  1. If the game doesn't go a certain amount of innings the previous results are wiped off of the books. This happened earlier in the year. So if this game doesn't get continued tonight it never existed. If they decide to replay it it will start from inning 1 no matter when they play it.
  2. When computers start to determine balls and strikes I will stop watching. The furthest that I'm willing to go is a "challenge" system. You have a system in place where every single pitch is monitored and judged by a computer, and between 1 to 3 times per game (probably 2) a manager can make a challenge on a call to which the umpire can get an immediate response from the computer. But even this is a stretch. We all know that each umpire has their own unique "zone" and I think this is one of the great things about baseball.
  3. And your Cardinals fan quote of the day: "I really really wanna cuss right now, but respect to the Board. Shirttails again. We just can't beat these guys, even with 9 inning shutouts. Arrrggghhhh"
  4. Did he say "All of America" or "The people at the Mall of America?"
  5. It does, however, ensure a couple starts from an AAA caliber pitcher and at least one start for Harden to get back into the swing of things... In summary, it gives the Cubs somewhat significantly less of a chance to win at least three games. I'll take it.
  6. Some athletes have the mental capacity to pull that off. However, for the most part, athletes are good at being athletic.
  7. This is what we needed. We put up a great streak sweeping the marlins and then sweeping the first 3 on the road. It would have been real easy to let this game slip but we pulled it out and are now 5-1 on the trip as opposed to 3-2. I don't want to be pessimistic but losing 2 in minnesota wouldn't be nearly as bad, now. Let's go for another sweep, though.
  8. Can someone please explain THIS chain of events: Houston - Bottom of 1st SCORE Yovani Gallardo pitching for Milwaukee K Matsui grounded out to catcher. M Bourn walked. L Berkman doubled to deep right center, M Bourn scored. C Lee grounded into fielder's choice to third. H Pence grounded into double play, second to first, C Lee out at second. Isn't that 4 outs? Someone said something about a play by Bill Hall, and someone else said something about a free out. What is going on?
  9. The days of being satisfied with a winning road trip are over. We take it game by game and we expect to win every night.
  10. Let's be realistic here. People are not going to be "soaked" or "sopping wet" after this thing goes off. It sprays water into the air which will most likely fall as a slightly heavy mist. After one or two homeruns people will come to expect it, maybe even anticipate it with great excitement, who knows. Point being, you see a Brewer homerun, you cover your camera with something or put it in your pocket. Worst case scenario, you forget, or don't see the homerun, and your camera gets a little mist on it. The poncho idea is pretty good, though. Off topic, but do they still do anything like bucket head night?
  11. I am of the opinion that we keep him as long as we can and either trade him before his final season or let him walk and get the picks. There are two reasons for this: 1. If he gets back up to the 40 to 50 HR level and really starts mashing, we simply won't be able to afford him. 2. If he really falls off, his agent will still try to command as much as he can for him, and at an inflated price why would we want him? I have confidence that we will make the most out of having the rights to him, the real question is: Who takes his place? Right now, if Gamel doesn't improve defensively I would think that would be a logical move. The guy can field the ball he just has issues throwing. It's also likely that we see a few first basemen drafted in preparation for his departure.
  12. Injuries like this happen all the time in sports, and often times on championship teams. It's just a matter of finding the guy that is going to step up. That's why you give inexperienced guys like Gamel a shot. Really, though, it could come from anywhere. Counsell, Hall, even Mgehee. If no one can do it and we are still in it by the deadline then you add second baseman to the list.
  13. Fact: You love attention. /thread
  14. So, the thread title indicates that Iribarren is coming up, but nothing has been confirmed in this thread yet. Has this been confirmed yet?
  15. this is so frustrating.. i'm at work during the game.. fine.. but then i go to directv.com to hit record so that I can watch it when I get home and it's not listed... awesome. is this game even on directv? anyone?
  16. Cards fans have got to be ticked.. we just lost a potential 30HR player and threw a new one into the lineup.. Ha.
  17. Don't feel bad, I had the same question when it got rained out. If the game doesn't go 5 innings it is cancelled and replayed. If it does, the score is final. If the score is tied, then it is restarted from the same score.
  18. If Hall gets moved to second base, why can't Counsell sub for him against righties? Gamel can play third in those situations which actually makes sense.
  19. Nothing drastic, folks. Let's handle this in house if at all possible. Rickie will be back.
  20. Man... Well, one thing is for sure, we are really killing the Sounds chances at a title this year! lol If Iribarren is good on defense i say you bring him up but if he is error prone you definitely bring up Escobar.
