  1. Wait, didn’t this game start two hours ago? How is it still only three top of the fifth?
  2. That’s fair. Those eight games seemed like a lot more than eight games. That stretch felt interminable.
  3. I tend to not put a lot of stock in day/night splits, as the variance always seems large and doesn't seem to have much correlation year-over-year. So I honestly couldn't tell you whether the Brewers have been good or bad in day games.
  4. Yeah, the teams are the ones who decide, I was just using "MLB" interchangeably with "the 30 teams making individual decisions". On top of the getaway day problem, having more baseball distributed throughout the day is better for the sport, especially young kids through the summer months. With 162 games for each team, there are plenty of games to spread around to different audiences instead of trying to tap 100% of one audience.
  5. MLB needs to schedule more day games. There's no good reason to start a getaway game at 7pm eastern.
  6. Fungibility. No one cares if he sits on the bench for eight days without pitching, nor does anyone care if you throw him to the wolves in a long outing and then cut him the next morning. Whereas the front office cares very much about the workload and playing time of Ethan Small.
  7. Given how demolished the rotation is right now, stashing a guy like Gonzalez at the back of the bullpen in a "break glass in case of emergency" situation isn't a terrible idea.
  8. That was the game right there. Tellez, with anything other than horrible luck, clears the bases and the game is 8-7. Sigh. The Brewers can't catch a break right now.
  9. That double play really hurt. The team is playing atrociously, finally show life, and that happens.
  10. Just brutal baseball. That last game was atrocious. Burnes dominated in the first and, despite having little to no control, mostly held it together. But the moment he left, everything unraveled.

  12. I really thought the Brewers were poised to take two of three and get back on track in this series. Instead, we all witnessed... whatever that was.

  14. The Dodgers and Yankees need to do it because baseball is far more reliant on local television deals than the NBA. I'm not even talking about all the money going into a pot. What I think the solution should be is that TV rights are split just like gate revenue. Each team playing gets their cut. Visit the Dodgers for a three game set and get your 48% for those three games. Because the Dodgers don't get that TV revenue if they don't have a team to play.
  15. How I hate sacrifice bunts before the eighth inning.
  16. It's fixed in other sports because... wait for it... television revenue is shared. That's it. That's the fix. If teams have closer to the same revenue, most of baseball's inequity is fixed in a snap.
  17. The biggest problem is television revenue. I wish more baseball fans acknowledged this. All a cap without more income equality does is make ownership more money. It doesn't mean the Brewers can compete with the Dodgers financially, it just means the Dodgers get to pocket a boatload of money.
  18. The sport needs revenue sharing and a floor. They already have a cap in practice and all it has led to is 90% of owners refusing to go over it.
