  1. Looking forward for the Royals being able to compete again, but not before the Brewers do.
  2. Weeks isnt arby eligible, it may reflect his rookie contract. I think he got a couple million over a few years.
  3. Assuming he is available, healthy, and the Yankees are willing to eat at least 1/2 his remaining contract, do you think he'd be a guy who could come in and stabilize the back end of the rotation? I wonder what we'd have to give up the get him.
  4. If he is a career .828 OPS guy then he should be paid right along the lines of other career .830 guys, namely Alfonso Soriano and Carlos Lee. The Market is crazy. Apparantly 40 OPS points make a guy go from making peanuts to 15+ million a year.
  5. Replacing you improving pre-arby talent with old guys in their mid 30s. Who do we think we are the Giants? I am not a fan of bring Counsell back and will be even less of a fan of it if it means Hardy or Hall are traded.
  6. A suggestion for the P50...if Toby is taking suggestions. Make it sort of like a College Coaches poll, or MVP ballot where a certain number of BF.net regular posters get votes (say 25 posters) and every month or two they must submit thier top 50 prospects. Someone (it doesnt HAVE to be Toby if he is busy) compiles those numbers and makes out a BF.net user P50. Of course, I always have liked what Toby has done as well and think he has done a masterful job with the P50 so if it stays the way it is I think that is totally cool as well.
  7. Why would the Angels do this? Are they looking to add payroll?
  8. Well done KCasper!!
  9. I trust you...but like I said....
  10. You achieve instant troll status if nothing happens.
  11. Gil Meche will get no less than 8 million per year. And I dont think Gagne signs a two year deal.
  12. I dont want any part of an aging over priced Brian Giles. Doug Davis is arguably better than Tim Hudson, and that is before you figure in that Hudson is owed 33 million over the next 3 years. I'd be happy to have Wells and Garcia...at least for what was proposed for them above.
  13. sportsillustrated.cnn.com...index.html What the hell are the Phillies doing? According the link above they may "blow everyone out of the water" in their bid for Lee because they need to find someone to protect Howard. Isnt this the same team that just gave away Bobby Abreu, who is arguably a BETTER player than Lee and WONT be a DH in 2-3 years? How do these GMs keep their jobs?
  14. TooLiveBrew - He scores a boatload of runs because other players drive him in. He drives in a boatload of runs because other guys are on base. It isnt that hard to figure out that those numbers are heavily dependant on the lineup and where you are batting.
  15. I'm not a God. Just a man. A man who would prefer to not play statues in the OF. Sexson was a bad OF when he was a young man with the Indians. I'd hate to see what he would do out there in his 30s. But to give you the answer you were looking for, there is absolutey nothing stopping a team from trading for Sexson and playing him the OF, so by that rationale it is completely possible for the Brewers to go in that direction.
  16. I've gotta say I'd toss 3 yrs 27 million at Nomar just to make him think about it. that is of course assuming the 2 and 20 numbers I heard before are accurrate.
  17. I'd prefer to put Sexson at an area of greater need such as CF or catcher. Damian Miller isn't going to be around forever.
  18. Colby - that site is registration only. But I heard 2 yrs 20 million to stay with the dodgers. Is that what he is taking?
  19. Because Mark DeRosa wont put up a .900 OPS.
  20. Well, The Yankees paid Carl Pavano 40 million to talk to the team trainer for 4 years. So I guess this is the going rate.
  21. Since this is being reported as "rumor" I posted it here. sports.espn.go.com/mlb/ne...id=2656687 But it says the Sox may have won with a bid of 40 million. Now they need to sign him.
  22. With Nomar's athleticism and flexibility he'd really be a great player to sign. He could play LF/3b/1b. Depending on injuries, production and the advancement of Ryan Braun.
  23. I'd have no problem committing 9-10 million per year to him on a 2 year deal.
  24. He's my favorite non-Brewer despite the fact that he hasnt been able to stay healthy. An article on ESPN.com says he'd be willing to take a 2 year deal for not "max money" if the situation were right (a young up and coming team) and that he has told the Cubs before he left that he was willing to play LF. How would Nomar look in our batting order and in LF? 1. Weeks 2b 2. Hardy SS 3. Garciaparra LF 4. Fielder 1b 5. Hall CF 6. Hart RF 7. Koskie 3b 8. Miller C Go ahead, tear that idea apart.
  25. Ha! Found the New Music Purchased thread. I am at work and opened up my iTunes to listen to some music. I checked the music store and saw the Foo Fighters released a new live acoustic album. I bought it. Very cool.
