  1. I know Colorado (along with other teams) have done a bring your dog to the park night in the past. Perhaps that was what was going on last night. That would explain why Vargas was on the mound.
  2. Ive been living with just 3 channels (fox, abc, nbc) for a year now and dont miss the cable at all. The internet is another story.
  3. I went with RonMexicoKennelClub. I thought it was pretty clever.
  4. 1. I agree, and I think his option is for 9.5 million. I'd take him back though for a 2 year, 6 million dollar deal. 2. Agree, but probably not Cordero. I think a team could sign Linebrink for 3 years, 18 million or so. I would NOT give a RP 9-10 million a year. 3. I totally 100% agree. 5 years 65 million. Trade #1. You are extremely undervaluing starting pitching, especially arby-SP. Capuano alone is probably worth Granderson, either way, I wouldnt make that deal. Trade #2. Again, undervaluing what a good SP is worth, and Dave Bush is an above average SP and is under our control for 3 more years. JC Romero is junk, I dont see how or why we need Bourn. A bad deal, Id pass. 4. I like Byrnes, but not as a corner OF. He'll be overpaid and is on the wrong side of 30, with the way he plays his body is likely to break down a la Johnny Damon and Jim Edmonds, no thanks. 5. I think Estrada has one more year of arbitration, so yeah, resign him for a one year deal. My 2008 team would be. 1. Hart RF 2. FA 2b 3. Braun 3b 4. Fielder 1b 5. FA Left Fielder 6. Hall CF 7. Estrada C 8. Hardy SS Rotation: Sheets Gallardo Capuano Bush Suppan I think if you want to trade a SP it should be Vargas, as his W/L total is likely to not reflect his true ability and will inflate his value. After tge 2008 season you trade Capuano. Also we should call the Pirates to see if they'll take Suppan (hey, its worth a try). Bench = Weeks, Counsell, Gwynn, Gross, FA C
  5. brooklyn you honestly think the team will go 20-34 the rest of the way home? Im not optimistic about a playoff bid either, but I think they are likely to still finish 4-6 games above .500.
  6. Playoff expectations were raised when we were 14 games over .500 after 5 weeks and pretty much all we had to do was play .500 baseball from then on out to probably make the playoffs. Unfortunately we havent been capable of that. Are we 5-6 games better than .500 the rest of the way home? I dont know, I havent been watching a better than .500 team play in a few months, maybe they'll reappear, but I am not holding my breath. My prediction will be 84 wins.
  7. I'm not throwing in the towel as much as I am looking at reality. The Brewers started off 24-10. Since then they are 34-40. So what team are they really? That team that played ridiculously well for 5 weeks or the team that has been below average in a below average division for 3 months? I'd guess the Brewers will play about .500 baseball the rest of the way out and the Cubs will win the division by 3-4 games. This team as a whole just hasnt been inspiring at all since about May 10th.
  8. This entire thing is crazy. Hey, more emoticons. Cool. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/ohwell.gif
  9. Yeah, so, neither is that annoying chick from The Sopranos.
  10. That annoying chick from The Sopranos.
  11. Never in a million years.
  12. But staying up till the early hours of the morning is part of the fun. Plus, who doesnt love to see a guy traded mid-game. Heck, even mid at-bat!!!
  13. Ok, quoting myself (I know, lame) I can see how it helps with the SP, more bullpen depth = less having to rely on Suppan and Vargas making out of the 6th inning. I still think we need a bat.
  14. Acquiring Gagne helps us how? Our Starting Pitchers cant make it past the 5th inning and half the offense has stunk since mid June. And at what cost? id be fine with the proposed deal that Toby mentioned, but not if it is going to cost us bullpen arms for next year (PArra, Villy, Turnbow). Gwynn, Aquino and ZackJack would be great, but I dont see that being very appealing to anybody. Finally, getting Gagne just makes the Linebrink trade (a trade I was fine with, btw) look a little more ridiculous.
  15. I never knew that PJs "MFC" was mini fast car.
  16. I agree, that is a good point. I mean, this is about as good a Law School Crim Law question you could find for a final exam.
  17. yeah, actually, what gave it away? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. How do we know if they were flying dangerously? This could have just been a tragic accident - one that could have been prevented had the guy on the ground not started a high speed police chase. Like I said, it is a very interesting fact pattern.
  19. Well, the first thing I thought when I heard this was if the guy leading the chase could be charged with, what in Wisconsin is called "Felony Murder" That is, anytime someone dies as a result of you committing a Felony, you can be charged with murder. The typical example is two guys rob a convenience store. the clerk blasts on of them away, the other escapes. The guy who escaped is charged with his friend's death (assuming the force the clerk used was reasonable). This also happens in car chases on the ground, guy speeding off from a robbery, cops chasing him, someone on the road is hit. THat is probably Felony Murder too. this now is just applied to the air. A police HC, three or 4 news HCs in the air, following the incident, they collide. 4 dead and it was caused (indirectly as it may be) by the chase that this bozo was leading them on. What if this were two police HCs? Seems like we're splitting hairs. Anytime you lead the police on a high speed chase you are putting others at risk and sometimes there are consequences for those actions. It's an interesting case.

  21. Sure why not, what have you got to lose.
  22. Or we could stop acting like Inman has mastered all minor league levels and was going to be in the rotation sometime this decade. Next year Inman starts in AA, in 2009 he starts in AAA, perhaps a callup. If he makes it that far, he is a #3-#5 starter in 2010.
  23. Inman is only the top prospect because Gallardo, Parra, Braun, and Hart have all been promoted.
  24. Linebrink can throw 30 innings of no hit ball and it may not matter with the way the offense has been playing. (or how Yost sits guys like it's little league).
  25. What the H-E double hockey sticks was that?
