  1. Don't disagree with that. Just find the taking sides thing has gotten somewhat out of control (not pointing at you).
  2. I'm confused. Your reply wasn't to me, Keithstone made the original comment. I'm actually agreeing with your assertion that it's silly to put "taking sides" over winning the game & pointing out that many seem to be guilty of that. Not insinuating you are.
  3. What he's done SHOULD cut down on the Ks. The intriguing thing is, it hasn't affected the power.
  4. Except Stearns can't fire him because he's too busy packing to go to NY.
  5. It's funny, but I've felt for a long time the Hiura backers feel that exact way about McCutchen, that they'd rather see him fail. This civil war seems more important than the results to way too many here.
  6. Wow....Hiura is pretty good when you bring him off the bench.? Seriously, his comment in the post game interview, wanting to direct the attention to Mitchell, says a lot about the kid. Well done.
  7. No doubt. Regardless of the splits Mitchell should get a run in CF. Also regardless of the splits I suspect we'll see TT next time a lefty is on the hill.
  8. If I see Taylor starting in CF vs a RHP in the near future I'll howl.
  9. With the time missed this season, while still high on Mitchell I figured we'd be waiting until '23 for his chance to make an impact. But he looks really comfortable right now, hope he continues the roll he got on in Nashville. And once again, Yelich ramps up the "tease meter". Stay tuned. Sixteen runs scored in the last 10 innings of offense (insert "but the pitching was really bad" comments here). And admittedly they haven't beaten Drysdale & Koufax the last two days, but they've made some pretty average pitchers look like them the last few months, so reason to look up. Now see if it leads to a surge.
  10. I mentioned this in other threads, but the 3-batter rule for pitchers & the addition of the DH hasn't done his managerial style any favors. It hasn't made him incompetent or anything but it blunted a part of his M.O. that I think gave him an edge.
  11. I also think Caratini is brought back but obviously you don't want him playing as often as he had to in the second half. Narvaez IMO was all but gone, but his struggles might put him in a price range they could consider. More likely I think they will look elsewhere. Feliciano impressed me in the very tiny sample he had with Milwaukee. However I think Monty is right in that they feel one more year at the 'Ville would be prudent. Can't wait for Quero.

  13. He has value due to the versatility. An occasional late-inning appearance, mop-up, middle innings, or in an emergency he can start & actually give you 3-4 innings. Plus he's left-handed. I didn't think he'd get dropped this season (Counsell just loves him) & figured he wasn't as bad as his numbers earlier this year, but never thought he'd rebound to put up the stats Jopal shared. Props to the guy.
  14. And even then. I mean, he's already survived the blatant attempt to sabotage the team by not playing Keston Hiura enough. (BLUE)?
  15. Josh certainly doesn't strike me as the type I'd wish anything bad on, but right now I'd rather see him fail than succeed chiefly because it would benefit Milwaukee in the playoff chase, partially due to some of the stuff he said upon arriving with SD, & partially because it counters the "what a terrible trade this was" crowd. Other than that, God bless 'im, & I hope everything is going aces with his wife & new baby. Per to edfunderburk's thoughts, I agree. I don't ever recall hoping a former Brewer does well with their new team, didn't see the point.
  16. Make it a three-way convo with Gabe Holt. If they can combine the plate discipline with Holts' ability keep his K's down to approximately one every blue moon you'll REALLY have something.
  17. Especially when you force someone to make a play & he can't. They put little to no pressure on the opposition, and that probably won't change anytime soon due to roster makeup/attitude. That's why it was so nice to see tonite.
  18. I keep telling myself re Yelich that he IS doing the job for the most part in the leadoff spot. I get the whole thing about the contract & how he's paid to do so much more, but there have been plenty of power hitters who "lose it" & are pretty much useless. At least he has the speed, the baserunning ability to give them something else.
  19. That's why the curve is so important for him, and why he's so effective when he throws it at the right times in the count. He did tick me off tonite though. The walk to Happ was the definition of nibbling. Matt, I don't care if he took you deep yesterday. You're up four runs, W/ 2 out and no one on base. Good grief.
  20. To me a big difference is they actually gave an opponent the opportunity to play shoddy defense. The bunt opened things up, then after the Yelich HR--well, if it's actually possible to see a baseball team exhale, we saw it tonight. Whether it has a lasting effect is anyones' guess.
  21. I think they've recognized that with some of the recent people they've added to the system, and how they're being used. As far as a more immediate remedy, I felt Urias did enough last season to roll with him this year as well. Obviously that didn't work out.
  22. He certainly doesn't fit the traditional 2-hitter profile & I'm not nuts about him hitting there. If Urias was "2021 Urias" he'd be an option. Wong has cooled off again, plus that's 2 LHH at the top which we apparently don't like to do. There's a guy playing in Durham tonite who would fit that spot pretty well.
  23. I'm not nuts about Wong starting vs a LHP but you're right; the best option tonight is busy playing in Durham. There's also this little thing called a glove, which becomes more vital when you're having trouble scoring runs & playing low scoring games.
