  1. Ford has done things to show that he has potential, but then he serves up a dong. Not good.
  2. Granted the 125 pitch mark is substantial, but this has been an abberation from previous starts, if my memory serves me correctly. If Ben throws more than 110 pitches on a regular basis I'd begin to be worried, but one 125 pitch performance SHOULD be ok. (emphasis on SHOULD). Like Peavey said, with the Bullpen as bad as it is these days we need every out we can muster in a one out game. Not condoning the 125 pitches, but not condeming either.
  3. I'm still not convinced that Keith Ginter is that much more deserving of playing 3b or 2b over Helms or Spivey. ***Sarcasm alert, Sarcasm Alert**** I just don't think he can cut it as a major leage everyday player, I mean the guy is already 28 and Houston didn't think enough of him to keep him so....He is the definition of a AAAA player. ***Sarcasm alert, Sarcasm alert****
  4. yeah, only one run today, but 6 walks? Too early to officially worry about JDLR but he is one the unofficial worry list.
  5. I can't wait for the posts that have Santos listed as out #4 starter for the next 3-4 years. You know what I am talking about...the one that says the rotation should be.... Sheets Capuano Saenz Santos Hendrickson for the rest of the year. If we could hold off on those, I'd be thrilled.
  6. 'Ring, Ring......Ring, Ring" "Ah, yes hello." "Good Morning Mr. Brewerfan, this is your wake up call" "Ah, dammit, ok, thanks"
  7. Still waiting for someone to post a picture of 'Thor' from Adventures in babysitting. He's a dead ringer for Craig Wilson. I did a google image search and got a picture but have no idea how to post it. Here is the link though.... images.google.com/images?...abysitting
  8. If Dan Kolb has to miss any extended time due to this leg injury we are screwed. Mike Adams??
  9. Wow this team is fun. But they'd be a hell of a lot more fun if we didnt give up 7-9 runs a game. Wes Helms need to sit tomorrow.
  10. 05/01/2004 - Pittsburgh (Benson) at Milwaukee (Sheets) I guess Ned doesn't trust anyone else but Sheets to pitch. Is Wes Helms going to be our only batter today as well? Maybe we can use ghost runners. I hope we can get to Benson earlty today.
  11. This franchise has been burned by too many past players...alas, we can never sign another player to another long term contract. Woe is we. look at it this way, we can always get Reggie Sanders to play RF next year!
  12. Carig Wilson and Jack Wilson... "the Dynamic Duo" "Mullet Man and Robin" Whatever...if Craig Wilson gets us, I can understand that, that guy can swing it...it just always drives me crazy when we are protecting a late lead and jack Wilson hits one his is 3 yearly HRs off of us. I also agree that this could be a letdown series but one thing I like about Ned Yost is that he can get these guys up, and keep them up, I hope. Unlike Lopes. Also, I think the key to the season is starting pitching. If Hendrickson can come up and have his AAA success translate into effective ML success, He, Sheets and Capuano hopefully could give our bullpens some rest. For tonights game, we need 7 from Ben again, if he can go out and go 7 giving up 2 runs each start, I really like our chances. that way the bullpen is limited to Burba, Vizcaino and Kolb, the three I have come to trust. I'd like to see Ford and Hernandez given one more chance each, and if they tank....off with their heads..or at least down to AAA to work things out...trade them for Wise and Michalak. Is Kinney done for if he stinks up the joint in Cincy next week? I hope he pitches well...(I hope every Brewer pitches well) but if we doesn't...he's gotta go.
  13. Taking this thread in another direction - do the pirates scare any of you guys? 'Cause they sure as heck-fire scare me. This is just about the time when we play a team like Pittsbugh and fall apart, get swept and the season falls apart. We survived the first 22 games vs. very good opponents, now it is time to make our hay against the like of the Pirates, Mets and Expos. The Pirates have had our number since we arrived in the NL, and Jack Wilson usually hits like Barry Bonds against us, if and Matheny ever are on the same team we are dead. I think we are much more talented than the Pirates, but we have to go out there and play like it. Remember when we were 38-34 in June of '01 after sweeping the Cubbies? We went into Pitt and they handed our asses to us. No Let Down!! Go out there are take these guys apart!
  14. This stupid thread is impossible to read. I give up.
  15. And again the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates take us down. Ned said after the game that both Keith Ginter and Bill hall were unavailable today because if they were to get more Plate Appearences there might be more pressure to start them.
  16. So now Durrington is the first guy off the bench? What the hell do ginter and hall have to do to get some more ABs?
  17. Re: Helms swinging so damn early in the count... He has been doing that all year. Can't butchy tell him to take a few? Also, I was almost screaming at the TV when, after Grieve was walked on 4 straight, Bennet comes out swinging at 2 in a row...both outside the zone.
  18. Believe it or not, for lack of better things to do mostly, I have been watching. I can't believe we have come back...I cannot believe more that we sent Hall with one out. He was out by a mile. It'd be a heck of a lot nicer if we were headed into the 9th with a lead. Cincy would be really demoralized if they came into the 9th down by a run. By getting that out at the plate, Cincy might actually have some momentum. shut them down, and stop walking batters. That is all I ask, stop walking batters.
  19. Maybe the Brewers can save some money by purchasing 3 tickets out-of-town at the same time. Kinney, Hernandez and Santos can all sit side by side on the plane to Indy.
  20. Best lineup we have featured so far. I hope Keith can get some hits and not embarass himself out there. Will he get taken out in the 7th or 8th for Brady Clark? I'd like to see keith become the almost every day RF.
  21. It'd be as bad as the time that guy from the Yankees, Andy Hawkins I think, threw a no-no and lost 4-0. The other team scored its runs via error, walk and sacrifices.
  22. Are the Brewers closer to a 10-10 team or are the Reds closer to a 12-7 team?? I'd say the Reds are playing over their heads and their pitching should come back down to Earth soon...but then again, the Brewers have been playing over their heads as well...even if it is just a little bit. How have the Reds been doing it? Has it been as simple as taking more walks than the pitchers are giving up?? I hope the Brewers can work some counts today and give themselves a chance to score a lot of runs. Cincy seems to have a decent lineup...but Casey seems to be playing way above expectations. I hope DD can silent the bats.
  23. Good to see Ginter hitting another HR...should get him about 2 more weeks on the bench.
