  1. Here's the deal when it comes to HD vs. SD. If you have a non-HD tv, just a regular one, the non HD broadcasts will look just fine. The tv was made to receive SD. However, when you have an HD TV and you are watching something that's not in HD, it looks AWFUL. And that's why us HD TV owners get a little "snobby" when it comes to what we watch. It's feast or famine. And i know you can swith the ratio so that it doesn't stretch it as much but i can't stand the bars on the sides with SD. Plus my TV isn't huge so it's harder to see that way... By the way, National Geographic HD, Secret Yellowstone on right now. Awesome! Up next, Extreme Alaska. I'm lovin' it.
  2. I'm really curious to see what the fans will pick... Me, i've narrowed it down to two options
  3. So the fact that we are playing horrible baseball is "okay" because the Phillies and Cubs aren't playing very well either? And yes, we have lost ground. We've lost game and a half which could be pretty significant.
  4. Wait.. There is an "Option C" http://i423.photobucket.com/albums/pp313/sfinman/optionc-1.jpg CC is moved back one day to start against Philly and then instead of pitching on 5 days rest again on 9/17, you skip Suppan on 9/16 and you are now back to the regular schedule. This is a hybrid of Option A and Option B and it gives you exactly what was good about each of them. The only two negatives here are: A. The "Spot Starter" and B. Suppan would pitch on 10 days rest at one point. Maybe good, maybe bad.. But I like it better than Option B. Also, Suppan could make a couple bullpen appearances while he's waiting to start again. I'll take him over Gagne any time.
  5. Well, he COULD start the first playoff game but he'd be pitching on 6 days rest. I just don't even see that as a situation that Ned would allow himself to get into. Here's another question... given the way Parra has pitched lately and given the fact that he has less experience than Bush and Suppan, is Manny the odd man out should we go to a four man rotation in the playoffs? I say yes.
  6. I like that Ned went with the regular lineup today instead of putting in backups or callups. I know the callups have potential but this team has the talent right NOW and they have worked hard all year to be in this position. Ned's going for the kill and taking 3 of 4 from ANY team, home or road, is obviously a good thing. But taking 3 of 4 after losing the first game is even better. Cubs losing early 1-0, Tom Brady is injured, and Brett threw a bomb to Cotchery for the TD. Good day so far.
  7. I'm with you guys on the split theory when it comes to Philly. I'd be extremely happy if we could do that.. but for some reason i just keep seeing Burrell terrorizing us.. Anyway, i like the idea of Suppan starting the first game of the playoffs for us. That's why he's here.
  8. If you are going to change the rotation at all, the only thing you can really do or should really consider doing is to move Sabathia back one day to start the series off against the Phillies. In the short-term, that sounds great. But check out the domino effect that this has on the rest of the season: http://i423.photobucket.com/albums/pp313/sfinman/Brewsched.jpg You'll notice that with "Option B", Sabathia pitches 3 times on 5 days rest. This includes that game against the Phillies. While he could use the rest, it doesn't necessarily mean he will pitch better. I seem to remember him saying that he felt rusty after a game where he pitched on five days rest. With "Option A", he pitches on 5 days rest twice. Also, "Option A" gives CC two starts against the Cubs while "Option B" only gives him 1. Lastly, check out the potential playoff matchup differences. With "Option A" you have Suppan, Sabathia, and Sheets to start the series on a full four days of rest per pitcher. If you want to get crazy you could even start it off with CC and Ben on 3 days a piece. But with "Option B" you'd have to put them all on 3 days rest just to avoid Bush starting off the series. For me, the clear winner is "Option A" and it isn't even close.
  9. CC against the Reds is more likely to be a win than CC against the Phillies. Yep. I don't know how anyone on this board can be content to play for the wild card right now... The Cubs are failing and their pitching injuries haven't even had a chance to take effect yet! Play for the division and if we don't catch them then we settle for the wild card.
  10. This is just ridiculous.. how is he that bad? he can throw 95 and his changeup is still great.. i just don't get it..
  11. All he has to do is get three outs without giving up a run and Torres can come in and end our four days of misery.
  12. I sure hope CC is done now, he could use the rest.
  13. Woah, hey, watch your tone when addressing Mr. Sabathia, please. Ha, that's like the first time i remember anyone ever criticizing him since he's been here..
  14. Lots of action tonight with the NFL opener. The giants aren't messing around are they? I really thought they'd flop this year.. i mean.. it can still happen but they look good. I'd still rather watch the Brewers tonight..
  15. It's still a no hitter in my book. To me this is like when Barry Sanders retired early from the NFL. We all knew Barry was the best of his generation even if he didn't stick around long enough to set the all time mark. Celebration or not, it happened. I watched it from start to finish. In HD. And it's Tivo'd. That's all i need. Now that that's over can we please just start winning again.
  16. How bout we have CC Signs a new contract day? With the money we could save by not making his bobble there's no doubt in my mind we could re sign him.
  17. anyone else watching in HD just STUNNED by the difference between FSN WI HD by Time Warner and ESPN2 HD?
  18. As of the end of the 1st inning... Pitcher A: 15-8, 2.82 ERA, 210.1 IP, 208K, 1.13 WHIP, 52 BB - Over half of his starts were in the "tougher" AL on a bad team. Pitcher B: 19-5, 3.14 ERA, 189.1 IP, 157K, 1.14 WHIP, 47 BB - Playing all season in the NL on a first place team. Who's your Cy Young? *Disclaimer* I am well aware of the fact that when you switch from the AL to the NL your stats reset. However, it does not mean that those starts for Cleveland did not happen. If anything, it makes his numbers more impressive.
  19. Yep, there's the big shot from Blake!! 4-0 Dodgers and Webb's ERA jumps from 2.96 to 3.14.
  20. And the Dodgers start off strong against Webb. Ethier jacks one into the pool (which seems to get a lot of attention from homerun balls despite it's lack of size) and they get two more on base with 1 out. Now 2 down after a good play by the shortstop. I'm personally hoping for a Webb implosion to make CC's day look even sweeter to the Cy Young voters.. I know, i know, but he's already got MVP wrapped up http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. We've all seen CC make that exact same play routinely since he has come over...
  22. Even if they change the hit to an error, it's still not a no-hitter to me.. To me a no-hitter is all about the anticipation and the nail biting and then finally the celebration. Earlier this season when i was still living in San Diego, Randy Wolf had a no hitter going pretty late into the game and my friend and i jumped in the car and hauled down to the stadium at a moment's notice. Of course, that was broken up just as we were pulling up to the field... However, this DOES help his MVP/Cy chances, especially if the Dodgers come out tonight and light up Brandon Webb. If they are going to change it, they had better make the announcement either before or during one of the next two games. It'd be unbelievable to see a mid game curtain call for a guy who isn't even playing that day.
  23. Wait, did we just trade Rickie to the Cards? And did he change his name to Mather?
