  1. I wonder if this will have any influence on Chris' power 50 slot?
  2. isnt that the 2nd DH that has been rained out? Man, April sucks without a roof...
  3. Kiesch - I take back all the bad things I said about you and your pitching ability...as long as you keep coming up clutch I will hold a spot in my heart for you!!! 9-9 BABY!!
  4. Grieve not making contact to get Overbay over is just bad, bad baseball. All you have to do is pull a ball, on the ground even, and your job is done. There is no excuse for that. Grieve is beginnning to fall out of my good graces. Ginter should start in RF and Grieve should maybe play out ther 3 days a week, with Keith moving to 3b the other times.
  5. Gamecast shows that he hit for Helms. Im still trying to figure out the thinking he used to leave Obermueller in there after the HR
  6. So, Ned, let me ask you this. The inning goes triple, single, double, HR and the score is tied.....and you leave Obie in...for another double...wasnt the bomb hit by Bautista enough to get him out of there??
  7. Wow, Obermueller collapsed in the blink of an eye..5-5
  8. ALL POINTS BULLETIN FOR KEITH GINTER- He is MIA once again!!! What else do you have to do when you hit .400 this year, lead the league in HRs as a rookie the year before, and in general just mash the ball almost everytime up? Is Clark better than Ginter? Can Grieve play better defense in RF and hit better? Why not RF?
  9. So, can we expect to see Ginter taking his usual seat next to Ned Yost tomorrow? 10-4 Brewers, Keith with a double and an HR this inning.
  10. 8-4, and this game ist still far from over but...here is a rule I HATE - Ben Ford comes into the game with a two run lead, BLOWS it BIG TIME for Doug Davis, and then Milwaukee scores 6 more in the bottom half and now Ben Ford is in line for a W if we can hold on. WHAT A STUPID RULE!! Doug Davis pitches extremely well for 5 + innings and Ben Ford comes in from the bullpen, douses the infield with gasoline and proceeds to flick lit matches all over the place, and he gets the win. Stupid. New rule - If a RP comes into a game with a lead and gives up the lead, and his team re-takes the lead the next inning, the starting pitcher he relieves should be credited with the win.
  11. Yeah!! And now he walks Randy Johnson - Ben Ford you suck!
  12. WOW!! Way to go Ben ford!!! One Pitch and POOF the lead is gone.
  13. DD had thrown 49 pitches after 5 innings, not bad. Now, he has to work carefully through the seventh.
  14. re: 420 I think this all just started as a joke. Not ever having actually smoked marijuana in my life, I still thought some of the posts were pretty funny, as you would have to be living in a cave to be 26 and not be familiar with the "lingo". That said, when the question of the origin of 420 came up, I was curious as to where it came from and did a little research and I posted it - get over it. Nobody here is endorsing it, in fact, I would guess that MOST of the people that chimed in on this thread - like myself -have never even touched the stuff. Anyway - on to baseball. I hope Sheets' back is up for at least 7 innings today, and I'd love to see him take a page out of the Tim Hudson 92 pitch Complete game book.
  15. I believe that the date 4/20 was when pot was made illegal in the United States by some sort of legislation. Not sure what year, but I think that is where it came from. EDIT - I was way off. Marijuana was made illegal on 8/20/1937. I did however stumble onto this bit of information.... THE ORIGIN OF "420" A recent discussion on our Parenting Advice and Support Forum, had this Guide in puzzlement. I had reported years ago that the term 420(pronounced four twenty, not four hundred and twenty), was police code for smoking marijuana in a feature on pager codes that teenagers use to "talk" to each other. I began researching the number again and it seems I was wrong. Read on to learn the myths, the truth about the origin and what this term means for parents. Known Myths Police dispatch code for smoking pot is 420. The number 420 is not police radio code for anything, anywhere. Checks of criminal codes suggest that the origin is neither Californian nor federal. For instance, California Penal Code 420 defines as a misdemeanor the hindrance of use of public lands. There are approximately 420 active chemicals in marijuana. Actually, there are approximately 315 active chemicals in marijuana. This number goes up and down depending on which plant is used. April 20th is National Pot Smokers Day. Well, it is now; but that wasn't the origin. April 20th is Hitler's birthday. Yes, it is his birthday. But, as 420 started out as a time, not a date, his birthday had nothing to do with it. The date of the Columbine school shootings. This happened after the term was already in use. 4:20 is tea time for pot-smokers in Holland. Tea time in Holland is at 5:30 pm, or is it 2:30 pm? Seems no one is quite sure when the wonderful people of Holland drink their tea. The Origin Revealed According to Steven Hager, editor of High Times, the term 420 originated at San Rafael High School, in 1971, among a group of about a dozen pot-smoking wiseacres who called themselves the Waldos, who are now pushing 50. The term was shorthand for the time of day the group would meet, at the campus statue of Louis Pasteur, to smoke pot. Intent on developing their own discreet language, they made 420 code for a time to get high, and its use spread among members of an entire generation. While our teens feel that they know something we don't, you can let them in on the fact that it was your generation that came up with the numbers. A quote from one of the Waldos in the High Times article states, "We did discover we could talk about getting high in front of our parents without them knowing by using the phrase 420." Fortunately, your teenagers will not have that same option. Whatever! Simply put, 420 is a symbol of cannabis and its culture. Today, April 20th events are international, and 4:20 pm has become sort of a world wide "burn time". It certainly doesn't matter too much where the term came from because for us parents, it's a flag, a warning sign that our teenagers may be into something that could harm their future. When you see the symbol 420, be aware of what it represents
  16. I am not a HUGE minor league guy, but I feel like I know the Brewer farm hands pretty well, and for the second consecutive year (at least) HD is void of any real talent. Some of those guys I recognize, Crabbe, Bibbs, Hinton but man...that is a rough looking squad. Good Luck to them this year...I hope someone makes a name for himeself. Great to see Dave and JJ spark a win in Indy!
  17. I like what I am seeing from Hart and Nelson. But about either one of them being close to being ready for the Majors, I don't see it. Corey Hart, yeah he is the closer of the two, but like Al said, he needs to take a walk (well, if he keeps going 2-4 every game he doesnt). I think Hart will be ready for the Big Leagues next year, but a full year in AAA will do him well. A September call-up would be wonderful if he earns it. Nelson - he may be the real deal - yes, but he needs a full year in AA to be fully evaluated. If he tears it up there this year he can start in AAA next year with an eye on Milwaukee in 2005 or 06. Also, someone said something about Krynzel being close as well. Well, one good game and you cannot promote the guy, his biggest problem has been consistency. If he can keep it up all year he might be able to fight hart for the 3rd OF spot next year, but he still has a lot of work to do - like cuttingdown on the Ks and being more successful stealing. If he can do that, I welcome him to Milwaukee.
  18. this is just great...looks like Capuano is hurt. Wes Obermueller is in, so we don't lose to much on the short term...but if Capuano is really hurt it could be disastorous ini the long term...don't forget Sheets is hurt too.
  19. with the lineup we are throwing out there today, we might as well call it a loss and get on the plane early..why even waste our time? I'm sure the guys would appreciate getting back to Milwaukee a bit earlier today. My guess, Astros 4 Brewers 0. We scrape out a hit in the 5th, and thats about it.
  20. Franklin, Kinney, they both stink, and neither one should be in a MLB starting rotation. It is time to show the other one the door Melvin!! As for Burba, keep him in the pen. He has had success there, no need to change things up. If we do not need a 5th starter for awhile, who gets skipped. Obie or Kinney?
  21. Doug will be fine. Just gotta get a bunch of runs on the board. These two statements are in direct contrast of one another. Not a lot of confidence in 'ole DD, huh clancy? Doug Will be fine....just gotta get a bunch of runs on the board. Classic. By making one of those statements, you cannot logically write the other. How about either Doug will get bombed...just gotta get a bunch of runs on the board or Doung will be fine...our offense just needs to scratch out a couple of runs tonight. I am leaning toward the former.
  22. brewcrew - that link you posted does look a lot like David Weathers.
  23. RoCo - I noticed the same thing - right away when he started with us in 2001. He always bent his back, backwards, as if he just got out of the car after a 15 hour road trip. By the way, sportsline says Ben left with Elbow injury. The radio is saying back stiffness....and Mark Prior only has a sore achilles....take it for what it is worth from Brewer management
  24. Yost is still learning how to manage. I think he is the best guy for the job in Milwaukee and hopefully he will be around for a while longer. I'd much rather have him make the wrong decisions this year and learn from them than make them someday when we really have a chance to compete for the post season. I think by walking Bonds today, he is already proving that he is learning something.
