  1. I believe Sal Bando and Dean Taylor each had children that married and had a child who is now the GM of the Reds.
  2. But every Sabermatrician will tell you that the third time through a lineup facing the same pitcher every batter hits a grand slam home run.
  3. CC is just reducing the run differential so he looks like a genius! Pretty smart.
  4. Building that confidence up for Devin one run scored after another.
  5. Devin should work on a pitch that isn't afraid of the strike zone.
  6. If you don't have lots of moments to celebrate, celebrate the moments a lot.
  7. I don't miss Hunter Strickland and it's nice to beat the snot out of his pitches.
  8. I believe yes, but I am not sure about the MendozaLine+ stat which is adjusted for league, home/away and weight of the specific player and age.
  9. I'd bet it's a lot more to do with the huge jump in Humidor usage this year than a problem with the balls coming out of the factory. I believe they have to check them before they put them into the Humidor so they should be identifying QA/QC issues before they get the humidity treatment. Personally I think outside of certain atmospheric anomaly locations (DENVER) it shouldn't be used.
  10. He was bad Freddy the first 2 starts and very good Freddy the last 2 starts so I will go with the trend and say another very good start is likely tonight (whether Keith starts him in Fantasy baseball or not). A couple of really rough early starts can really skew the data. I'm way more concerned with Woodruff than Peralta.
  11. Well that new Mets GM (who likely keeps his job when David Stearns becomes available) was smart and dumped Cano because he couldn't justify the benefit of having Cano on the ML roster. How long did Eric Sogard get penciled into the lineup when he was as bad as Cain? 113 PA before they cut there losses. Cain is at 73 and he was a big FA signing so they likely will give him longer to fail than Sogard before/if they cut ties. If he's on the ML roster there's almost no chance CC doesn't run him out there 2/3rds of the game so it has to be Stearns that needs to make the decision.
  12. Right now, I think Keston's value is so low that even as a throw-in he would net so little that I think the Brewers will just wait until they have to make a move (end of next spring training) then outright him to the minors. That gives them roughly 4 months to see if he can make the necessary adjustments (plus next spring). For Keston, he probably should just go the FA route as I think that there would be someone willing to give him a shot, but giving up any prospect with value is likely not going to happen.
  13. If hitting is contagious I'd like to know what vaccine Renfroe took.
  14. Good to see the Brewers are the wonderful guests they always are when they travel to Atlanta. Struggling early in the season? No worries the Brewers will come in and do nothing against your good pitchers and BTW we'll throw our 6th starter at you so no need for BP on mother's day.
  15. I don't think the Brewers hitters care. who's pitching for the other team When they see Burnes is pitching they take a vacation day.
  16. Not sure why the concern about another run. 1 run with Burnes pitching and a good lefty on the opposing mound = game's over.
  17. I must be the Renfroe jinx. It seems that every time I catch his AB he makes an out. Tonight he's 2 for 4 and I saw 2 outs. He has an OPS over 0.700 and I swear I don't remember a single hit.
  18. But that just mimics the leagues. The NFL treats it like a slap on the wrist, while MLB uses it as a means of punishing their players. The NFL also wants their stars to be popular and their brand/product to be popular and they have no problem sharing a fixed amount of revenue with their players so they have minimal labor unrest and minimal PR battles where they have to bash the players. MLB wants to push every dime into the owners pockets, makes the players out to be villains and the ones trying to destroy the game every CBA renewal (basically every 5 years they attack their own product) then they wonder why they have a general malaise problem and apathy from anyone under 40. MLB announces another suspension of extreme length to emphasize the players are ruining the integrity of the game, but the owners are there to protect it, so it makes the news, NFL slaps someone on the wrist and yawn. The whole playoff ban in MLB is just stupid because it punishes the team as much as the player. If they don't want the player to get additional "pay" then allow them to play, but suspend their postseason paycheck or donate it to drug addiction prevention, but that would make sense and MLB runs away from common sense.
  19. There are multiple roles in any scheme. IMHO, putting the guy in the wrong role in a scheme is usually the issue, not that he doesn't fit ANY role in a scheme.
