On at least one occasion tonight it appeared the batter was just sitting fastball on Wichrowski. Wich wasn’t able to land his cutter or slider for a strike in that at bat and the batter demolished a high fastball in a hitters count.

Seems fairly apparent that GG is prioritizing ($) experienced portal and international players during this NIL era. Players like Kon that could start as freshman may be the exception, but I would expect more of the Kinzinger, Fenderson types as recruits that develop over a couple of years then either are heavy contributors/starters or portal down a level. Can’t say I disagree with this philosophy either but it still sucks to watch talented local kids exit the state regularly. -

It would help if he had more defensive versatility. He’s pretty much a DH.

I love following the minor leaguers, always something exciting going on with the boys. Thompson looked really sharp in his debut. If Handelfry figures out the whole contact and barreling-up thing with his bat skills, could be another to watch.
