  1. Manny Parra and your 2.00 WHIP, I am not impressed.
  2. I second avoiding the Home Depot/Lowe's store. I just got an estimate from them for a small fencing project that I figured I could do myself for $350, and they gave me an estimate for $1400.
  3. I love it. I often eat breakfast foods for lunch or dinner.
  4. Didnt someone post a stat last year that Turnbow was the worst with zero days rest and more than 5 days rest? With 2-3-4 days rest he was great.
  5. Yost always goes off of a 2 foot tall half man-half pig creature that lives beneath the home dugout. It is one explanation as to why our road record has been so lousy. The pig man doesnt travel with the team. This is true, I have seen him.
  6. I cant see how anyone can complain with the teams record the way they have hit so far. Even in the games Gagne has blown the save in we are 2-1. If/When Braun and Fielder heat up, and when/if Weeks peaks his head above .200 the team has the potential to really take off. Plus it was nice to keep up with the Cards and Cubs considering those two teams have played slightly easier schedules thus far.
  7. I agree with logan. That said, man it would suck if you decided you were ready to be a father in a year or so, and you just kicked this wonderful woman to the curb. If you dont want to have kids, then you never should have dated her. If you do want to have kids, and you are 27 and presumably done with school and have a good job, then what are you waiting for? As guys, we cant screw off forever.
  8. The only risk I see here is if Longoria turns into Rocco Baldelli...like, tomorrow.
  9. I think Cecil was out of baseball by the time he was 34, yep it was his last year. Mo Vaughn lasted until he was 35, but he was just an average 1b from age 31-34. He stopped being a stud his last year in Boston, at age 30.
  10. Or the true ace of the staff, Capuano could make a start. Right?
  11. The Rays give up nothing in this deal. If he flames out and becomes Morgan Ensberg he could expect to make what he just signed for in arbitration. From what I have heard/read, the Union is none to happy about this deal. Rays were very smart to pull this one off.
  12. Safe to assume that Kapler is still unavailable?
  13. Rotoworld is reporting that Yost has made the switch to Hart 5h and Hall 6th, forgive me if this is old news. Brewers manager Ned Yost has moved Corey Hart up to the fifth spot in the lineup, bumping Bill Hall to the six hole. Hart hit in the fifth spot with Hall getting a day off yesterday, and Prince Fielder hit his first homer of the year. He probably offers better protection for Fielder, as he is hitting almost 100 points better than Hall, and has been a little more selective at the plate. Source: Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
  14. but look where that season went. nowhere. you can say that about all the seasons we have had except one. If that is the criteria, then pick a HR from 1982.
  15. You're assuming teams are pricing risk correctly. Given that they have problems pricing veteran talent, I have my doubts. From the article on ESPN.. If Longoria is simply as good as JJ Hardy, which shouldnt be too hard, paying him500k 550k 950k 2.5 mil 4.5 mil 6 mil 7.5 mil (option first FA year) 11 mil (option) 11.5 mil (option) 14 mil (option) ...is a good deal. Considering Ryan Howard just got 10 million in his first year of arbitration and that Longoria is expected to hit like Ryan Braun, I'd say that the Rays have done well for themselves. I'd say the Rays have judged this talent pretty well.
  16. I agree with our rluz, on the who cares thing. It is simple risk v. Reward for both parties. I actually do think these contracts make sense, especially when it may buy out 2 years of FA.
  17. But for what purpose? So they dont tick off Maryvale? The fans at BF.net?
  18. What I legitimately wonder is why this is all so hush-hush if it is true. It isn't like the Sonics leaving for OK City.
  19. yeah but baseball players dont hold out. He can whine, but teams likely will not renegotiate unless he has an out clause.
  20. Inflation is crazy, I agree. The nature of baseball and its limited supply and high demand is that salaries can really only hold steady (like they did for a few years around 2004-2005), they wont go down. In 6 years someone like Jenkins, if they were free agents could expect to get 10 million a year, and Jeff Suppan would be worth more like 16 million. Look what a crappy year from Andruw Jones got him, almost 19 million a year. Crappy players like Juan Pierre are gettin 10-11 million already. everything is only going to go up. Ticket Prices, concessions, TV deals, licensing deals, cost of MLB Extra innings, player salaries. In a few years, Gallardo will be a free agent, he'll say if Barry Zito is worth 18 million a year, Im worth 25...that is the economics of baseball.
  21. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines.aspx?sport=MLB&hl=234621 The St. Petersburg Times reports that the Rays have signed Evan Longoria to a long-term deal. It only took six games and 20 at-bats. The team is expected to announce the signing at a 1 p.m. press conference. Longoria wasn't eligible for free agency until 2014, and the contract likely takes him through then with a club option on his first year or two of free agency. He projects to be one of the league's better third basemen, and the deal should protect the Rays against rapidly inflating salaries come arbitration time. Apr. 18 - 12:11 pm et Source: St Petersburg Times It is reported that with team options it could be up to a 9 year deal, very Carl Crawford like.
  22. When can we expect an announcement? And when would this be effective? Next spring already?
  23. I wonder if his pants are on fire.
  24. Prince hits his first HR and it scores the George Webb's Burger Run...Irony?
