  1. We need 9 more teams. Someone take the Pirates, you cant screw up at 11!
  2. I have been debating that in my mind, it is up to you I suppose. This is mostly are redraft based on the talent from the 2005 draft so I dont know how much having Cabrera changes things for Detroit. Who knows who will be available at 11, but I would imagine no matter who it is that one could make room for them. So with that, I suppose draft it how you want, if you want to take their current roster into consideration, do it. I probably will with Milwaukee's selection. But again, this is mostly based upon talent, so if you had the choice between say, a good MR that could help your 2008 bullpen and a guy like Chase Headley, I would think Headley would still be the pick based upon his career so far and this potential as a AAA prospect, even if he might not help much in 2008, but would presumably in 2009. Make sense?
  3. This is based on right now. We have the benefit of seeing how these players have developed as well as how the rest of the team has developed.
  4. remember, unless you take Zimmerman, then they dont have Zimmerman...so maybe they do have a need.
  5. In order, so we have to wait until we have all the teams taken. Who is next?!
  6. To address the four posts above... 1. Where Gamel projects is irrelevant really, at least for this trade 2. Going from our top prospect in La Porta to a non-prospect in Gwynn wouldnt make sense IMO 3 and 4. Either we are going to make a run at it or we are not. If we are, this is the type of deal that needs to happen, again, IMO. Hall wants our, Villanueva is decent but may not ever stick in the rotation. LaPorta is a lot to give up but we cant just trade junk for Cy Young award winners either.
  7. That would be hilarious but no. Do you still want the Cubs?
  8. pick as though they do not have Gordon.
  9. Nah, lets wait...think about it a little harder. Somehow Fernando Vina from Baseball tonight took Jacoby Ellsbury #1 overall - Dont make the same mistake.
  10. I saw this on Baseball Tonight the other night, but they only did the top 3 picks, but with all the talent in that draft it would be tons of fun. Let's do it using both what we know now about the players as well as what the teams need today (if that makes sense). For example, you may want to do a BPA, but your team needs a SS and so you take Tulowitzki ahead of someone who you project as higher. I would strongly recommend using this link as a resource, if you are interested in playing along. You are not limited to selecting players who were drafted in the first round, for example, Yunel Escobar was picked #75, and I am sure he'll appear somewhere in the top 30. Below is the draft order 1-30. Not all the teams are represented due to draft compensation rules, and some teams have more than 1 pick. I have deleted their school info and compensation info to clean it up a bit. Once each team is chosen I will enter your BF.net handle after the player name that the team orginally drafted, and then who you draft in BOLD after that. Make sense? Great. Since this is my game, I get the Brewers...Who else is in? 11. As far as half year rentals go, this is probably a pretty fair deal as LaPorta is light years better than anything they could get in the supplemental rounds. Do it now and we get 2 added months of CC in the rotation and two late first round/Supp picks to replenish system. I figure Gamel is probably headed to the OF and/or 1b when Fielder leaves anyway and there isnt a TON of room for LaPorta. Hall becomes a super sub under contract for a few more years and Villanueva should be an adequate addition to their rotation. Marte is added for depth for this year as his star seems to have faded quite a bit. If he couldnt be included it wouldnt be a deal breaker, but as we know, Doug is a nugget miner.
  12. Wow, so that is what a team with a functional offense looks like.
  13. At this point he cant be much different than McClung.
  14. I hope you are kidding about the steroids and HGH since they have been testing for a few years now.
  15. The more I think about it the more it is probably mechanics. When I was in high school I could hit a driver in golf 250 yards, straight as an arrow. I dont play much any more, about 1-2 times a year and I can barely hit the driver 200 yards. I know it is because my swing mechanics are screwy but I dont care enough to change anything about it. Im certainly stronger than I was 12-15 years ago but cant hit the ball as far. I also dont think anyone expected Prince to hit 50 again this year, or any year. I think people were tempering their expectations to Prince being a 40 a year HR guy so long as he was a Brewer. To have gone to a 25-30 HR guy just doesnt make a lot of sense.
  16. Maybe if we stop talking about whether or not his slump has to do with him eating meat then this thread will be worthwhile. the thread should be about the power outage and what it means for him, the team and can he get the grove back this season. He looks more like Princess Fielder to me this year. We'll never be able to prove or disprove if it has to do with meat or no meat so why waste time talking about it. It is probably a combination of mechanics and being pitched around.

  19. The only thing that can describe how Russell's arrival makes me feel.
  20. ok, it just did it. middleo of the bottom of the sixth.
  21. I didnt back read entirely, but have people noticed that in the middle of innings they will go to a commercial and then after like one commerical come back to the game? I think it is with WMLW broadcasts on FSN. I remember missing a Braun HR recently due to this. Why does this happen?
  22. I believe it will be.
  23. Waterfest draws decent crowds for an every Thursday night event. The new Amphitheater is fantastic. It is a good time. As far as the new album goes, I havent had a chance to hear it yet, how is it?
  24. You are probably right now that I think about it. Keep up the good work Al.
  25. I think I read that Weeks' BABIP is about .209, which is extremely low.
