  1. Thanks. Not sure what I did to provoke that kind of response, when you consider that umps have changed their calls after prodding by the manager many times over the history of the sport.
  2. Can we seriously file a protest with the commissioner's office or something? Like if that's how the ump is going to rationalize the call....
  3. Also Ashby is starting tomorrow instead of Alexander.
  4. Where exactly does he "bring his hands up"? HE LITERALLY DOESNT EVEN MOVE THEM.
  5. Couldn't you say the same thing for us and bats though?
  6. I know it's not. But he would've argued the call and gotten them to change it.
  7. Bunt please. But it's Tellez so it's not going to happen.
  8. I want an explanation from Counsell after the game. If La Russa was our manager, he would've gotten the call reversed.
  9. First, he puts in Suter. Then, he doesn't even protest the balk call. Good grief, CC.
  10. Terrible Terrible call. Why is Counsell not out there arguing that?
  11. I'm talking strictly about the defense. Per the stats, they're pretty close at third.
  12. And now Suter can't even throw strikes. Not a good omen.
  13. Suter is not a guy you put into a game like this.
  14. Why Suter here? Why not Gott, Gustave, etc.?
  15. The guy has been our most valuable position player this season. And his defense at third has been right there with Arenado…
  16. Or maybe I have to draw a diagram for the people that continue to be so perplexed/angered as to why Hiura was sent down. As previously stated , it would’ve been Davis, but he can’t be sent down so long as Taylor remains on the IL. Severino was the other main candidate, but he is out of options and he hits LHP really well, whereas Hiura doesn’t. The three catcher thing almost certainly won’t continue in the long run. But they still need to see what they have in Severino and whether there is a team that wants to acquire him. Dumping him for nothing is not the smartest move right now for a small market team like the Brewers. Hiura will be back on the team in due time, but let’s quit acting like he’s the sure thing some people on here seem to think he is. Also, I would add that calling Severino “stupid” is poor taste, especially when the guy was trying to start a family.
  17. That's not how the system works, though, as there's things like pre-arbitration and arbitration. The system is that for a free agent of McCutchen's experience and production, 8.5 mil for 1 year is right around market value, maybe a little higher. Either way, McCutchen is not one of our problems right now, so I don't quite get why @brewers888 decided to highlight him in the context of Hiura. Keston was absolutely horrendous in June. In July, he's been hot, but that's in a lot fewer at-bats than McCutchen.
  18. 8.5 million is chump change in today's MLB, especially for one year. You're not getting a guy like McCutchen for league minimum. He's not as good as he once was, but he's still a productive player. And productive players cost way more than league minimum. Also, his line against RHP this year is .272/.335/.392/.726. That's way improved from last year.
  19. Again, one of the hottest hitters in baseball over the last two months with a .273 xBA and a .459 xSLG on the season. That's not "washed up" under any definition of the term. Cain was washed up, McCutchen is not.
  20. Washed up McCutchen? He's been among the hottest hitters in baseball since June...
  21. Okay. Let's just totally reset after last night's debacle. Basically, all it means is that we have now gifted a game to another team in the 9th inning after the Padres previously did the same for us earlier in the season. Hopefully, Hader's all-star break started after the game last night. He needs the next week to get away from pitching and reset with his family. In the meantime, we can get by with Devin closing and Boxberger/Gott/Milner/Gustave setting him up. Win one of the next two games, and I'll be content. This will be a second half team with guys like Freddy returning from injury, positive regression from Adames, Tellez, etc. and potential trade upgrades.
  22. Something is way off with Hader. Is it the new baby? I hate to say, it but his struggles do coincide pretty closely with that. Given that he's chosen to skip the all-star game, his mind may be elsewhere right now. Thankfully, we have another dominant reliever in Devin to pick up the slack. And Hoby, Gott, and Gustave have been good, too.
