  1. There's some truth to this, but it also doesn't take into account how much harder it is to make contact in today's game than at any other point in baseball history. Pitchers have so many built-in advantages and are also throwing the ball harder and spinning it faster than they ever have....
  2. True, but it is literally impossible for hitters nowadays to control where they place the ball, given the insane velocity and spin of modern-day pitchers. All they're thinking is apply the barrel to the ball and hit it as hard as they can. Also, over the course of a season, hard hit balls will result in more hits and runs than softer hit balls...Pretty important when the name of the game is to score more runs than the opposition.
  3. Someone needs to own that....lol. Especially with the way they went on and on about it over the course of several months.
  4. Turang with three walks and a hit today in addition to his home run last night. I'd be all for a call-up for him with Peterson on the IL and Wong looking gimpy. Also, Hiura is tearing up AAA as per usual....I'm thinking we'll see him soon, as well.
  5. The ball was hit right at Adames, anyways. So, I don't get the grumbling about that play. Regardless, our eyes/brain are imperfect whereas the numbers spit out the facts.
  6. The line drive double play wasn't all that lucky. Only 76.6 MPH off the bat. Just bad base-running by the Rockies and the Brewers took advantage.
  7. Pheww...Makes up for the string of weak singles, though.
  8. 117.2 MPH off the bat. That will be among the hardest hit balls of the season. Good to see Christian can still get into one like that. Shows the ability is still there.
  9. Good to see Freddy get through 2 solid innings in Nashville today. Probably will want to get him at least 2 more rehab starts.
  10. Bogaerts will be a free agent after the season when he opts out of his contract…
  11. True. His defense will definitely play though which is why I would be tempted if I were Stearns.
  12. Another game on Monday. One of those rare wraparound series.
  13. Turang showing some more power lately. With Peterson's injury, could it finally be his time?
  14. Having witnessed some of the pitchers we've had to trout out there over the years, I will disagree. Watching Burnes, Woodruff, Hader, Williams, etc. pitch on a daily basis is pure bliss.
  15. This is called Rocky Road. At home, they're more like Rocky Balboa...
  16. Good question. Assuming we are unable resign either (which isn't much of an assumption), it would have to be Soto as he has more team control remaining. Ohtani makes it a difficult choice though with his ability to be an elite hitter AND pitcher.
  17. Yeah, I could see Charlotte getting a team. Though, I suspect when push comes to shove it'll end up being Vegas for financial/gambling interest reasons. Also, if you're going to add a team from the East such as Montreal, it makes sense to add a team from the West as well for geographic balance.
  18. It's crazy to me how a market such as Tampa Bay is on the verge of relocation. That's what happens when you combine crappy ownership with a terrible location.
