  1. I dont know if he knows it or not, but what Yost has essentially said is that Rickie isn't underachieving but rather playing at this true level of ability. I mean, if he isn't underachieving then he is pretty much just a crappy hitter.
  2. I love Marmol as the closer. Before there was the threat that he could come in at anytime and shut down a rally. Now we can rally away until the 9th inning.
  3. Leadership? Non tangible and likely overrated. Defense - There may not be many guys worse than Durham in the league at 2b, including Weeks. He has no range to speak of. Pinch Running - The reason his range stinks is partially because his legs are shot. He isnt Dave Roberts circa 2004. He was had for one reason and one reason only, because he can swing it and Weeks has stunk all year long in the leadoff spot.
  4. I wouldn't mind throwing in Weeks with Salome, Nelson and Ford for Cain and Durham, that might make Sabean look better http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif That is what I was thinking: Weeks, Nelson, Salome, Ford to the Giants Cain, Durham and Taschner to the Brewers I'd pee my pants if we got that. Weeks is probably too young for Sabean anyway.
  5. I didnt mean to imply you couldnt handle an urban campus, or that one wasnt a good experience, but in the post I quoted you said the only thing you were worried about was school size and that some of the campus is pretty urban. It took that to mean that you would prefer it NOT to be urban, and with Marquette in the middle of the city, it is all urban and even more so than any part of Madison's campus. If you can get into Madison, it should be a no-brainer.
  6. Did you happen to be eating at Memorial Union around 1:00 with a Ryan Braun jersey t-shirt on? If so, sorry I didn't wave. I haven't yet overcome the fear of asking if someone's a poster and getting a blank stare. Yeah, it was me. How'd you guess? The Brewer jersey do it for you or what? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I really liked Madison, unless Marquette is really awesome, I think it would be hard to not go to Madison if accepted. The draw watching Big Ten athletics is pretty cool. The only thing I'd be even worried about at all is the size and the fact that some of the campus is pretty urban. I live in a very rural area and go to a High School in a town of 2,000, but that isn't that big of a deal for me. lol...you think part of Madison's campus is urban?? Marquette is in or at least very near some rougher neighborhoods in Milwaukee and very much in the heart of the city.
  7. But wouldn't 6-2 odds really be 3-1 odds? Sounds like a failure all the way around.
  8. in the Twins defense, he was awful for them in April.
  9. Who is your advisor? I was a pol sci major at UW-L. And if I had to rank the OP's choices I would go: Madison La Crosse Eau Claire Marquette
  10. Hey sam, that all-time Milwaukee baseball roster (Braves + Brewers) is starting to look pretty sweet with some of the additions to the team this season. Let me know if you ever take on that project, I'd be interested in the roster set.
  11. When I take my kids we sit behind the screen, always.
  12. Just pretend they dont come out until next week. Then you'll be happy when you get it early!
  13. I wonder if we can make it even a better idea.... How about a Brewerfan.net all-day EVENT. Golf in the morning --> Miller park for Tailgate --> into the game for a 6:05 Saturday night game. Just a thought.
  14. That's a good idea. Maybe Brian could use it to raise some money for the cost of the site.
  15. The Sandlot should be on every 10 year old's summer move list.
  16. This is spot on and I would recommend UW-L at this point, as you have the grades to get in there (it is pretty competitive these days) and it isnt too late to apply. I was at UW-L from 9/96-12/00 and I really enjoyed it. I toured Marquette, Oshkosh (where I am from), Parkside and La Crosse. UW-L was far away the best fit. It allows you get around well without a car at all as you can walk to downtown and there is a grocery store right off of campus as well as a few restaurants. The school is top notch academically as well. For quality education + price + stuff to do outside of campus UW-L is where you need to go.
  17. Id classify a win that got away as a 3+ lead with 6 or fewer outs to get. Presumably at that point you have your best relievers and unlike early in a game, can play for outs instead of worrying about runners.
  18. Ah, women...till property of men in the 21st century. I dont mean to give you grief, but best of luck. What would you do if he says no?
  19. I watched a bunch more you tube whiffle videos. The one where they build the park and the dad is on the couch is pretty awesome. I want to build one of those for my kid when he gets older.
  20. Nobody goes 1-19 in major league baseball. This is a sign that we should DFA Branyan and certainly stop playing him against right handed pitchers.
  21. In this thread, Arizona makes the playoffs. If one thing is certain here at BF.net, it is that when one person sets up a hypothetical, rather than addressing said hypothetical, BF.net posters say that the hypothetical will never happen, or hasnt happened, or cant happen. That is why it is called a hypothetical people. You either play along or you dont play at all. Lets try another one. You can either by stuck on a deserted island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with a - A never ending fountain of beer and a tree that grows pepperoni pizza; or b - Jessica Alba (or insert favorite female celeb here) you see here, instead of saying that neither of these would ever happen, you instead try to determine which scenario you would prefer. Getting back to the above scenario, I think I would also have to take my chances with Arizona at home. Webb and Haren scare me, but so does Philly's offense and the thought of an NLCS on the road against Chicago.
  22. Oh my God that was awesome.
  23. So does this mean that we cant talk about the playoffs until we have it clinched? I thought it was legitimate since Arizona is the worse team with the better 1-2 pitching punch and Philly throws a left hander which the Brewers usually do better with.. Maybe I will repost the thread in September assuming we are still doing as well as we are now.
  24. In the hypothetical, we have already made the playoffs. You didnt answer the question posed however. If your answer is "I dont care" then why bother with the thread?
