    Maybe? They can't make up a ton of money with a 10th round pick, like they can with earlier picks.

    Before the season, I was glad he was coming back because I thought he could at least be a serviceable AAAA guy to fill in during injuries. The way he's hitting, he could be a solid utility guy, long-term, on the MLB team.

    they're both AAAA guys. Seems unwise to expect much different performance, though their path to crapitude is different.

    I mean, one bat would be pretty great, and he only needs to fill in at 1B and DH, the easiest places to find a bat.

    Megill makes you happy? He's wretched. His greatest potential would be if we have a bench-clearing brawl because the dude's a huge human being.

    Rea isn't very good either. No internal options are good. The best we can hope for is a guy who can go 5 innings most times, giving up 2-3 runs. That can keep us in games.

    I would give up a lot more than what you guys are suggesting, but there's no way it happens unless the reds go on a 20 game losing streak or the Brewers drastically overpay. Like Black and another lesser prospect (20-30 rank) or two. Votto has been exceeding expectations this year (while healthy), but he's due for a regression.

    Hiura is hitting .333 vs. LHP this year. His splits have been inconsistent. If he magically started hitting LHP as well as a RHH should, he's an every day player.

    read a dodgers blog saying that they would still be interested in ADAMES, and with YELICH producing closer to his salary, that he would also be a target. And, of course, they mentioned that they might as well try to get BURNES included too. Did mention that the Brewers lingering near the top of the division would be be an impediment.

    Yeah, the only "strategy" that would be involved in making an unsignable early pick is if the strategy was to be cheap.

    Unless the rules have changed again, they don't free up any money by having a non-signee; their pool is reduced. Which makes me think they have a tentative agreement. So, unless there was a failure to communicate, he's probably getting signed.

    The jump to AA is a pretty big jump. MANY prospects stall there. Chourio is doing well there, considering his age, but Quero has stepped up his performance, changing his trajectory to a rocket.

    Frelick is obviously still riding on his 2022 performance, which was exceptional. the other guys should be 5-25 slots higher.

    If either of them gets games as DH, it will mostly be Contreras.

    Strzelecki hasn't been good this year, after being consistently solid last year. Is there an injury?

    What happened to Eric Brown? He hasn't played since June 3.

    There have been a ton of injuries, and most of our bounce-back candidates didn't bounce back. And we aren't that great at relatively full health (maybe a 89 win team). I'm a little surprised the record is as good as it is.

    By definition, regression to the mean always happens, given a long-enough time frame. The only time it doesn't happen is when the true value has changed.
