  1. which means it's baseball--random stuff happens--and thus you can't count that your ace will dominate every playoff game.
  2. I looked at some World Series winner predictors. Brewers were anywhere from 7th to 14th. There might be 4 teams that no one wants to run into during the playoffs, but the Brewers aren't one.
  3. This article would be true if the Brewers win over 70% of the rest of their games this season. Otherwise, it's ludicrous.
  4. Why, when someone posts a reasonable, logical argument, backed up by evidence, do you suggest that THEY are nuts? You are on the contrarian side enough that you might want to question whether you are the one who is nuts. #mentalhealthcareisimportant
  5. There's really no significant info there. If Brock wants to pay you for this, that's his right. Maybe you've got a kid in college you have to pay for. If so, more power to you; I won't be a hater. Hell, I won't even be a hater if you are doing it for beer money. But you didn't do due diligence. At minimum you should have searched for scouting reports, what their signing bonuses were, and asked for info from the few guys on this site who watch a ton of minor league games. You're not the only one who posts an "article" based on basically no research. It might help internet traffic to the site, but it reduces my enjoyment.
  6. A lot of pitchers in the DSL have control problems. These guys do not, which is one reason why they're doing well in the DSL. It doesn't signify that they're likely to do well in higher minors. Stuff is much more important than DSL stats. Unless you have some information on what they're throwing, you're not really contributing anything to the discussion. Only one of them has good SO numbers (another thing that tends to lead to success later--missing bats).
  7. so your argument is that if a player tries to improve, that means he sucks? I hope all our players are trying to improve.
  8. Does Murray have a chance to make the show? He's been pretty solid and was a fairly high draft pick.
  9. This makes me happy. I hope he ends his season healthy and raking.
  10. outside the box thinking usually fails.
  11. There is zero reason to believe Black would help, and it starts his service time.
  12. you guys know we're still in first place, right?
  13. I really hope Frelick isn't overanalyzing his approach after a period of 23 at bats and knows that success always fluctuates.
  14. I don't see any justification for picking Yelich over Bellinger, unless he greatly outperforms him during the rest of the season. And, I don't see any justification for excluding guys who simply have been mediocre for a couple of years. That hasn't been the case for the 50+ years of comeback player of the year.
  15. I've been thinking that for a while. Consider these players, who could probably all slot within the top 30 or so.* Black 5'10" Quero 5'11" Valerio 5'5" Chourio 5'11" C. Rodriguez 5'8" Wood 5'10" Moore 5'8" Lara 5'7" Arienamo 5'8" Guillarte 5'11" O'Rae 5'7" Norman 5'8" Baez 5'9" Ereu 5'10" DiTuri 5'11" * I don't think being 5'11" is limiting at all, unless the player is a 1B exclusively. My suspicion is that for players < 5'10," their ultimate ceiling is lower (on average) than their performance at the lower levels of the minors would suggest (say you have two guys who are legitimate prospects and are hitting about the same in A ball, and are the same age--I'd expect the 6'1" guy to end up the better MLB player instead of the 5'8" one). Exceptions will continue to exist, of course. And, of course, 5'10 is fine for a C or middle infielder.
  16. If your article title mentions winning comeback player of the year, it seems that you should analyze the case for other players, instead of just adding a throw-away line about Bellinger.

Working on it! There's another author at Northside Baseball that's writing a tandem piece on Bellinger and we're trying to do a better job connecting the articles, part of which might include agreeing on a pool of other guys up for the prize.

  17. You have purposely misinterpreted folks' posts.
  18. they make starts on 4 days rest when there is no off day within 5 days of their last start. and they generally get an extra day off fairly regularly. It's about workload. (Possibly) Excluding Burnes, the rest of the staff need to be handled gingerly.
  19. Our high draft picks have been doing amazingly well. If Boeve maintains his newly found power, he will be a huge steal. Does any of the prospect rating sites do a re-grade of teams draft after the season?
