  1. They have no backup INFs if he's hurt so I'm sure they'd make a roster move, and he played in the 9th inning last night. So for now, benched. I think there's some mental grinding going on in the FO right about now.
  2. Very nice!! I just think the other options aren't all that easy to decide upon because the only one playing well is Lara & I get why they are reluctant to pull that trigger. But they may have to. And Lockridge is reported to go out on a rehab 'soon'. Take care.
  3. That, and Henderson. It's not an ideal situation but I like how they've juggled the back few spots in the rotation given the health issues. Last night Gasser reminded me a little of his 2024 run. His maintaining that would be huge.
  4. Day game after night, I actually thought we'd see Sanchez catching. And he was an even bigger villain last night.
  5. No, I'm of the opinion that if they aren't doing (whatever) then it doesn't make a lot of sense to beat your head against the wall constantly complaining about it. I've agreed with plenty of their moves over the years, and disagreed with others. And sometimes I'm proven wrong. I think criticism is great if it's constructive. This place would be boring without it. No one is perfect. Not you, not me, and not Matt Arnold. Given the organization he leads I think he's been in the upper echelon though. Among GMs across baseball, where would you rank him? At the end of the day, Blake Perkins will no longer be here. None of us know when; I suspect it'll be relatively soon.
  6. "Everyone is like well we couldn't cut Blake Perkins." That's what you posted. And I responded by saying that no one said that. Please show me where someone did. And saying it's a 'hard difficult' decision as you put it isn't even close to the same thing as saying someone shouldn't be cut. There's a lot of options as to what they could do; people in this very thread have pointed some of them out. None of them are obvious. You yourself suggested two different options.
  7. Nothing I've posted in this thread defends the play of Blake Perkins or his deserving of a roster spot. If you stopped making that mistake I wouldn't need to respond.
  8. I know he's been out a LONG time, but he's soon to be 25 & I wonder if AAA is in Wagoner's immediate future if he continues to shine? He's gotten off to a terrific start.
  9. Thank you. I was going to allude to that but didn't want to start another raging inferno.
  10. Simple. The fact that he hasn't been brought up tells you he wouldn't play every day. Cuz if he would, he'd be here. You seem to think I can give you an explanation for something that isn't my call. The Brewers answered it by leaving him in Nashville. You want him to come up here & play regularly. They don't feel the time is right. He isn't sitting at age 21. You probably think they're morons for not wanting to do that. Me? I don't see him every day like the farm people do. I'll trust their call.
  11. Why would you pull this conversation when Perkins is let go? When did I say he wouldn't be? In fact I suggested the exact opposite in this very thread. "Not so fast he belongs"?? Again, maybe you're confusing me with someone else.
  12. IF he would play, sure. I'd actually like to see it. But I can understand why his PT would be part-time to sparse. If you look around MLB, guys at his level of development don't come up here unless they're going to play almost every day. And he wouldn't. And I understand why. If you disagree, cool.
  13. I'd go with Lara IF he was going to play regularly, but I don't think he would. Matos would need to have his contract purchased as he was outrighted. He WOULD be a RH bat. I'm actually surprised he went through waivers; he's only 24. That's why I wonder what the issue is with him.
  14. People who do this for a living & know much more about it than either of us disagree with your idea of how simple it is. You just proved it yourself. A few moments ago you wanted Black. Now it's Lara. At least this is more substantive than "He's terrible!!!!" It wasn't long ago when you said that Jake Bauers was "getting worse every day." I would suggest you trust the process & admit this FO knows more about what goes into these decisions than any of us.
  15. OK, let's review: Who cares what their (it's their, not they're) record is? I dunno, fans of the team? Nothing I said was even close to trying to explain why Blake Perkins & his .091 batting average (batting average isn't a great barometer, BTW) isn't a problem. It is. I've said much more negative than positive about him in these posts. It's about finding the right alternative and no, it isn't as simple as you make it out to be. Others in this thread have mentioned ideas. Many of them have merit, some more than others. Yours involves adding another LH bat who they don't trust at 1B or in the OF. And they HAVE a DH. Sure, question. Criticize. People on here do it all the time. Sometimes I'm even one of them. The best ones do it thoughtfully.
  16. I respect that, mainly because he HAS been terrible. I'm just fishing for alternatives. There's too much "He sucks, he can't play baseball", etc, etc, without other ideas, mainly because it's not easy to find them. If Lara was 25, fully developed & putting up this kind of season it would be a no-brainer. I'd love to see him here. At 21, having him mostly sit isn't something teams like to do---not just the Brewers. Williams is slumping, Baddoo isn't much better (and hits LH), Matos was passed on by everyone in MLB. I was fully on board with Perkins staying. Up until a couple weeks ago, he had very good numbers vs LHP. Now that's changed, and it looks like it's time. The funny thing is, I'm not defending him, I'm defending the FO for having to make a choice that isn't clear-cut.
  17. Perhaps sometimes you should listen to explanations, even if you don't agree with them. It promotes growth. People on here do it all the time. Thirty-seven and twenty-two, and you're questioning their ability to make decisions. OK, then.
  18. Like I said the other day, I wouldn't complain about that. I just think if they felt that way it would've happened by now--not so much re Perkins, but even when Lockridge went down. The 'fan' in me would be excited to see it. The GM has a lot of other considerations though. AFA the DFA is concerned, I now think there's a chance that could happen, if for no other reason than that he's personally had a terrible 12 months & it might be best for all.
  19. As I just mentioned, Williams played CF tonite. He's also 1 for his last 24. I think we'd be hard pressed to find a minor leaguer promoted for no other reason than "so-and-so sucks!!!" Nevertheless they might be thinking about it. Baddoo hasn't been much better in recent games, and hits LH (which is why Williams might be the better of the two choices even with the 1-24). We've been through Lara; I don't see him coming up here unless he plays purt'near every day. Matos, you look at the numbers & think maybe he's an option. But he was outrighted. It doesn't mean they can't purchase his contract but it DOES mean everyone else passed on him. That says something. If/when it happens I think Williams is the frontrunner, which is kind of unfortunate because he needs ABs & I don't know how many he'll get in Milwaukee.
  20. Apparently you didn't read my post. There was no defending of Blake Perkins & his recent play; quite the opposite. The last thing they need is another LHH 1B-OF on the roster. Black was here mainly because Vaughn wasn't, and even then it wasn't a great fit. He MIGHT work if Yelich could play LF, but that seems unlikely save for an emergency. They don't trust Black's glove (I know that's relatively unimportant to you). And you might not ever hear them say this, but I suspect they aren't real nuts about Chourio playing a lot of CF. They're down Lockridge, They have 3 LHH OFs on the roster if you count Yelich, four if you count Bauers (apparently you want to add a fifth) and as of about 3 weeks ago Blake Perkins had very solid #s hitting from the right side. That's gone way south, no doubt about it. Considering the roster makeup & the points I made earlier, I get them giving him a longer leash. It hasn't worked. Your 'one and only consideration' is moot, because there's more than just one. If you think this is a reason to not watch Brewers baseball & because of the way they run the organization they're "done", then I guess don't follow them. BTW, Jett Williams played CF tonite for Nashville which is significant; he's only been there a handful of times. This organization isn't asleep at the wheel. They just aren't as reactionary as the average fan board poster--and thank God for that.
  21. No spin. I've heard Murphy refer to many players in an affectionate way since he's been here. Does he show more affinity for someone who's struggling? Sure. There are 29 other managers in MLB who do the same thing. And like I said, if he's a 'loving daddy' he's a pretty piss-poor one since Perkins has been optioned twice. And when does Arnold even comment about his personal feelings regarding players? Perkins has been terrible, no doubt. Given the injury timeline (Lockridge), 40-man considerations (Lara), and defensive maneuvering/depth considerations, not to mention an OF on the roster who apparently can't be put in the OF, who in your opinion should be here instead of him? You might not believe this, but I was just as frustrated by the bunt attempt as you were. But take a little time to look at all the considerations & realize it's a little more complicated than 😫😫😫😫 HE SUCKS!!!! GET RID OF HIM!!!!😫😫😫
  22. Obviously a terrible effort on the bunt attempt. OTOH, for those looking to put all the blame on Perkins, the popped up bunt made no difference in the inning unless you think Rengifo is more aggressive at the plate & attacks. Although he really didn't get much of a chance to do so, and with 1B open it's even less likely. I think Ortiz vs Sanchez is a horse apiece, to be honest. My main issue strategy-wise is after the Turang hit w/one out, it took three pitches for the next two hitters to be retired. You probably needed to have Turang running with Contreras trying to shoot the hole behind him, or definitely send him in the Bauers AB. Also, you could've had Mitchell stay in for the bunt, but saying that now stinks of hindsight & there's way too much of that here after a loss. Gasser reminded me a little of his first five starts in the bigs. If this continues, you may have lost the battle today but won the war.
