No. That just isnt how things work these days. If I could pick two out of Hart, Hardy, Weeks, Fielder and Braun it would be Hart and Braun. I think they have the best longterm potential, with Weeks coming in third. Fielder will be great, but I wouldnt want to give him a 5-6 year deal when he is 28 years old, playing in the NL.

Where were all the people who were saying that Rodney Harrison's career is going right down the drain after he was suspended 4 games for HGH. The thing I dont understand with fans is the general malaise towards football players being suspended left and right for drug use (Merriman, Harrison, Peppers) while the accusation that a baseball player taking drugs is the worst thing in the world. Seems a little bit of a double standard to me.

There is a chance guys like Fielder and Braun will stay one extra year if we can buy out a year of FA for a year of prearbitration time. I know Boras thinks that nothing bad will ever happen to any of this players (and therefore advises them to not sign extensions or long term contracts until on the open market) but Braun and Fielder would be crazy to play for 400k in their 3rd year when they could get millions.

Hey what is the standard shipping time for Netflix movies? I joined Monday, they shipped Tuesday and it was estimated to arrive yesterday. I still havent gotten it. I was under the impression it would be two days, max. What is the usual wait time like? I live in Oshkosh.

Cool, I'll put it on my list. As it kept popping up as a recommended choice based on other movies I have seen and liked.

Thanks Kat! I'll look for it later this week.

Well, If I see half of those, Ill be surprised. If I can do one a week I'd be thrilled.

I ver much enjoy foreign films such as: Amores Perros, The Princess and the Warrior, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Talk To Her, Maria Full of Grace I just put Volver on my Netflix que, thought about Pan's Labrynth, but didnt want two foreign movies right away. Other movies I have seen lately and liked were The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine, probably couldnt be more different. Genres I dont like at all would be Horror, Sci-Fi, movies like 300 look pretty bad to me, so does all that "Saw" garbage. Movies like Ghost Rider, or actually anything that Niclolas Cage has done since Leaving Las Vegas, big blow them up movies I dont like. I generally like good spy movies, like The Good Shepard, but thought it was slow and very dry. Didnt like it at all. I have been rating movies on Netflix for the past 10 minutes. Movies at the top of the list and not mentioned above are Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind Good Will Hunting Pulp Fiction Sideways Adaptation Big Fish Chicago Chocolat Donnie Brasco In the Bedroom Mystic River Snatch Trainspotting Right now my Queue is Stranger Than Fiction, Volver and Blood Diamond.

I have kinda-sorta been out of the movie loop the past 3 years. Between finishing school and having two children, 3 and 1, my movie time was about the first to go. The last thing I saw was "The Good Shepard" and I thought it was pretty bad. When it comes to the theaters it gets hard to remember the last time I was at one, at least with my wife (I recently saw Shrek The Third with my daughter). Let's see, I saw "Walk The Line" a while ago...and there has to have been something more recent than that.... Anyway, I'm about to sign up for Netflix to try to get back on the horse now that life has settled down a bit. Anything good come out the last 4 years that I should see? Oh, and is Netflix good?

Thanks Reed, just trying to give you a run for your money. And I didnt notice that about 2008. Not sure why the 2 wasnt upside down (the 008 might as well be, you wouldnt be able to tell anyway).

What did Joe Torre do before going to New York, or Bobby Cox before going to Atlanta.

I'm taking Glenn Braggs. Check the avatar. Lots of promise, excitement, talk of taking things to the next level...nothing but disappointment.

This offseason is the perfect time to extend Sheets. We could get him for a discount, and I dounbt he'd want to roll the dice on staying healthy the entire 2008 season to get a big contract. If he gets hurt again in 2008 and goes out as a FA, he could get lowballed. Im thinking 5 years 60 million as a starting point, making sure to point out what we got out of him from our last contract....

How do you suppose we get rid of Suppan? The rotation next year is almost set in stone. Here is what I would do with it. 1. Sheets2. Gallardo 3. Bush 4. Suppan 5. Villanueva 6. Parra 7. Journeyman Long reliever (like Burba was) Trade Capuano for a power hitting leftfielder. With the way HRs have fallen off this past year, I dont know that a "power hitting" left fielder looks like, but we need one. The other thing we could do is move Hall to LF and sign Andruw Jones. But we dont have 150 million to send over the Andruw, and the Yankees do, so scrap that. Id sign Bobby Abreu if he is on the market. We are desperate for guys who get on base. we need to upgrade the defense and OBP. We can also trade Vargas and Weeks for an upgrade somewhere, maybe 2b, maybe the outfield.

Young major league players who hit it HARD on the road. The Brewers need to have a curfew. I've heard other former major league players admit that this was the biggest reason road teams suffered. They are usually up all night chasing tail and just loitering around town. When you have a wife/family to go home to after a home game, you go home. When you get 25 young guys on the road together in their own hotel rooms with nobody to answer to, lots of money and a little fame sprinkled in there, you have the recipe for not a lot of sleep at night.
