  1. Well it's never a "THE" problem. It's often "A"/"one" problem. Their hitting with RISP is below average, but not significantly lower that it is a Major Issue. There are probably 5 to 6 other problems with a larger impact so it is relatively low on the list.
  2. You're not the only one, but is the general consensus to just throw the same crap against the wall and hope it sticks this time? I don't have an issue with Strzelecki, Bush or Topa, but they should be men on the outside looking for someone ahead of them to fail/get injured, not part of the solution. Gott can go as he's just another in the Boxberger-Milner group of middle relievers and we have buckets full of them (the guys that are good enough to make the MLB roster, but keep them away from mid to high leverage situations as much as possible. We need quality to handle 7/8/9th inning and we have Devin Williams and that's it.
  3. What happened to that glue this year? If he's around for the clown that brings the team together then he also failed this year so maybe the rest of the team is starting to tune him out. I think his role in clubhouse chemistry is probably not as significant as a better level of communication from CC and the GM/President.
  4. So relievers for next year we have Devin Williams.... check.........and......thinking.......thinking......looking at stats......throwing up my dinner.......thinking....... nope got nothing. Milner and Boxberger aren't horrible, but they just aren't very good. So assuming those 3 that leaves us 3 short (closer and 2 setup men). I can see Cousins getting a long look, but he has to have a season where he's mostly healthy before he's a given. Bush? Hope for a bounceback or is he always going to by a wild HR machine? Lots of back end of the bullpen candidates and few 7th/8th inning/closer options. Stearns needs to get some high level RP this offseason. Enough so that we don't ever go to the trade deadline needing to upgrade the BP because that is clearly a Stearns blind-spot.
  5. The Brewers BB% was 4th in MLB. Their BA was 21st. Their OBP was in the middle at 13th. They need more hitters with higher BA, which should lead to a higher OBP. They weren't bad at getting runners on based on their BB%, it was the killer BA. And as we all saw most of the season the lack of hits lead to a boring product and a dysfunctional offense.
  6. You are correct that most teams need to plan for 8 SP or at least for some "quality" depth to fill in missed starts. I think Stearns/etc. were fooled by the good fortune in 2021 plus with limited resources they had to decide how to use the assets they had and spending it on rotation depth wasn't high on the list. In hindsight how much better would they have been if they didn't sign McCutcheon and spent the $8M on a Wade Miley-TYPE signing of a vet to man the 6th spot and pushed everyone back one on the depth chart. Hard to know, but given how things shook out I'd bet if they went that route we'd be discussing SP alignment for the Wild Card round.

  8. The Brewers bullpen from August (sometime) until now lead the league in blown leads. Numero UNO. They will likely finish 1-2 games out of a playoff spot and I believe that keeping Hader would have likely made up those 2 games based on how the team lost all those games with leads. So we aren't looking at a hypothetical. I have never argued this team has the talent to shock the baseball world with a miraculous World series drive, There are some who think we just need to get into the playoffs and luck will one day catapult us to a win. I guess that's because at some point this team needs to even out in the luck department, but I'd rather go for talent over luck.
  9. I've heard this brought up about Yelich because they actually can time his run to first with a stopwatch and not a calendar. I guess the idea with Rowdy is that his grounders won't be DPs routinely like they are now, which won't really contribute much in his offensive numbers, but it will give the Brewers one more chance per grounder.
  10. 1. I don't think the decision to sign McCutcheon was a bad one. The decision to trot him out almost every day,no matter how bad he performed, was the bad decision. He also should have been platooned, but in CC's mind Cutch was the platoon for McCutcheon. Just horrible decision making during the season. 2. I don't think they relied on Small that much. They were hesitant to promote him due to not improving enough at AAA. Ashby was the primary depth for SP and he struggled, then with mutlitple injuries they had LindBOOM sitting at Nashville and Alexander and Small as the "depth". They went with 2 of the 3 and Alexander was successful initially and Small not. I'm glad they didn't even try LindBOOM, but when Alexander was struggling they went waiver wire/FA dumpster diving for the likes of Chi Chi Rodriguez. I get they don't have the $$$ for depth, but with Gasser they might have one more option that might be able to put up #4/#5 starter numbers if needed. 3. Trade Deadline - BINGO! They took a mediocre pen and removed the elite closer and added a bunch of meh to caca. Sending the message to the players that the long game matters, this season? nah.

  12. But at Catcher, oh my. Frelick is way ahead of Wiemer and Ruiz. Put him in the outfield and let the others "earn" a promotion. Ruiz could barely get the ball out of the infield on his short stay with the Brewers and Wiemer needs to work on a few things. No reason to move anyone until they are forcing the situation and I hardly think anyone on the Brewers is thinking we got to get Ruiz in the lineup in 2023 so we'll take our best prospect and move him. Guaranteed. Also, Yelich is a bad defender. He needs to spend 90% of his time at DH. No reason to keep him in the field at this point when every prospect grades out better at defense.
  13. Well with those numbers why would he be able to help the Brewers when they have so many better options.
  14. If Cousins could cut down on his walks he'd be an excellent 7th inning man. I don't know if he'd take to being closer, but he has the talent, just lacks a little control.
  15. Brosseau has a .344 OBP and a 0.762 OPS and I can't remember a game he actually got a hit or walk. Every game I remember is an 0 for like tonight.
  16. 30 tries #18 every time. 31st try #1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's something wrong with their algorithm. After the top Odds team pick you should have more movement of the remaining teams because their odds are much closer to each other than to the top 5-10. I rarely saw any real change in the 10-18 range except on the 31st try when it looked like every team switched places.
  17. Yes I think we should be reasonable in our expectations, but BABIP in 60PA is about as useless as any stat. Just too much noise for it to mean anything in such a small sample.
  18. 4 hits in the first 3 innings. I think a few players are really excited about having a long winter vacation.
  19. Well I predicted several months ago that we were headed for the most Brewers end to the season - missing the playoffs by 1 game and having the best record of the non-playoff teams (i.e. the worst draft position of the "losers").
  20. If you're going to answer your own questions, I'm not gonna play... ?
  21. Giving a few guys the night off so they'll be rested for the offseason.
  22. While Clancy has proposed some "interesting" position changes he hasn't gone so far as to propose a batter change from hitting left handed to right handed (or vice versa). I called it first if he does.
