  1. The point is that while you can maintain a high OPS with a higher than average K rate, it's almost impossible to do so when you're K'ing as much as Gallo is this season (40%). With the type of prospect we seemingly would have had to give up for him and the fact that our lineup already has an excessive number of high K power hitters, it just wasn't worth the risk from the Brewers standpoint. Oh, and he's also a free agent after the season.
  2. He had one season with an OPS over .900 in 70 games... Meanwhile, here's the top 20 in OPS this season. Highest K rate among these players is Judge with 25%. Meanwhile, Gallo's K rate is 40%, which, if he qualified, would be the highest K rate in the majors.
  3. Good job by Ashby leaving it at 1. And has Pujols not punished us enough in his career? It's bad enough we have to deal with Arenado and Goldschmidt...
  4. Stop leaving so many breaking balls up there Ashby your sinker is awesome at inducing ground balls....
  5. How can you score runs without making contact? And Ks do matter for run-scoring purposes because the ball isn't even put into play. Gallo is elite in his ability to make hard contact but the reason he's not an elite hitter is because he doesn't make enough contact for it to translate.
  6. Making contact is inconsequential in the game of baseball? Gotcha.
  7. Yes. Making contact is in fact important.
  8. After 7 games and one of his two home runs came off a position player...Meanwhile, he's struck out in 50% of his at-bats.
  9. I wonder if we'll make an effort to resign Rogers this offseason? I personally wouldn't think so due to the Bush acquisition and the money Rogers will probably command in free agency...
  10. All I did was defend one of my opinions when it came under criticism from others. How is that not allowing others to have opinions that differ from mine? lol Maybe they should just leave me alone and let me hold my opinion...
  11. You do realize the poster I was responding to originally critiqued me for just looking at this season, so then I provided data from last three seasons that show that they've produced similarly. Any way you look at it, whether this season or the last three seasons, Rogers is not that far below Hader's level.
  12. "Pissing"? The other posters you refer to responded to one of my opinions and critiqued it so naturally I tried to provide insight into my reasoning and defended my opinion. This is a message board for discussion about baseball, and that's what you're seeing from me.
  13. Exactly. I am skeptical about Ruiz, but am really enthralled with Gasser. Even one of those guys becoming solid contributors for us over 6 years of control would make the Hader deal worth it imo.
  14. Gained ground on both the Phillies and the Nationals, too. Hopefully they can jump on Mikolas tomorrow, as he's been struggling lately.
  15. I remember Brock telling us to quit it with these sorts of personal posts...Regardless, Hader had been the best relief pitcher in baseball until July, which is why I was on the "wagon". Lately, not so much...Rogers' ERA is now better than Hader's, which, combined with their relatively comparable stats over the last few years, elicited my post. I would definitely have taken Hader until recently, though.
  16. I knew that Rogers was really good and had been quite unlucky this year. It's way too early to make any pronouncements on the Hader trade anyways. Rogers was an all-star last year, but that's besides the point, because the stats I just showed you say that they've been pretty much the same quality since 2019. I would definitely acknowledge that I'd take Hader hands down until recently, but my post was strictly about the 2022 versions of Hader and Rogers.
