  1. if we can pull this game off i'd say it's a pretty good day.
  2. I sure am liking this ESPN Gamecast. Situational splits scrolling across the bottom of the screen (say that 10 times fast. okay it's not that hard). Pitch is "thrown", ball goes to where it was hit but it goes slow so there is some suspense. Don't get me wrong, i love: In Play, Run(s). But this is pretty sweet. Actually, MLB.com came out with a new one too that i haven't really begun to figure out yet.
  3. We started off even worse on defense last year and it was guys like Jenkins making the errors. It's still ridiculously early to be worried that this will happen every game, isn't it? These things will smooth out, won't they?
  4. Whoever's going should dress in leather and maybe trick out their hair wild thing style... you'd be on ESPN for sure.
  5. Hall needs to work on his routes. If Rickie can improve at 2nd, Hall can play CF
  6. If Jenkins hits 25 HR this year we are going to be in great shape. Could he hit 30?
  7. Suppan has no command right now but i think he will be fine.
  8. Okay Geoff, Kevin, we get it. You can swing really really hard.
  9. This is the last game that i'll be watching live all year, but i'll still be able to get on Brewerfan when the internet cooperates. I'm going on a six-month deployment tomorrow with most of the time spent floating around somewhere in the gulf. Luckily, i have a cool girlfriend who's going to tape the games and send them to me. This is the first season i can remember that i will not have gone to Miller Park/County Stadium at least once. I'll make up for it next year, though. Suppan owns Florida. Hopefully that will continue tonight. Go Brewers!
  10. Well, they'll want Wise because he looks a little like Majewski. And then yeah, give them Capellan. Throw in some trash and you've got a deal.
  11. Nelson Cruz sighting in the bottom of the 8th in Texas. Bases loaded, no outs, first pitch swingin' hits a pretty hard liner right at the first baseman who drops the ball and throws to 2nd for an out.
  12. Boston at Texas on ESPN right now... Ortiz has two at bats and two homeruns. He makes it look so easy. Also, Red Sox fans were cheering very loudly at one point which apparently angered the Rangers fans. They soon started booing the Red Sox fans. As bad as it is to have to deal with Cubs fans, at least we have the excuse that they are a couple hours down the road. Boston, MA to Arlington, TX: 1784 Miles (per Google).
  13. In the words of coaching great Isiah Thomas, "It's crazy enough, it just might work." I think most of the reason people are panicking is that we are not just losing, but we are losing to the Cubs. If this was San Diego or Arizona i'm not sure there would be the same reaction. That said, i don't know how anyone would expect to win with the lineup Ned put out there today.
  14. Mojo works for us, alright? Plenty of room at the espn message boards if you are into serious baseball discussion and blind optimism.
  15. i hope we see the same approach all year from our hitters but i just don't see it happening. I think most teams come out of spring training preaching the fundamentals only to toss them aside after the first week. I looked up last years recap of opening day and there was a quote from Carlos about how everything "we worked on carried over for us today." It won't last but these sure are some pretty lineups even without a caballo lurking.
  16. Did you go to Dodgerblues.com? That site is purposely very sarcastic and they almost seem to enjoy it when the Dodgers struggle. If you did go there, then you noticed that the name of the general discussion forum was Brewers 16, Dodgers 1. It's been that way for a while now. They take BF.net reverse mojo to the extreme.
  17. Going down to the bar to watch the game. Just had to post here first. AWESOME!
  18. Suppan is not going to be anyone's #2 starter. Maybe Pittsburgh. And he's definitly not going to be an ace. What he will be, like many have said, is an insurance policy in case someone else goes down. He is a quality arm, nothing more. We have to spend this money. Right now we have this Sheets Capuano Bush Vargas Villanueva --------------------------- Jackson Gallardo Hendrickson<-----------------!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Adding in Suppan puts more space between our major league rotation and guys like Hendrickson. Having Suppan last year might have put us in the playoffs. I doubt that we will lose Sheets and another starter this year again. But if it does happen, i'd rather have Capuano Suppan Vargas Villanueva Gallardo than Capuano Vargas Villanueva Gollardo HENDRICKSON
  19. Two of those guys (Hart and Hall) are starters now. So i don't know where you are going to get two more guys like Hall and Hart from.
  20. I don't see how Fielder and Rickie are really that close any more... Prince has already proved in his first full season he can play. Rickie has done nothing but get hurt and lose his power stroke. Plus if you think Peavey is going anywhere for just Weeks you are crazy. Maybe fore Fielder but we'd probably have to throw in Zach Jackson.
  21. Mench has value, DM of all people should see this. Mench for Lopez straight up is just crap. Jenkins for Lopez would be a great deal for us. Do they want him? not sure.
  22. Are they interested in Kolb's pitching, or just his enormous goatee?
  23. Quote of the month, in my book.
  24. Lopez sounds good... i really wish we had a place for Mench, though. This guy just really had a tough time here and don't forget he was adjusting to NL pitching for the first time... late in the season as well. He doesn't make that much and he's younger than Jenkins, but then again everyone loves Jenkins.. so what do you do.. trade em both i guess... The way DM's talking, these guys will all be gone.. but i don't think that's actually realistic. Maybe 3 of em. My guess would be Jenkins and Bow. Whatever the case, it's going to be a good return.
  25. ESPN front page has an insider article with the headline: "Astros close to landing Lee" This is horrible news...
