  1. Well that's not true at all. It all depends whether the team's scouting and development is good and they pick the right player. The Rays are masters at choosing the right players to pluck out of other systems. I'm not even defending perpetually bad teams who take shots at higher-risk players over more established players, I'm just saying that's what a lot of teams do, for good or bad.
  2. Oh, I get it. Literally the first thing I do after account creation is go turn off notifications. I run way too many different operations to receive notifications on most things, otherwise it just becomes a wall of noise.
  3. You mean game lineups? Perhaps Eye Black is just busy, he does this 162 times a year.
  4. I didn’t realize tomorrow is Burnes vs Fried. Definitely tuning into that.
  5. B-Ref has yearly splits for MiLB but not career splits. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=hiura-000kes&type=bgl&year=2022 (scroll down below the game logs)
  6. Absolutely, but that team also gets 6+ years of that player if they pan out, three of which are at the minimum, while Hiura is only going to get more expensive. Teams, especially rebuilding teams with long timelines, are much more likely to trade for a bigger risk with more potential control years over a player with limited control remaining and a rising contract. What good would Keston Hiura do for the Pirates or Orioles? Neither is going to be good this year. Neither will likely be good next year. That means the actual "upside" in Hiura is trading him for yet another piece in the coming year to acquire yet another player that will arrive later but have considerably more control time attached to them.
  7. But I suspect every one of those non-contending teams would rather take a flyer on an A-ball player over Keston Hiura.* *naturally, this depends on no significant changes with Hiura
  8. This isn't a bad pickup idea but I don't see how the Brewers pursue anything but a legit centerfielder first and foremost. I'm becoming more confident that Cain is cooked by the day.
  9. The thing about rebuilding teams is that they're not generally looking for multi-million dollar guaranteed contracts with limited team control left, which is where Hiura is rapidly heading in his career. Will a team take Keston? Sure, definitely. Will a team give up anything of value for Keston? Almost surely not.
  10. Try changing your notification settings here: https://brewerfanatic.com/notifications/options/
  11. I generally ignore strikeouts but even I acknowledge a 40% K rate is too damned high and Keston's 2022 mark was nearly 50%. When a strikeout rate goes much over 33%, it's indicative of bigger problems with the hitter, either an inability to recognize pitches and/or a gaping hole in his swing that's easily exploited by even mediocre pitchers. So while strikeouts "don't really matter", that only applies if the player's strikeout rate isn't astronomical, which Hiura's was this season (and his K rate has risen every season he's in MLB, a terrible long-term indicator).
  12. I think the Brewers need to forget about Hiura until the middle of June at the earliest. Let him go down, play every day, and see where he is in a month. Whatever ails him isn't likely to fix itself in ten days so give him plenty of time to get his feet back under him, then see if the changes he has made might translate to the MLB level.
  13. No worries, you needed to move the tickets and this forum gets the most traffic.
  14. That's interesting and I don't think it's wrong. But inversely, I lived in San Diego for a long time and they don't promote their 84 and 98 pennants nearly as much as Brewers fans do their 82 pennant. I'm not saying it's wrong, damn the Brewers had SO MANY GOOD PLAYERS during that stretch and all of those players deserve recognition. So maybe that's the difference. The Brewers had Yount and Molitor while the Padres only had Gwynn.
  15. An MVP level Yelich makes the Brewers an elite team and I'm fascinated that Brewers fans don't see it.
  16. I mean, yes. There's so much angst with the Brewers that even if they faced the Twins in the World Series, I might cheer for the Brewers. At least at that point, the Twins would have won a postseason game so that's no longer an issue. But damn, I really want to see a Brewers championship. So much.
  17. A little bit lower odds than that because of the unbalanced schedule but yeah, it’s way higher than 1:29.
  18. He has 22 PAs with RISP and 44 PAs with men on base. We're still in microscopic sample size territory. Strangely though, Renfroe has just a 74 tOPS+ split with RISP in his career. Though that's also probably at least in part due to data noise, as his men on base tOPS+ is 98. Overall, it's the kind of thing I rarely pay attention to because almost all players end up performing to their career baseline in run-scoring situations.
  19. Please don't refer to living human beings as trash cans. I know frustration boils over in times like these but let's try to keep the discourse level above insults toward the players. It's fine to be upset and complain but a line is crossed when we start referring to players and personnel this way. Thanks.
  20. What on earth is happening in this game? I've been out running errands and doing work all day.
  21. I cannot wait for that to change in 2023. It's long overdue.
  22. Every Reds game I look at their starter ERA and say "woof, another 8-something ERA guy". Their rotation ERA is 8.20 this season. That's almost unbelievable.
  23. Statistical analysis has concluded your best - or at least one of your best - hitter should hit second. Most good teams I’ve seen have one of their elite bats in the two spot. For example, Juan Soto is batting second tonight for the Nats.
