More than anything it was probably a game the Reds had no business winning, so we did. If this was "RedsFanatic" all you'd be hearing about was the runners left on base. Brewers' hurlers certainly walked a boatload.

I get it---we couldn't hit Monday or Tuesday. But the way Woodruff & Sproat pitched in the first two games, I mean, positives are hard to find sometimes when you lose, but when you WIN? When you pick up a sweep on the road, regardless of the opponent? When you give up ZERO ER in 19 innings to start the series, in THAT ballpark? Odd. Sucked for Yoho/Contreras going away from the changeup on the HR cuz up until then I thought Yoho was pretty solid. I'm guessing Patrick could've used another day, and Anderson was really disappointing. The RBI double that made it 6-2 should've been shaken off as a 'who cares, get back to work' moment but it really seemed to affect him.

After the last two games this feels like an 8-6 type deal tonite but who knows? I will once again point out how much emphasis the organization puts on run prevention & how much I love that. Over the last six games the Brewers have struggled to score outside of the big inning in Atlanta. Other teams that go through this--and they DO go through it--might go 1-5 in that stretch. We went 3-3. The starts we've gotten from the non "big two" the last three days has been the big story IMO.

They would. I'm not real familiar with the ballpark or footprint up there but I THINK it's somewhat expandable?

Almost as if they're priming & preening for the day when Nashville gets an MLB team and they want to show they're worthy of AAA designation............?

Yeah, I can't imagine the team carrying Anderson all this time if he wasn't available to throw. For the middle inning roles Patrick has obviously moved ahead of him, and when the late-inning trio is available that puts Kuhnel in a 'middle' role & it appears they like Kuhnel over Anderson, too. I'd love to see Patrick get one more day, as you said 1 inning would probably be OK though. Otherwise Anderson following Drohan looks like it may be a good bet today. I believe Murphy alluded to not wanting to use any of the late guys today so Kuhnel probably gets held back in case he's needed.

Interesting stat: Fischer leads the organization in RBI with 53, and unless I missed someone second on the list with 52 is............Jose Anderson of Wilson, who is hell-and-gone from even being remotely close to a finished product approach-wise---even when compared to many low-A bats. Such an incredibly high number of great stories throughout this system.

I was just going to mention; with all the offensive carnage throughout the system Quero is quietly having a very nice year. Another guy who's hot is Mike Boeve, who looks like he might be a man w/o a position.

You could diddle around with Yelich & Turang flipping, I have no idea if it would make a difference. Whether it's Chourio or Contreras hitting behind him, it's good to get Yelich some pitches to hit. Of course these days he could have Willie Mays behind him & I feel he'd still swing at breaking balls out of the zone. It's unavoidable from time to time, but the bad thing about tonite is with Sanchez catching and Contreras hitting is if you hit or run for Sanchez you lose the DH. Another concern in this one is if Sproat is ready to call it a night in the 4th-5th inning with LH sticks due up, you no longer have the pre-Ashby lefties in the pen that we've seemed to have all season. Koenig can't get back soon enough.

Baddoo has certainly been hot, but what sucks about this is you have Frelick, Mitchell & Yelich who's at least listed as an OF all LHH. The last thing you need is another LHH OF. If there's an OF stashed on someone's bench or AAA roster who swings from the right side I'd maybe look to swing a minor deal for him. Lara had a week or so off when he signed the extension, and has cooled off since. Maybe he'd be an option but not any time soon. Also Perkins has looked better from the RH side recently, so as per usual I don't think this is going to cause an immediate panic. Sucks tho, I was looking forward to Lockridge making it back.

It's beating a dead horse but some of these breaking pitches, not just missing them but by HOW MUCH he misses them is really astounding.

Agreed. I'll give Mitchell credit for going from arguably one of the worst ABs of the game to a terrific one in the 10th, but definitely left Singer off the hook there.

I've mostly liked the way Yoho has looked since the callup. But we know there's a 'trust' thing on this team and I'm not surprised Kuhnel was called on. It's the same mindset that kept Pratt in AAA maybe longer than some liked, and what's kept a couple of the people who contributed in the 10th from being thrown under the bus. That, and Jett Williams hitting .219 lol.

If they lost a tough one late, I was all set for a "lost the battle but maybe won the war" post due to Woodruff's outing. But it's nice to win both. The command reminded me of how he looked last year after coming off the IL, and getting lathered up & eventually settling in at 93-94 was good to see. When the Brewers lose a game & don't hit, the tendency is to trash the offense without giving the pitcher any credit. Tonite though, while Singer was obviously good I didn't think he was 7-shutout innings good. He was on the edges effectively but I thought we chased way too much, although that may have been partially fueled by Singer throwing 739 pitches right on the edges, not getting the call, and Stephenson challenging every. Damn. One. Mitchell with a great AB in the 10th after falling behind in the count. Frelick with a perfect bunt, then Ortiz not trying to do too much. Kudos to him.

I don't trust his command enough for that kind of role. At some point, maybe. My preference right now is to try to get him from the 3-4 good innings-guy to 5, 5.1, 5.2. I too would like to see him getting the ball every 5 days in Nashville; hopefully the rotation fleshes out enough for that to happen.

I'm surprised it was Rom getting removed for Woodruff. It makes it even more odd that he wasn't used Sunday, plus even though Rom is no world-beater now you're looking at only one LHP in the BP (although from the sound of it Drohan could be returning there). That might buy Koenig a little more time if they feel that's needed? I get people not wanting to see Sproat starting, but if he's removed from the rotation at some point then please let him stay stretched out in Nashville.

He sure did🏋️♂️🏋️♀️🏋️♂️ lol. I think you're right about the passiveness in his approach though, and how it won't play at the highest level. Thing is, I remember some of the younger power bats from the Melvin years that were in the opposite camp---HR potential but high K rates with very few walks. My gut tells me an approach like Adams' can be adjusted/amended to work vs MLB pitching easier than the opposite. But I also think his name is going to come up quite a bit when the phones start to heat up so stay tuned I guess.

Point taken. Winning is what it's all about. I just hope Patrick won't be needed Monday or Tuesday. I guess I'd rather have him available & had one or two of the other "B list' relievers get the final 3 outs or 6 outs with what was a seven-run lead.
