  1. Hard to understand why they would be adamant about keeping Davis' spot on both the 40-man and 25-man rosters. If it's solely about defensive insurance, I can guarantee you Mitchell, if not Frelick, would give you just as good of defense in CF.
  2. Another reason for optimism: the Padres, who we trail by only a game and a half, have the 5th most difficult remaining schedule in baseball, with a total 9 games remaining against the Dodgers. The opportunity is certainly there, but it will of course require taking care of business against the lesser teams.

  4. Here's the biggest reason for optimism imo: Brewers with the 22nd most difficult schedule remaining, while the Padres have the 5th most difficult remaining schedule. Padres also set to get swept in their short two game series against the Guardians and have Soto nursing a back injury, with Hader being removed from the closers' role due to ineffectiveness and Tatis no longer coming back. Finally, counting today, the Brewers have 40 games remaining, while the Padres only have 37. So, things are certainly set up for the Brewers to play their way into the playoffs, but they will actually have to take care of business against the Pirates, Cubs, Reds, etc. for that to happen.
  5. Yeah, it's higher, but it's still significantly behind his 2020 BB rate.
  6. Juan Soto out for the Padres with back tightness...Tough times for them.
  7. 1. Quite intently, though not as close as I do during the season. I'll usually subscribe to MLB tv just for that month-plus and watch/listen to as many games as I can, with the caveat being that my interest tapers off once the regulars/top prospects aren't playing. 2. This site, Brewers.com, JS, and Brewers Twitter. 3. I would definitely look forward to some more coverage! Especially in areas that are typically overlooked by the beat guys.
  8. Best win of the season, I'd say. Who'd have thought a month ago that we'd shut out the Dodgers and none of Burnes, Woodruff, Hader, or Williams would be involved, but rather Strzlecki, Milner, and Alexander....
  9. No. Alexander has an ERA over 5 for a reason and nearly as many walks as strikeouts. A flash in the pan and nothing more. Ashby actually needs to be in the rotation to develop as his ceiling is immense.
  10. Crazy how as soon as he gets to face a righty, Keston hits one to the moon.
  11. Yelich actually threw a runner out. Now I've seen it all.
  12. Another question re. tonight's lineup is why is Narvaez in against a lefty...
  13. Brosseau is really sucking lately. If he's not going to hit lefties at minimum, he should go to AAA.
  14. It's inexplicable and it's either PEDs or Devil Magic.
  15. We're not going to be any more successful against Urias tonight, are we.
  16. I’m thinking more get swept by the Pirates bad, or actually lose a series, which they haven’t done in a while.
  17. Dodgers are due for a stinker of a series, you would think. And we're due for a stellar series. So, maybe?
  18. As long as your argument isn't that Burnes isn't an ace, I can see wanting more from Woodruff, specifically as it relates to this season. However, Woody's numbers since coming off the IL are certainly ace-like and he's gone 6/7 innings in all but three of his outings, with one being his dominant start against the Rays where he was on a strict pitch limit. As regards Scherzer, yes he's been dominant since coming off the IL. But he's in a different historical class to begin with, and Woodruff's numbers since he came off the IL aren't even that far off from his. That's why you have to look at the whole picture, which the Fangraphs chart I highlighted does. Scherzer is not listed because he doesn't qualify due to injury, but if he did, he would rank 4th with Nola. Either way, there's room in the game for multiple aces, and virtually every baseball analyst would agree that Burnes, Scherzer, and Woodruff are all aces.
  19. Brice Turang with another HR in AAA and is 2-2 so far. I would call him up and send down Brosseau at this point because Brosseau's defense is meh and he's not hitting lefties well enough lately.
  20. I do wish the Brewers would've shown a pulse a little bit earlier because this thread was borderline unreadable for the most part...
