  1. Yeah, because the inequity fixes need to comes from owners and it was OWNERS that locked out players. No one should be the least bit surprised the owners did not fix the problem only they can fix after they locked players out of baseball.
  2. Yet they’re essentially tied for fourth in the NL with a 10-12 record against teams over .500 and are tied with the Braves and Giants in that regard.
  3. They can absolutely win the WS. A baseball team is never as bad as it looks at its low and never as good as it looks at its high.
  4. Ughhhhh check swing double exactly at the moment you don’t want a check swing double.
  5. This is what "an extremely good pitcher struggling with command on any particular day" often looks like. His stuff is still filthy, he just doesn't know where it's going this afternoon.
  6. Yeah, he really needed to cut that off. He wasn't particularly close and missed the hop, not the catch.
  7. Yeah, we jumped the gun a bit there but damn Burnes looked good in the first.
  8. Not to pick nits but where would you like the idea of a guy with a 50% strikeout rate?
  9. Looks like we get to watch the really good version of Corbin Burnes this afternoon.
  10. Yeah, he's not someone I'd be over the moon to acquire - especially because he's a lefty - but it might be a decent-but-cheap option.

  12. When a run environment is diminished, stolen bases both become more valuable and the necessary success rate lowers. As a whole, the league should be attempting more steals, particularly because so many modern pitchers are flat-out terrible at holding runners.

  14. An out of the box idea is Joey Gallo. He's buried in that Yankees lineup and struggling, probably as a result. Would the Yankees be interested in dealing him? I have no idea but it's a call that should probably be made.

  16. Small quibble, though. I think the Phils are perhaps the most disappointing team in the NL, the most disappointing team in baseball has to be the White Sox. They were basically unanimously picked to win the ALC and currently sit under .500. The Phillies are the Angels of the National League, it seems. They spend big and have elite players but are completely incapable of finding those complementary, league average players that teams need to win over 162. And they do it year after year to the same results.
  17. After a rough patch and the pitching still in flux, the Brewers kinda need to get back on track here.
  18. You have a strange sense of "good" if you're happy about waking up with a "4" leading the clock face... ? I also first woke up at 4-something but it's because a toddler was kickboxing me in her sleep.
