  1. I hope he keeps it up (except next week when the Twins play Milwaukee). A race for 400 is good for baseball. If he is anywhere close to 400 come September, the media push will be crazy (almost enough to overshadow the other sports media circus in Minnesota). Was he out earlier in the year, as he is on a pace for 102 games. If that is part of his normal rest, he will need a few games at DH.
  2. He's not an upgrade at the moment, so let him get some more work in at AAA until he is a real upgrade. Instead of trying to prove he belongs, he needs to know he belongs. I don't think the Brewers should go for Rolen unless they can get a good trade after this year. I suspect Gamel will be more than ready by next year.
  3. Great news, I hope they don't have to cut too many corners making it for CC. Maybe Uke's head in a jar can get another cameo.
  4. That sounds like there is overheating going on, 40 minutes is plenty to overheat a chip. When you did all the cooling, did you remove the heat sink from the CPU? If so, you need to clean off the old thermopaste and put on some new stuff. You can get some at Best Buy, and probably local shops as well. As long as it says silver, it should work fine.
  5. Just use the new detection method: Tank McNamara - steroids On a side note, perhaps the Nats being on the juice will convince others that steroids don't work http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Blowing out the fans may work, but depending on the model you might be better off opening it off and checking if there is significant build up of debris where the fan blows air over the heat sink. I have an old Sager (got second hand) that would overheat and shut down after 30-60 minutes. When I opened it up for cleaning, there was a mat of singed hair and dust and crud that looked like a piece of felt over the heat sink. After removing and putting on some fresh silver termopaste, it's been without heat problems for 3 years.
  7. I think it was 4. Before the 60 season he hit 54 in '23 and 29 in '22. I'm guessing he had the record before that as well (say 17 in '21 or something like that).
  8. Does Tony L get paid by the number of pitching changes he makes?
  9. According to wikipedia it's a drug used as part of the steroid cycle. http://en.wikipedia.org/w...n_chorionic_gonadotropin So the 'personal health problem' sounds like it was shrinking testes. If the reports about the substance being hCG are correct, he should get an extra 25 games for his lame, weaselly response.
  10. The one thing that is really unusual about this streak is that this isn't a case of a top team vs an expansion team. In fact if you throw out the head to head games, Milwaukee and Pittsburgh have pretty close records.
  11. If his pants were on fire, he should have at least been caught in a big lie.
  12. I felt the same way until Karstens hit Braun...now I want to drive them into oblivion. By the look of the crowd, they are already there.
  13. The MLB network had a list of 5 games including this one that were 1-0 with the pitcher hitting a home run, dating back to 1965. I was also at a game where Maddux out-dueled Hershiser 1-0 and drove in the only run, but it was not a home run. I guess the bottom line is that a performance like that is impressive and rare, but not unique.
  14. It sounds like the read-only attribute was set. (Just right click and select properties). When you copy a file, those flags get copied as well.
  15. If the theory is correct the winds will burn out their staff in April and September. With any luck that will keep them out of the playoffs. At least one can hope.
  16. This is again one of those stories that never should have happened. My best friend was killed by a drunk driver, so this hits home to me on a personal level. My wife and I spent some time in Ireland a year or so ago, and they had probably one of the most disturbing Public Service Announcements about the dangers of what they call "drink driving" that I've ever seen. The link is below, but I need to warn you that it is very graphic, but you'll think twice about drinking and driving after viewing it. Rickey I'd love to say that it will change people's minds, but they generally justify their behavior by thinking it won't happen to them. Apparently they are bulletproof. Tempting to put that to the test by shooting anyone who tries to drive drunk. Bars should be required to have bouncers to keep drunks from leaving without a ride home. If that's not enough, anyone caught drunk driving once should be branded and forbidden from buying alcohol (heavy fine + loss of liquor license as a penalty), and any 'friend' serving the drunk assumes equal liability - both civil and criminal. Sure it's draconian, but I'd rather inconvenience a million drunks and the bars and liquor stores they patronize than lose one Nick Adenhart.
  17. I would prefer Nelson as a platoon with Hart over Duffy.Bat-wise yes, but they made mention of Nelson's lack of speed in the Padres game on FSN, which allowed at least one batter to stretch a single into a double. If Hart's due for a day off, or needing a platoon, Duffy might be a better choice if the other team has good speed. Hopefully the starters play well enough so that it's just a day off for each a week, spread between Duffy and Nelson.
  18. Only if you are lucky. My daughter is several years from 5th grade, but I've long since determined that she will be a real firebrand. If she mellows out. A lot. As far as I've figured out, boys will respond to authority and discipline, but no such luck with girls. Your best bet is to grill your wife about how she was as a child, and what if anything worked or might have worked on her. If she says that she was wild, nothing worked and she drove her mother mad, you have my sympathies. Any of the ladies on BFN have suggestions for us poor dads?
  19. Yes, that's still true, and why I didn't join it here. I used to be a member 10 years ago in CA, but back the that were Discover, not AmEx.
  20. I think it would be easier for a backup catcher to develop a rapport with one pitcher that he sees every 5 days, rather than one he catches once a month. There will probably be a few extra games for Mike as well (some of the day games after night ones, etc.) Unless something turns into a complete disaster, I expect this to continue for much of the season.
  21. Whats with all the outs at home? I thought they were trying to avoid plays at the plate in spring. McClung at only 10 pitches after 2 innings. I had to do a double check on that one. Thanks Seattle for not working our pitcher to much.
  22. I don't know what BP's cutoff is, but I don't see Escobar, Gamel and Salome getting more than a September call-up barring injury. They all have some work to do. As for when this batch is gone, the ranking will depend on the development of the next batch, Cain, Jeffers, Lucroy, Lawrie, Scarpetta, etc.
  23. Hi Josh, With all talk lately about player injuries (Gamel, Gwynn, Hall, etc), I was wondering if there is specific clauses in the contracts that allow reporting about these injuries that might otherwise be prohibited under HIPAA, etc?
