  1. so they have 3 OF and 3 guys who can play OF in an emergency. I hope Cain starts hitting.
  2. You made a fatuous quick take (we all do from time to time), and you were called on it. Do you think that's enough to have a permanent grudge?
  3. I might edit this: 1. Joey Wiemer RF 2. Ethan Small LHP 3. Sal Frelick CF 4. Brice Turang SS 5. Antoine Kelly LHP 6. Garrett Mitchell CF 7. Jackson Chourio CF 8. Jeferson Quero C 9. Tyler Black 2B 10. Victor Castaneda RHP 11. Eduardo Garcia SS 12. Mario Feliciano C 13. Zavier Warren 3B 14. Hedbert Perez CF 15. Felix Valerio 2B 16. Tristan Peters OF 17. Joe Gray, Jr. CF 18. Abner Uribe RHP 19. Brandon Knarr LHP 20. TJ Shook RHP
  4. If they need a starter on short notice and the other options have pitched too recently, I could see him being called up.
  5. Lindblom is a "break glass in case of emergency" type guy. They know what they have in him, and it's not great. He hasn't had a good year in the majors for 10 years.
  6. He has 25 innings as a starter and 34 as a reliever in his career. Far too small a sample to draw inferences about whether he "comes into a game on a mission throwing strikes" when he relieves.
  7. I'd be talking about maybe moving Woodruff back one day and maybe moving Houser to the pen for a few days. Trying to get two LHP starting in every series against teams that do poorly vs. LHP..
  8. The Brewers aren't the only team to hit significantly better against RHP compared to LHP. Most of the teams that do so are pretty bad (CIN is the only one in our division), However, there are three very good teams that share that inclination with the Brewers: LA Dodgers, Houston, and NY Mets. Two of them might be opponents in the National League playoffs, and Houston is a legitimate contender to get to the World Series. We have an excellent internal opportunity to improve the LHP on the team with Ethan Small. Of course you don't move Burnes out of his normal rotation spot (and Lauer is a lefty), but our other starters have been inconsistent this year. Any chance we move Small onto the roster to get a couple of starts vs teams that do badly against LHP*, or at the very least call him up early enough to be playoff eligible? * Brewers play against a few teams that do badly against LHH June 10-19, and have home and away series against LAD in middle-late August.
  9. I think he's a good choice as a stopgap until Mitchell or Frelick get promoted (a half year or year after Wiemer). If M&F weren't in the system, Mitchell would be getting a lot more time in CF.
  10. Yelich and McCutchen (at this point) should never be more than emergency CF.
  11. Yelich and McCutchen (at this point) should never be more than emergency CF.
  12. You can't make a change unless you have someone to replace him. If Taylor isn't it, you have to look elsewhere, and there aren't a whole lot of CF in the majors who might be available at a reasonable cost and who are actually performing well. A rental (or with one more year of control) would be ideal since we have guys in the minors who should be promoted no later than the end of next season. The guys in the minors are either AAAA guys (who could potentially stay hot in the majors for a while) or Wiemer, who would be playing outside his ideal position. But Wiemer will force his way onto the brewers sooner rather than later.

  14. Any chance his ceiling is higher than AAAA guy? He has never hit nearly as well in his entire pro career. Sorry, I didn't see the discussion on the second page before I posted.
  15. Looking at the stats, I can't find any CF who is hitting OK on a bad team, and who might be available. But while we're dreaming, lets send our #1-10 prospects and Lauer for Mike Trout.
  16. relative to other teams, the brewers offense is doing blood doping instead of being anemic. It's an off year for hitting.
  17. Sure, if what you want is a 5th outfielder, go ahead and bring up Davis, who is a 30 year-old AAAA player and has a career batting average of .171 in the majors. And if you want someone to start on a playoff team, bring up the guy who's more likely to mash the ball. If the Brewers didn't want CF to be in Wiemer's repertoire, they wouldn't be giving him innings in CF. And be serious, he'll force his way onto the team next year at the latest. And they'll still have Yelich and Renfrow (arbi-eligible). If he's on that team, a lot of his games will be in CF.
  18. Not sure if that was meant to be sarcastic. He's hit RHP better than LHP in his major league career.
  19. Maybe 65% Though this year it might be closer to 69% of the time.
  20. If rosters expanded to 40 in September, he'd be a call-up possibility. I think he only comes up if we have more injuries. but if things are so bad you need to call him up, why not call up Wiemer?
  21. Even if that is true (I think it's not), McCutchen's sample size is plenty big.
  22. I did see a rumor that the Brewers were interested in acquiring Benintendi. Unless the writer is using Brewcrew82 as his source?
