Events like this are pretty cool and only happen once every few years. Sometime over the past few days - I missed exactly when and am having trouble tracking down the exact post that did it - someone posted the 1,500,000th post on BrewerFan.net/BrewerFanatic.com! Thanks for always being awesome and creating such great content, everyone!
